Today low cost means using plastics as main material. Since the durability is very short for most items I am wondering why people want that shop to be closed ? This is about convenience for many low budgets families. Plastics dominate the all store.
For me I felt like this place is overrated. My view, if you live along those sides then yes it's cheaper. But Kamukunji is home. I went there and I was super tired and felt drained 🥴
This is way better than what’s available in Walmarts in the USA 🇺🇸 - the variety and quality is insane. Not to mention the fact that items are as expensive and most more than in the USA 🇺🇸 yet people are paying with cash and debit cards in Nairobi. Meaning a huge middle class yet these are supposed to be cheaper than what’s available locally wow! Walmart failed to set up shop on the continent for years - reason Africans are dirt poor 😂. Thanks for sharing. China 🇨🇳 is not playing in Africa.
Walmart doesn't even come close. Lots of variety here and prices way cheaper than Walmart. No wonder there's a scramble for Africa from the West, knowing the Chinese are solidifying their presence there. They should open more China Squares in different parts of Nairobi and other big cities.

@@misswiro I heard the news when I was flipping through news about Taiwan/China & found this incident very interesting… after I dig through some information & know a bit more about Kenya… such as % of import duties & 16% VAT for traders/importers… regardless, Kenya’s consuming goods are too expensive when you compare with your monthly salary, saw your video so I’m assuming it’s 30k kes a month… here in American, a low skill worker that requires no real education pays around 240k kes a month & if your not picky on name brand, our consuming goods are a lot cheaper even if you factor in 25% import tax (average)…, your government is setting your people to fail, something needs to change or majority of the population will never be “rich” no matter how hard you try.
