Only the game's animation is absolutely terrible, art in general is all over the place, and they dropped the ball hard on the music. Sorry, the game's mediocre at best. There's no reason to play it over a SOTN replay, honestly.

So yeah, the DLC is "free" for those of you who didn't back the game at all, (basically everyone in this TH-cam comments section) but for the backers, we covered it for you. People that don't really know the economics of game development at ALL think paid DLC matters, but these games are twice as expensive as they were when they were $50 USD with NO dlc.

Ditto. Just tried it out last night, and it's fabulous. The control scheme and gameplay are more fluid ans fun than any other metroidvania that I have played (except maybe for Timespinner; we'll see).
With all the freemason/kabbalah symbology in SotN, I'm pretty sure Koji has some miserable little secrets. but... WHAT HAVE YOU?!! (crash!) SotN is still a great game, regardless of the heels that Koji licked back in the 90's. But where is all the European pagan symbology? Where is the Celtic or Nordic symbols that surely the Belmont clan would bare on their sacred weapons and ornaments? Koji gets it wrong, and I suspect he does so intentionally; Jews didn't forever own Europe like they do today. He knows that too. That is Dracula's curse - their scourge that they set upon our homelands, as it describes in the game's story. Either Koji is aloof like a old vampire stuck in eternal youth, or he is a pawn of the same You Know Who's that so many Japanese games allude to.
Quality where? The game is full of bugs, some even close your games in consoles, I am having multiple problems with the game on Xbox one, character trapped outside the map, the game closing when crafting, trapped with the map so I've been forced to reload the game (and I haven't saved over half an hour) error saving the progress until I reloaded the game
Im pleased to say i got my backer copy a day early so have played it extensively. This is a fantastic game,it meets every expectation and has had a number of surprises as well as a number of nods,some extremely subtle and some not,to past IGA-vania works. The free DLCs are icing on the cake. If you've yet to play this or any Metroidvania game YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS! Thank you IGA-san!

One says Enter the name as NIGHTMARE the other BIGHEAD The nightmare code comes with a spoiler warning however so it may be the case the difficulty modes aren't just difficulty modes but seperate modes unto themselves kinda like they were in Curse of the Moon.
And he has done it! Amidst all the pain, all the struggle, all the controversy, he has been able to create something truly special. He has succeeded in bringing his vision to life, and it is everything we hoped for and more! I hope he knows just how well he has succeeded in his goal of bringing us something in the same vein as SOTN that not only matches it, but exceeds it. He has created something that the fans will love and cherish as the true Masterpiece of the genre. Koji Igarashi is truly THE MAN!

IIRC Iga started the Kickstarter Just as Konami's descent into the bowels of the underworld was going public. So I personally think part of it is "I am going to make what I and the People want!" and partly it's a MESSAGE to Konami and their ilk.

red crimson102 graphics is far better than symphony, gameplay is better, Im using the rapier which does the same multi hit attack, if you dont get spoiled on the story it will be more interesting finding out what happened to miriam and the other characters. this game is a masterpiece in and of it self.

Got my copy in the mail yesterday and have about 4 hours clocked in on PS4. I am impressed and super hyped about what I have experienced so far. Bloodstained seems to be Symphony of the Night, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia all in one package together. This is the second game I have ever backed on Kickstarter and I have been lucky that both projects have turned out good :D

The dev team released a statement that they're shifting their focus to patching the Switch version immediately Edit: Nevermind. They're not fixing it immediately at all.
Still works. So far I haven't had any issues beyond minor graphical glitches and at worst the occasional crash after returning to the game from sleep mode.

As someone who had a Castlevania-themed wedding because I was so inspired by the music, the art, and the lore of classics like Symphony of the Night... thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping the dream alive.
Ok so now that I’m 20 hours in this is officially one of my favorite games. Thank you for the masterpiece Iga! With that said my two wishes for the future are: 1) complete edition all the DLCs/bug fixes/updates/etc on the physical media (switch cart and Blu-ray) maybe some extra collectibles?(hey I can dream right)? 2) A SEQUEL!!! I’m three hours deep on PS4 thanks to receiving my Kickstarter copy on 6/17.
This game is a triumph.

red crimson102 graphics is far better than symphony, gameplay is better, Im using the rapier which does the same multi hit attack, if you dont get spoiled on the story it will be more interesting finding out what happened to miriam and the other characters. this game is a masterpiece in and of it self.

Got my copy in the mail yesterday and have about 4 hours clocked in on PS4. I am impressed and super hyped about what I have experienced so far. Bloodstained seems to be Symphony of the Night, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia all in one package together. This is the second game I have ever backed on Kickstarter and I have been lucky that both projects have turned out good :D

Looks like I was incredibly wrong. IGA, you should have delayed this version until Halloween or something. It looks and plays really bad man. Didn't think you'd do that to us, given your legacy with Nintendo handhelds.

Just beat the game and no-hit (medal) all the bosses and I....I'm speechless. This was 11 years of my life spent replaying your DS titles and digital re-releases of SotN finally made into the perfect Igavania. Domo Arigato Igarashi-san!

Shovel Knight was Capcom Megaman inspired. Seeing him come to a Konami Castlevania inspired title brings it full circle. Really looking forward to this game IGA.
He's not a playable character per say, you get his armor as a drop from an enemy then you turn into him when you equip it, As for now at least.

Yeah, I hope iga would do or change the team to do the port, the nsw could be his golden mine for this kind of games nsw take the glory, but 505 are inexperience and bad for this stuff
The dev team released a statement that they're shifting their focus to patching the Switch version immediately
Edit: Nevermind. They're not fixing it immediately at all.
Still works. So far I haven't had any issues beyond minor graphical glitches and at worst the occasional crash after returning to the game from sleep mode.

1) complete edition all the DLCs/bug fixes/updates/etc on the physical media (switch cart and Blu-ray) maybe some extra collectibles?(hey I can dream right)?

Paid for it in full a while back, currently playing it and absolutely freaking loving it. This is the kind of game I've been missing in my life, the quality is top notch. Gameplay is awesome, art is gorgeous. Any fans of Metroidvania types owe it to themselves to give this a shot.

There are other metroidvania games out there that i played but non of them scratch my metroidvania itch. your work are absolutely above them. There something about them. like a charm. just commenting here that i noticed the 1.03 patch (on the ps4 version) that you guys made and it fixed every problem that i was having with the 1.02 (the worst one was the constant crash after checking those bookcases). Thank you very much. Now this game is perfect :3
