Imagine for a moment that life is so random that the moment we die and leave this world, whatever we are is traveling in an elevator where the most beautiful compositions made by our race play. It is like the climactic moment before catharsis, before nothingness itself.
As you close your eyes for the final time, you prepare for the 7 minutes of happiness approaching. But instead of happy memories with your family or friends you get childhood memories of your favorite video games. Like when you bought the n64, or when you finally beat mario 64 for the 1st time. Either way you are still happy about the memories even though they weren't very important ones, you wished this moment would never end but a bright light appeared, it's time to go. Although you're sad about leaving your memories, you are going to a better place now.
this sounds like how i imagine floating in space would sound. a soft calming melody mixed with something you knew in life. forever reaching out for that comfort of the living world but never being able to reach it. you don't mind, content to live in the clouds. but still that feeling in the back of your head. that feeling you are forgetting something you once held so dear...
The music box really elevates this above all the other covers of this. I also really like the way you slowed it to sound more like dire dire docks/piranha plant lullaby.
"Sorry, Mario. The princess is not in any castles this time. She was found dead beside the Dire Dire Docks... pale and waterlogged with Bowser sobbing loudly beside her. He says Wario planned it. I'm sorry." - Toad
