A friend was in the car with me the other while playing, I didn't get where I am today, and he asked me, is this the Monkees? I was laughing so hard. It's one of my favorite tracks on Format.
Have it around all the time driving working etc. never stop listening to it!!! Just so good! They PSB are the best to me!!! Glad they carry on and never run out of imagination!!!!!
it is a fantastic album & I would love to see a tour of these songs & include other songs not usually played - btw can we have a format 2 & disco 5 please
Format has some amazing songs : After The Event, Always (one of my favorite). But Alternative can't be matched. At the time we wouldn't even thought they would do a b-sides album. So the first time they collected their b-sides while most of them were only released on vinyl and not on CD, it was like a Christmas gift. Plus the songs there were truly amazing (I Get Excited (You Get Excited Too) is better than it's a-side Heart which was also insanely good), Do I have to (amazing ballad), Don Juan, You Know Where You Went Wrong (pure experimentation, great dramatic lyrics delivery from Neil). Alternative's quality is unmatched. And it's release was truly a surprise then. Now WE KNOW there will be a b-sides album and you're often more excited about the b-side than about the a-side. As long as PSB lives, we know there will be another b-sides album, even after Format. And it's a very good thing. But not a surprise anymore.
Great to see that PSB have released a new cd........Alternative was a great cd but if u listen to what Neil says in this interview this particular release "Format" is a album that reflects the contemporary music of the time ......1996-2009.....interesting looking forward to a listen
Was also interesting for Chris Lowe to suggest a full B- sides tour.......that would be certainly different wouldnt it? But perhaps a lot of people wouldnt go if one wasnt too familiar with Pet Shop Boys b-sides........
When does this come out in America? I love that PSB are such a productive group. Prolific and brilliant. You never have to wait long for another brilliant album by PSB, it's coming!
Spelling error @ 1:51 :-P By the way, I agree with the boys, "After the Event" and "I Didn't Get Where I Am Today" are great songs. My favourites are the brilliant "The Boy Who Couldn't Keep His Clothes On" and "Delusions of Grandeur", though.
Está muy buena esta oportunidad de tener muchas canciones que no tengo, pero ahora con FORMAT, las tendré. Ojalá que no se retarden estos discos y la edición para América Latina tenga también la entrevista...
So what I've learned here is that Chris and I have very different tastes, I agree 100% with Neil that Always is amazing, I used to listen to that on repeat when it came out and I know I'd love a full downtempo album from them but doesn't sound like that will ever happen... :-(
@@aaronmilic5916 Maybe but there aren't a lot of tracks like that on the album. Behavior too had So Hard and The End Of The World but all the rest is downtempo
Top class band...their productivity puts many bands to shame
Brilliant!, I Love Pet Shop Boys & I Love when Chris smiles...thank you!!!
Love PSB ,. Super talented, Clever and Humble geniuses !

How right neil is about CD singles. FREE- Ultra Nate with the four mixes is a 40 minute single!

In fact, they did. It's called "Elysium". 😁It's like "Behavior" part 2 in a way.
@@dana.1546 A Face Like That isn't really downtempo...

Think that's the most verbose I've ever seen Chris in an interview
Miserablism..... for me, their greatest B-side.
