    If anyone of your students didn't understand the material then they must have been sleeping in class. This is as crystal clear as it gets, great job Mr. Danner!

    Definitely the best format you have presented! Very well presented, the information flow is very well thought out, but what is outstanding is how you anticipate to the questions that people may have and explain before hand, an area of opportunity would be that sometimes during this new presentation/case study format occasionally you refer to examples or discussions that took place off camera and sometimes the curve ball is hard to catch! be part of your class form home is a privilege.

      Thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I will try to be more clear about things that happened off camera in the future. I am glad you liked this format, I will do more of them in this style for sure.
      I like this channel, I feel like I can teach more and not have to worry about the length of the video.

    SD: Any quesions?
    Yes, if probing the incandecent light with the heater control wire and to the battery positive light it without starting the car.
    What problem are we looking at?

    Im a mechanic and don't have those fancy tools so when the heated o2 sensor had a code on my 2008 sentra se-r spec v i compared the resistances across pins for the one that was good on the second bank to the one that was not good and boom open circuit on the bank that had a code and i have continuity on the good bank job done

    I had a 04 Tundra in today with a/f sensor heater problem did the diag no problem but noticed with my test light connected to heater control wire and battery positive when I turn the key off it grounded the circuit. Ever noticed anything like that before?

    Paul great video again!! When you were showing the wire diagram how did you get the wires to hi light when you moved over them? That would be very useful when tracing wires

      Just click on it. But you have to have svg viewer installed on your PC to get the colored diagrams. It should be automatic if you are using Mitchell-On Demand

    great video. quick question, can the computer cancel control (pulses) to the o2 heater circuit. im not getting pulses on my bank 1 upstream heater circuit (08 charger 2.7L) before I condem the pcm.

    • @ScannerDannerPremium
      @ScannerDannerPremium  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. It may be intentional shut down because it doesn't like what it is seeing either voltage or current wise on that heater. Make sense?

    Absolutely fantastic presentation. Am I correct in saying that the AF % command was monitored by the ecm and since the heater circuit was open , the command timed out and dropped to almost zero. A great example of how scan data is can been misinterpreted. Some people would have just changed the sensor and not know why until they run across another one that costs them a $300 lesson. Was glad to hear you have a couple of female students . I had the pleasure of teaching many people in the automotive field at General Motors over the years and I must say it was the females that excelled progressively in comparison to the rest. Just my observation not to insult the men at all, but if you were to ask your wife she would probably agree with my results. LOL.

    • @ScannerDannerPremium
      @ScannerDannerPremium  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Steve! I believe you would be correct in that assessment. The reaction was completely different with the new sensor wasn't it? So the PCM is monitoring both voltage and current on this circuit. And I believe the AF signal circuit would play into this too.

  • @Mikesky10
    @Mikesky10 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    why in some engines there is a delay for the activation of the rear O2 heater, i saw a Hyundai Tucson 2014 with 5 minutes delay for the PCM to turn on the post CAT O2 heater, another one with 2minutes delay in the rear one too, why exactly the PCM does this?, because the CAT is cold and there is no need for the rear O2 to start working inmediatly?

    • @Mikesky10
      @Mikesky10 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      by the way i saw this only in a cold start condition

    • @ScannerDannerPremium
      @ScannerDannerPremium  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I read, to give time for moisture burn off in the exhaust. Plus as you stated, the cat isn't warmed up anyway, so it is not needed.

    • @jacoponono8179
      @jacoponono8179 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can absolutely confirm that you are 100% correct. Certain OEMs actually have design issues where moisture in the exhaust can hit the surface of the ceramic and crack the sensor if the heater is on. One of the easiest ways to fix this design flaw is to modify the software in the PCM so that it will do this.

    Hello please help appreciate if you could give me your thought for 2003 sentra 1.8l im getting 12v on both white wires on 02 sensor circuit 0 bias with key on engine off with engine temp at 88 in hot sun , with engine on 280 milli volt and goes up extremely slow sensor 2 responds much sooner, than sensor 02 b1s1 increases by 10s to 400s do you think that could cause p0031

      It's a holiday weekend bro.
      What is your O2 heater current? What is the definition for the codes you have? I don't know these by heart.
      Have you replaced the O2? Post your questions to my forum if you need immediate help. Thanks!

    I just had a 2003 dodge ram 1500 4.7 CA model in today with a p0052 heater circuit high bank 2 sensor 1. It's a power side switched circuit. I had no clue the heater circuit is only on with car running. I knew it was PWM but all I could really do was check the ground (it was good) and check the resistance( over 800 ohms) Theres also a fuse for the O2 in the fuse box but it had no power with key on and the diagram shows no fuse. (fuse 49) I even checked the power distribution and I see no fuse 49. The diagram shows all O2 circuits go straight to the computer and ground. What or how is the fuse used or is it an optional fuse that may not be used for this car?

    • @ScannerDannerPremium
      @ScannerDannerPremium  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      sounds like it is an optional fuse, not used on this design. Maybe with it being California emissions they wanted a better monitor for the heater circuit than the typical "time to activity" test. On those designs the heater circuit is powered up through the ASD relay and the ground is constant. In other words the PCM does NOT control or monitor the heater circuit directly. It uses the 5v bias line on the signal circuit from start up to "watch" the heater circuit.

    I have a question, I was diagnosing a heater circuit code B1S1 on a '03 Trailblazer 4.2 one of the heater wires had 12 volts,the other was pwm ground, on the sensor side one was the signal (450 mV) and the sensor "ground had 0 volts but when I hooked a test light to battery positive the light didn't light. Is this normal 0 volts but no ground?

    • @ScannerDanner
      @ScannerDanner 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      You shouldn't test a sensor ground circuit with a test light. Sensors carry current in the micro-amp range. A test light would be too high of amperage, but it still should light.
      To properly test the sensor ground, it would be engine running, backprobe the sensor ground with the sensor PLUGGED IN. You should have less than 100mv on that sensor ground on most systems (unless there is a ground bias)
