As a Brit I absolutely love France. I will visit there over every other place in the world. I love Provence but this summer I went to Deauville. It’s great experiencing and learning about the country more. We will always be only 30 miles (sorry, 40 km) away.
Last trip to France, I spent 2 hours speaking with the bus driver. He had one of the best senses of humour. We spent the whole trip laughing. Great people, great country xx
I'm an Englishman from Kent, so I've always been fairly close to France. I always enjoy my time out there and find the French to be good folk, and not the stereotypically snobby or rude people some people think they are! Hope to get back out there again soon!
I think the average French and Brit are very similar, we all believe in democracy, law and order, we treasure our history, we respect individual rights.
@biddyboy1570 I don't mind I know a little French enough to order things and ask basic questions but when I last went in 2003 I couldn't for the life of me speak it, so I ended up having to write everything down. The French shopkeepers and restaurant staff were amused, but also appreciative that I made the attempt 😄
On a cruise we stoped in Toulon…we absolutely fell in love with it…the people are so friendly and helpful and it’s such a beautiful place…the year after we went to Marseille and fell in love with that too…I think we need to explore more about France..its culture and history….and its food and wine too
I haven't been there, but my brother and sister-in-law just visited a few weeks ago. They were surprised how much they liked Toulon, and saw an Olympic football match in Marseilles, which is a famously exciting and very old city of course. All my family love France.
I live in France. The French are exactly the same as the British, they just talk a different language. Thats what I think after 21 years here. Oh BTW I love living here.
As a Scot, we’ve always had a soft spot for the French! They’ve shaped so much of our culture here in Scotland (and the UK as a whole), and honestly, I’d stand with France for the pastries alone-proper French patisserie is truly second to none. This is the hill I’m prepared to die on! 🤣 You might hear the occasional cheeky joke down in England about 'The French,' but please don’t mistake our British sense of humour for disdain-we mock what we hold dear. The French have played such an important role in our shared history that a bit of friendly teasing just shows how much we value the connection.
Recently I took my family to the Loire Valley. We had an amazing time, the people were just so nice. At least once a day one of us will say “I wish I was still in France”
I don’t understand where the animosity comes from in the media towards France and its people. I personally have visited numerous parts of the country and love everything about it. I also find the people very warm and kind towards tourists. Beautiful country full of marvellous people in my view
@@saorsa5I'm guessing you were expecting a different response. I live in Scotland and love it and it's people. That said I have as much in common with the French (possibly more) as I do my Scottish friends.

