Angkor Wat Temple after the change of religion

Angkor Wat temple represents the peak of Khmer civilization and appreciated as the biggest religious architecture in the world. By the help of a sacred formula, Churning of the milk sea, Khmer emperor united all ethnics for the national conciliation then defense against Dai Viet country. However, everything was not applied because of the king death then Khmer army retreated back to the kingdom. The descendants tried to changed the religion from 16th century for the maintenance of this historical site.

Since the 1850s, my grandpa has been living in Oudong in Cambodia and has lived there for 101 years, but he never spoke about the Thai occupation of Cambodia to my dad. Is it true that only a few regions of Cambodia were controlled by Thais? I'm endeavoring to reconstruct the history of our nation, but it has undergone difficult times and most documents are no longer captivating. Therefore, I had to go to Thai museums or their sources of information, which most were in their favor. I would appreciate it, and you can shed some light on my answer and thanks.@@youkhemarak189
