This battle always made me so happy, when they played that alternative version of YSR when Deku slammed Bakugo, him finally standing up for himself for the first time when Bakugo bullied him relentlessly for I kid you not “being a good friend” after seeing his friend fall from a high place as a fcking 5 year old, Bakugo’s assault on Deku while villain strike played, the final clash, how Yaoyorozu tore Bakugo a new one and to top it off Deku’s final stand before fainting with the anguish of the quirkless playing was such a powerful scene
Something I'm surprised they never really addressed is that at some point the way bakugos quirk works is going to actually fuck someone up and it's going to be nasty and him being a teen and all won't know how to deal with seeing something like that, explosions via nitroglycerin are no joke
FWIW, they do tend to pair him against people who can either evade it reasonably well - like Uraraka - or people who can physically withstand it - like Kirishima. Putting him against Midorya was sort of uncommon; most school events at least pretend to try to mitigate Bakugo's inherent destructiveness.

That was never his objective. All Bakugo had to do was wrap tape around Midoriya. Also Midoriya didn’t “nuke the building”. Bakugo blew up a hallway and Midoriya destroy all the floors above him. Calling it nuking is overkill.

Then in the final confrontation where Deku destroys the building, Bakugou does not use the gauntlet but only an explosion from his hand. Therefore no, Deku never "withstood Bakugou's strongest attack."