Vous serez les bienvenus ! Mais ne passez pas tout votre temps à Londres, il y a de très beaux endroits à visiter ici. You would be most welcome ! But please do not spend all your time in London . There are some a really very beautiful places to visit here .
Now I know the same is true the other way around. I know English people who've moved to France, and who were helped out by locals when they needed help with understanding how to do something. Glad to hear they were looked after and treated right in Britain. For old enemies, you've turned out to be remarkably good friends. I agree with the sentiment about Britain and British things being in Britain and France and French things being in France. It's important each of our cultures survive, both have contributed vastly to human advancement, both must be encouraged to continue developing according to the wants and whims of our respective peoples. So that can continue. Leaving the EU was (for me) in part about that. Not about disliking anything French or German, completely the opposite. I recently visited Berlin (30 years later) and was disappointed by how much of my culture and language was everywhere. Berlin should be German, a bit of England/English mixed in is one thing, but in places there was as much England/English as there is in London. Didn't seem right to me. I loved (just as much as I did 30 years ago) Berlin, but it could have done with having less of my ways and language in it.
Thank you very much for your kind words. It is very nice to hear ☺️ I like the English too! 😊 I wish you a good success with learning French language :) I am sure it will come back ☺️
It's never too late to learn! Thank you for learning our language, hang on as it's definitely not easy, but with some time and practice, one can achieve anything :) I was lucky to be able to learn English from a young age. It's still far from perfect but still, I'm glad I'm able to fully experience your great country by being able to have genuine conversations with the locals!
Things I like about England: efficiency, slim bureaucracy, beer, the atmosphere you get in pubs, the banter you get in sports, very friendly shop assistants, the countryside full of wild blackberries and apples, cream tea, the beaches in the south west. Also the weather isn’t bad, a bit rainy, but the sun also comes out quite often, it never gets too cold like Scandinavia or Germany.
Was pleasantly surprised to hear so many complimentary comments about England from French people. It should be like this both ways actually, we are very close neighbours but anyway I was not expecting this.
I am very glad you enjoyed watching the video and were presently surprised ☺️ I have actually also filmed interviews from the English side: “I asked British people what they think about the French” th-cam.com/video/fJ81dZ9y-Kw/w-d-xo.html, which I would recommend to watch as you may be pleasantly surprised by the results too 😊🏴🇬🇧🇫🇷
France is an extremely beautiful country too. The food and wine are great, and the local cultures are preserved well in many areas. Aside from some issues in one city - Paris - I have otherwise found all French people very friendly and welcoming, and some were also patient enough to help to correct my errors in French, which I appreciated (if nobody tells you, it is harder to learn). Of course, being English, I take the p... out of the French - it is my obligation to do that - but frankly, most Brits do not insult their enemies, they are not worth the effort. Only friends are worthy victims of well-constructed insult!
As a Brit who lives in Central Europe, I love driving over the border into Eastern France and exploring the picturesque villages and towns in that area. It is amazing escapism, and gives me a refreshing mind reset to continue my life in Central Europe. I love France, such an amazing country to explore !
We need to spend more time in each others country. Then we realise we are almost exactly the same. I love France for its differences, but I love the UK for the security blanket it puts around me, no matter where I go, I feel I am home!
Well, that went better than I was expecting! I was expecting the French to universally hate us. 😆 In all the times I've visited France, I've only met one person I didn't like, and that was a bus driver in Nice who refused to even entertain my attempts at schoolboy French. I may as well have been attempting to speak to him in some obscure Chinese dialect than in French, but maybe he was just having a bad day! But apart from him, I absolutely love the French. 😊 P.S. I did study French to advanced level for six years at school, but that was a long time ago. So I can admit that my French is rusty, but I didn't think it was incomprehensible. They always seem to understand me when I have to speak French on my frequent trips to Morocco! 😆
I love coming to France. I've always found it very friendly (outside Paris!)... friendlier than the UK certainly. And French people stick up for their rights more!
We stick up to our rights plenty, I don’t know why it’s always fellow Brits who say otherwise. We have a long history of protests and standing up for our principles, are we forgetting the suffragettes? Britain was also at the forefront of the enlightenment era. I could go on…
@@phoenixrose1192 I've seen the French strike for very minor changes to their work T&Cs, whereas we Brits roll over until it hits breaking point. Trust me (I work extensively with both), the French are WAY more militant when it comes to workers' rights
I am English from Lincolnshire 😊I had a great holiday in San Marlo but i could tell who was French or English straight away 😊I do like the big shutters you have on your windows.😂
Thank you :). Yes it was quite incredible, I was by the seaside to film more interviews and I felt a few drops. Then it started to pour down so much and I ran to shelter under a nearby roof until the rain calmed-down (and I was able to interview someone who had come to shelter too!). On my way back home that day I saw a number of drain covers that had lifted and rested by the side of the drain hole! This shows how strong the rain was. It was sunny the next day ☺️
@@AFrenchguyinEngland That’s because rain clouds come in from the Atlantic, cross Britain then head for France. They are always on the move. But we all ignore that because pretending clouds are static is a great conversation starter.

Like most siblings, the rivalries of our formative years (colonialism) have been put behind us and we have entered a far more caring stage with the wisdom of older age. Also like many siblings, it was probably that time when a bully started on our sister (WW1/WW2) that we got that sense of "we are the only one that gets to pick on her", then promptly steped in to defend her. It reminded us both that, despite the squabling and bickering, we do care really ... well, at least sometimes 😜🤭 🇨🇵❤🇬🇧

I really like the French. I’m actually just learning the language at the age of 48, having not done it since the age of 15.
Thank you very much for your kind words. It is very nice to hear ☺️ I like the English too! 😊

Have the best memories on holiday in France as a kid
Things I like about England: efficiency, slim bureaucracy, beer, the atmosphere you get in pubs, the banter you get in sports, very friendly shop assistants, the countryside full of wild blackberries and apples, cream tea, the beaches in the south west. Also the weather isn’t bad, a bit rainy, but the sun also comes out quite often, it never gets too cold like Scandinavia or Germany.
I lived in France for a year, working in ski resorts. Loved it had a great time.
It sounds wonderful! The views must have been amazing! ☺️🇫🇷

I am very glad you enjoyed the video! ☺️ Do not worry about the language, it will come back. It is like bicycle 😊🇫🇷🏴🇬🇧
