In 1928 no South African sixpences were minted. Zero, Zip, Nada! Then, in 2010 one surfaced. You won't believe what the coin sold for! It's easily one of the biggest Numismatic treasures in the union series today and there may be more hiding... no one knows for sure!

Most interesting, how did they assess it was .925 silver? that was the sterling standard however in 1920 the UK debased to 0.50 silver so the planchet had to be older stock? Although in the main all proof issues are still to the sterling standard. Was the planchet the dame size and weight as the UK 6d, 2.83g and 19.41mm? The Ireland 6d was first struck in 1928 also but was bigger and struck on a nickel planchet.

That's too vague. Litterally anything from R10 (a worn 1934) to R2million (unc 1931).

Usually no. I suggest you check out my videos on how to sell. If you're able to make the Bloemfontein coin show, anyone there will be able to appraise them and possibly buy if interested. Note that most old coins are usually not worth much.
