Persolaise, you are an amazing guy. Only you can do 59 minute fragrance videos that are incredibly interesting and a pleasure to watch. You mentioned Acqua di Parma Arancia di Capri in your video. I love the fragrance & I own it. My ex girlfriend use to wear the fragrance. She decided, one day, that she was going to move on from the fragrance and gave it to me.

To me Lutens Sarrasins is one of the strongest olfactory impressive perfumes. That strong full effect jasmine is absolutely disarming and transporting. It takes me into the night full of stars at the jasmine fields, with miles and miles of those fields, whispering their seductive spells over my dizzy head. It's the sexiest jasmine I've ever smelt and I can't imagine my life without it. Funnily enough my other half says it smells of a dirty animal (while Muscs Koublai Khan according to him smells "nice and lovely ", haha), but I still wear it when we're together, let him anchor it with our pleasant memories💜

Beyond paradise was the first perfume I bought for my mum from my own salary. I had no idea about the brand or story behind it but the gorgeous bottle and the fragrance itself totally convinced me. She loved and cherished it till the end, now I still have that raindow drop bottle as her memory. :)

Perhaps not one for Valentine's Day, but Penhaligon's Lily of the Valley is transportative to my nose. It conjures up a cold spring morning in the woods, with the mist still clinging to the floor around the huddled flowers of lily of the valley. It's almost Arthurian. And yet beautifully wearable.

Hello persolaise... beautiful video... Perfume and life interwined as art form via memories and travels... To me two perfumes transcend me to a wonderful place in my mind.. Kingdom by Alexander McQueen and dune by Dior... McQueen's kingdom was inspired by dune... I discovered kingdom at a fitter room at Harrods...fell in love with it and shared it with my sister... Years later after she died I found the beloved well treasured heart shaped bottle of kingdom in her stuff... not a drop was left... Years later I smelled an old tester of dune by Dior and I cried... It was kingdom back again... It was that moment falling in love with it at Harrods... It was that moment I gave it with love to my sister years before she died... Perfume amazes us...

Another fabulous episode and what a great theme. There are lots of wonderful perfumes that are able to whisk me away, but the one that is probably the most evocative takes me to a place I’ve never been.
Many years ago a colleague asked me what I was wearing and began to weep when I told her. She said she knew the aromas and every time she walked past me it was getting more familiar. The reason she was crying was because she couldn’t believe she’d forgotten her grandmother’s garden in India. The perfume was Escale de Pondichery alas no longer made but when she’d stopped crying Suda was very happy. The wonder of perfume!

Songes is a favourite transporting scent. It reminds me of tropical nights with the scent of flowers lingering in the air; long conversations in a hammock with a cooling light breeze; humidity and heat; desserts of tropical fruit; the careless pleasure of leaving the house with just my key, not even a thought for coats, bags, phones.

It felt fitting that Vol de Nuit should be in this list somewhere . I am one of the vintage VdN admirers - I have an eau de cologne from the fifties. Very green, very cool, almost leathery, feels distant and solitary, not soft, hard to describe but really evokes a windswept, far away feeling.

What I love about your videos is the fact that I always have a "Oh yes, I'd forgotten about that" moment. In this episode these were - the refence to the Three Colours Trilogy, which I watched in the early 2000's and now feel like watching again, and seeing you bring up Vol de Nuit, I immediately went and sprayed this on myself because I'd kind of forgotten about this one! Why haven't I been wearing this beauty!!?? Loved your take on the whole "Valentine's Day" thing. 🙏

Great video! I love these top tens. Just a suggestion for one of your top tens, how about one on vintage/iconic French perfumes (20-30 years old), leaving out the big houses like Chanel, Dior, and Guerlain. A few ideas: Boucheron, Jean Louis Scherrer (Scherrer, Nuit Indiennes), YSL Yvresse, Christian Lacroix (Bazzar), Lancom (Magie Noire), Ungaro (Diva), Balmain (Ivoire), the older Van Cleef and Arpels. The list is long! You choose.

My favorite, most worn teenage fragrance was Oh d’London by Yardley. Long discontinued, but I can still conjure up a scent memory. When I smelled Nirvana White, it was so reminiscent of OdL, that I was transported to 1969, lying on the beach on my grandmother’s old quilt, listening to Crystal Blue Persuasion on the radio. I bought it & a backup bottle.

It produces a super “clean” trail to those around you, but up close the cool spices and melon fruit create such an exquisite cocktail and it ends up feeling unique like you said. Recently I smelled through the Prada ‘exclusive’ high-end line and I forget which perfume it was but it was the saddest perfume I have ever smelt. It was a beautiful experience. (To me I find Bronze Goddess Azur- recommended by Sali Hughes last year I think - a perfume that sweeps me away, the tropical theme maybe not being original, but it is the first time I smell salt in a perfume, I did not realize I liked that. It makes me think of a holiday I never took, maybe in the Caribbean, or in Zanzibar, with a beach and a zesty drink with a beautiful vibrant flower in it. To be honest I think the only salty perfume I had smelled before was Eau des Merveilles Bleue but I cannot find it appealing, don't know why! )

How weird is it for you to get comments on old videos you no longer remember the content? I had watched this one real-time, but it came back up in my queue, and as soon as I saw Diorella on the list I had to watch it again. This scent is on my top 10 lifers, and luckily the new reformulation is almost as good as the original. Do you agree? Talk about one that transports you to a different time or realm.

I cringe when people ask what’s your favorite this or that. Somehow that revulsion has transferred over to the transportive fragrance question. But I’ll suspend my irrationality for just a bit. It’s Sultan Pasha in general that takes me places I think. In particular Al Lail. The underlying deep and dark complexity with those opening bright and shimmering citruses makes me think of a Persia before modern day politics took hold. Mysterious frivolity is what life should be-this perfume and my idea of old Iran give me that.
