Walk with me in downtown Olongapo in Zambales Philippines. I haven't been back here in almost two years, and it was raining the last time I was here. I had so many requests to do this walk in downtown Olongapo, so I hope this makes you happy =) Good to be back in the province of Zambales, enjoy the video!
1971 last time I was there just finished jungle survival training will be getting on the USS Blueridge heading to Vietnam I am writing this in 2024 how time flies amazing that the USS Blueridge is still around as a comand ship that goes for me too bless all soldiers past, present and future!
I was born there in 83, came to America (Guam) in 89. Went back again, last time i was there was when Mt. Pinatubo erupted 91. I remember the ashes had small crystals in them and if you collect enough you can sell it. I'm thinking WHAT IF i never became a US citizen, I can only imagine how my life would be like if i never left.
While I appreciate your gear listed below, I'm curious what camera you are using here. In your gear list you have a few cameras in your list. what specifically is the one you use here? great quality.
Last time I was in Magsaysay Drive was during early 90's. Looks totally different and I barely recognized place anymore except for that building fronting SM which used to be Hot City Disco Club. Times changed this area big time.
I've have been to USA provided home here in Olongapo in the 80s when US base was still here! It was absurd to an average Filipino in the 80s! Centralized cooling and heaters bathtubs in bathrooms! Their food also different, all US branded! Of course they have washers and driers in the 80s! Can't think of a small thing they have that did not come from the US. The houses and their plants were designed like US homes. The cars also came from US-my relatives have this Van Life like car where it has a living room at at the back or bed of the truck. Throughout video, I was thinking what if the US base did not leave. I realized it was better they left as there will be huge imbalance in life in Olongapo due to the flow of money and the love and sex interaction in the area.
I made two westpacs on the USS Ranger CV61 75-76 and 78-79. Not the same place for sure. I would hide on the second floor of the American Legion and watch the circus from behind the chicken wire.

Ang linis ng olongapo. Di tulad ng malaking basurahan ng pangalang METRO MANILA!
Mahal kong Olongapo
Have heard much of Olongapo. Where is all the "action"? 🙂
