In game one when he reveals 9 cards to See the Unwritten, it really was a violation. As the eight cards being revealed are still on top of the library until the spell resolves, the temple should not have been revealed yet.
That being said, it was clearly an accident, it's an easy fix, and it clearly did not affect his choice of creature, so I think no penalty was the right call.
