I learned a lot from you back when you used hostgator. Bluehost seems beautiful and simple but im nervous to make the switch from hostgator. What initially caused you to switch host’s?
Years ago, I'd built a website for a small organization using a WordPress template on Bluehost. Bluehost sent me a renewal notice, then sent me an email saying "renewed". I didn't think about it because we were planning a big trip. Then Covid hit. I didn't get back to the website for a couple of months and it was gone. I called Bluehost. I hadn't realized that the "renewed" email only applied to the domain name, not the hosting service. It was more than 30 days since they'd trashed my site and they just said "sorry." I'd paid for site backup for 5 years but... "sorry." It was my mistake for breezing through my emails, but geez... I'd spent so much time building the first site and it was so painful. So I switched to Asphostportal. Thank god. Building a site with Asphostportal was 1000x easier.

I had to contact support to enable the SSL certificate 🔒. It only took a couple minutes, they were super helpful. And a TH-cam video helped me to setup email and sync with G-Mail. Wtf are sub domains?
i had a electric blue reseller account and the they updated sopftware and removed opne afilliate one click installer to a different one and all my wordpress websites became inaccessible, plus all my resold domains lost their individual user cpanel control panels. Support had nothing to do except say they cant fix it and sorry. lost 80 resold websites. Thats a million dollar sue them suite.. but im not in USA otherwise i would have sued them

What I’d really like is for someone to come build a website for me and then I would pay a low price to have someone monitor it on a monthly basis. Can you recommend? I’ve had blue host for a week now..but nothing is happening because I’m overwhelmed by all the fluff. For a newbie I give 6.5/10. Mainly on the fact that they have so many options but overwhelming so. Very informative video.
Maybe a website builder like Wix or Squarespace would be better? In general, once your website is up and running you don't really interact too much with your web host. What exactly are you overwhelmed by?
@@DavidUtke 👋 all the extra stuff they want you to buy. I clicked on blue sky link and somehow ended up at mojo market. I ended up buying a service for $199, which when I called mojo said they don’t see that I bought anything. Im currently disputing the charge with PayPal(payment method). I bought an theme for $59 and it was so confusing so I ask for refund same day. 😅. I call bluehost and they scheduled me for there Design Team to call me back and help me set up website, for a fee. That same day I decided I would attempt to figure it out before they called me. Two hours of learning how to navigate bluehost, I was able to get 80% of my website complete. Only problem is I don’t have an actual logo yet. One step at a time. Im good now, thank you for asking. 👍👍
@ David Utke - Problem with registering your Domain with Namecheap, for example -- because it's cheaper, and then transferring it to Bluehost for hosting your site is the following Policy: You have to wait 60 days to transfer a domain : The Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy, applicable to all ICANN-accredited registrars, provides that registered name holders must be able to transfer their domain name registrations between registrars. You must wait 60 days after the initial registration or any previous transfers to initiate a transfer.

I suggest Bluehost for new websites and beginners, SiteGround for WooCommerce and WPX hosting once you have an established website.

Maps.Google.com is an example of a sub domain. Use sub domains if it's a service that will be very different from the main point of the website.

you can go on fiverr, you will find someone to build it for you for a cheap price..

Not yet. I like them for new websites up to 2k monthly visitors, 60k pageviews. After I would move to WPX hosting.

move to dreamhost and take a vpn. i did, once you go dreamhost(Mac), you never go Blue(back)
They are good but they are not the best. There are better companies for a much lower price.
