I thought you would of got the one hanging from the feeder , it gave me some buck fever I was pulling the trigger and not holding A gun , thanks for A great video.
Nice. No cruelty with you. A compassionate and humane default double-tap if the first one isn’t an immediate kill. These critters really have got to go but you do it right.
I do something similar to this, but with .22LR or .17HMR on ground squirrels out in the alfalfa fields of southern Idaho. We don't have to do any cleanup on them as the ravens, magpies, and coyotes take care of it for us.
I always double tap them too, but not needed as all the jumping is just the nervous system shutting down, but better to be sure regardless. Nice shooting.
I really look forward to your videos. You're very accurate and you have plentiful targets - some pretty big ones! Thank you for the satisfaction of watching these vermin dispatched in a humane way.
Before night vision acquisition and targeting equipment, rats hugely benefitted from the night! It is particularly pleasing to see the meticulously precise marksmanship of the shooter, culling one after the other with well aimed, humane and painless, instantaneous kills! These are highly effective means to counter the health hazards and damage caused by rats. The 22 calibre pellets are certainly powerful enough for the task, and quite an economic means to reduce the rat population.
Hi James Most of our rat shooting is from 10metres to 35 metres. If you look at the bottom right of the screen the range is shown for each shot. We don't take cover for rats. Many thanks for your comment and for watching

11:01 With that tank or barrel or whatever it is in the background, it makes me wonder: have you ever had any mishaps where you accidentally shot something you didn't intend to?
Hi Nathan Yes we have accidentally shot a couple of water tubs when the pellet went through the rat but thats about it (touch wood). Thanks for watching
There’s an interesting historical detail about rats. The Polynesian people spent hundreds of years locating every island in the pacific, as they travelled around in their outriggers. And whenever they went on a journey, they brought a cage of rats. The rats were placed on every island that they discovered. For them, releasing rats was like planting a flag.
Question from someone who's never hunted before: When a rat gets shot in the head and they start bouncing around and writhing, are they already dead and the body is involuntarily convulsing? Or is the movement after impact due to pain? Does it depend on where the rat was hit if it's one or the other? Genuinely curious.
Hi Roy All the bouncing etc after being shot in the head is due to the nerves system shutting down as they are dead. A good shot to the heart and lungs does the same. Many thanks for watching
It probably didn’t feel anything and as previously stated it’s the nervous system frantically shutting down cause it doesn’t know it’s dead yet. You will see a lot of hunters and pest controllers take head and vital shots because at most the critter may feel a slight pinch and die. Even on larger animals like deer if you hit them in the right place it’s quickly lights out.
since rats are very jumpy animals, i do believe they have alot of stored energy to take off so when they get shot and their nervous system shuts down, they twitch because their bodies are releasing all that energy
Yes, they are already dead and the extra shots are not really necessary. The muscles spasm because the brain is destroyed and no longer controlling them.
I can guarantee it felt something. If a person commits suicide by shooting themselves in the head, instant death does not occur. It will have felt like a really hard punch to the head. But yes, the nervous system shutting down is why they twitch. Still a lot of electrical activity in the body that has to go somewhere
This channel was recommended, I watch a lot of pest shooting videos, I guess YT knows me. Excellent show, thanks. I subscribed. I get a kick out of the turkeys gobbling during the shot. the estimation for the whole number of the rats in a place is "for each rat you see during the day you multiply by 100", if you see just 1 rat walking in a day, that means you have 100 rats hidden nearby. If you see 10 rats, you very probably have in your house a family of 1000 rats.
