      It's actually not bad if there is no rain~ the wet shoe is making the trek more challenging.

    I once took a flight to Belaga, way up the Rejang river in Sarawak. The rain that night soaked the landing field and I had to return to Sibu on a 6hr riverboat ride, with swirling Rapids here and there.This area of the world is just so beautiful!

      It sound scary to take long hour boat journey there!!!!! any stop for food and toilet break?

    I've stayed at this national park before in 2008. Back then it was very rustic and not very updated but it looks better now. I went for a night trail, seen the proboscis monkies, pitcher plants and the beaches are amazing.

      @@Follow_ussg hi I am back frm Kuching yesterday! For Bako NP… 5.50am we departed frm hotel by prebooked AA ride for RM40. Actually I was planning to take the red bus but… I contacted Anita, the boat incharge lady. She asked me to come before 630am on 8 April due to the tides schedule. So it’s ok, It’s good to be there really early . The boatman was there to wait for us. I paid RM250 for a private boat n one way trip to teluk pandan kecil. Before 7 am we had arrived Bako NP. The scene was awesome n really beautiful 🤩….

    Looks a little more organised than when I last went to Bako NP in 2004, Back then you had to look for the boatmen and negotiate your own price depending how many shared the boat. There was no terminal as such just the boat pier. One time we went at very low tide and the boat got grounded, everyone out to push.. First time we had to wade from the beach as tide was so low. There was no shade over most of the boats. The sea is much browner at monsoon times too. It seems much has changed. The menu in the canteen is very much improved too. The wild boar I believe is the Asian bearded pig. Spent a lot of time on the trails looking for the Probocis monkies, Telok Delima no success, but came back to park HQ and they were on the beach. Also walked to Telok Tajor and on a different visit we went to Telok Pandan Kecil. It was later in the year and we went down to the beach for a swim, the water was much clearer. Glad you got to see the Proboscis monkies out on the trail and also the Silver langur, these are the good monkies the Long Tailed Macaques are very naughty. Your visit brings back happy memories. It is sad to see so many plastic bottles, I don't recall so many when we last visited

    • @Follow_ussg
      @Follow_ussg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow~
      I think we visited the same year but my first visit was unable to get into Bako due to strong wave.
      I met 3 Belgium girls 3weeks ago in Mulu, they stayed there for few nights and say they had a great time there.
      We hate the Long Tailed Macaques like the Australian hate the kangaroo :p very naughty and aggressive.
      Sarawak has improved a lot on the tourism sites, you should come back again and you will get some tips form my Sarawak trip video.... And remember to go soak in the hot spring!

      @@Follow_ussg Yes we have been back to Sarawak a few times since then, my wife has family in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri, the last time we visited just as the pandemic was breaking out. We love the national parks with Bako and Gunung Gading being two of our favourites and my favourite little town is Lundu. It was great last time to be able to visit mile 0 of the Pan Borneo Highway out at Telok Melano, previously only accessable by boat. Not been to Mulu caves but have been to Niah, it's quite spectacular watching the gathering of birds nests on bamboo scaffold and to see the guys collecting guano in huge sacks on their backs those guys are strong. Sarawak has so much to offer and is often forgotten.

      Bring at least 1.5L of drinking water, strong umbrella as walking stick and for the sun light and food to boost energy (^_^)

    Nice hike Jim. . . You definitely had a great cardio work out
    The view was great. But so disappointed with the visual pollution on the beach. Why do people throw rubbish onto a beautiful beach
    So surprised there were no snakes in that kind of terrain.

    • @Follow_ussg
      @Follow_ussg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah! My sis and I had many many gasses of wine on that evening!
      I think the environment awareness and the trash pick up system is not that good in the country side, so most people just throw the rubbish into the sea, that is very sad that the people and gov did not improve on the issue after soooooooo long! I think they need another 20yrs to improve the problem.
      I think the weather was too hot when I visit, else sure will see some snakes!
