In Volvo Truck vehicles, there are additional brakes that are used to reduce the speed of the vehicle.
This additional brake is called Volvo Engine Brake (VEB).
Volvo Engine Brake (VEB) consists of 2 systems used, namely "Volvo Compression Brake" and "Exhaust Pressure Governor". Both systems work simultaneously.
"Volvo Compression Brake", the system is by leaking compression, while the "Exhaust Pressure Governor" system is by closing the exhaust gas path.
To activate "Volvo Engine Brake" there are several conditions that must be met so that the braking process using "Volvo Engine Brake" can be done.
In this video, I will explain the requirements that must be met, so that braking with "Volvo Engine Brake" can be activated or carried out.

VEB engine brake
The VEB (Volvo Engine Brake) consists of two systems: exhaust pressure governor (EPG/ATR) and VCB (Volvo Compression Brake) with special rocker arms for the exhaust valves, a special camshaft with extra cam lobes and a control valve for the oil pressure at the rocker arm shafts. The braking effect of the compression brake on the engine is achieved by:
1.The exhaust valve opening and letting in more air during the inlet stroke, which gives more air to compress during the compression stroke.
2.The exhaust valve opens just before TDC on the compression stroke and punctures the compression, thus reducing the power of the power stroke.
3.The exhaust pressure governor creates back pressure in the exhaust system. The back pressure increases the braking power of the compression brake.

Can anyone tell me if removal of the filter in the exhaust box will cause the truck to fault / limp?
Box is full of oil and truck is de-rated on over back pressure.

you try to check the "micro switch" on the brake pedal and clutch pedal. Is it still functioning properly or not?
Usually if the "micro switch" has a problem, then cruisse control (CC) also doesn't work.
what version of your volvo truck?
@@BiggyFeri it's a amt volvo fmx 400, in a flated road the engine brake is working but if in downhill and it has a load the engine brake is not functioning.
the function of the engine brake is to reduce the speed of the vehicle. Not to stop the vehicle. If the road conditions are steeply downhill and the load, it must be combined between the engine brake and the service brake.
If you only use the engine brake, the braking on the vehicle cannot be maximized.
