You know why people are turning to MAID? Because a single disabled person in Ontario recieves $1,100 dollars a month. $450 for housing and $650 for needs and neccessities.
An average room in Ontario is around $700 to $900 with bachelor apartments in the middle of butt fu** nowhere. The oversea investors have purchased a lot of homes and the immigrants have taken homes and a lot of apartments.
The price of everything is at an all time high while the rates of most disablity programs in each providence hasn't increased the amount a single person recieves.
You know the increase in homeless population? It's all single men. Wake up Canada.
I just want to add, that during COVID, they gave everyone 2,200 dollars and said it was "slightly" over the poverty line and should be enough for people to survive.
Their own words. They don't care if disabled people survive. In fact, they even opened MAID to allow people to unalive themselves instead of give them more money. That's sick.

Agreed! My blind brother just moved home from Toronto. He’s on ODSP. He had to live in TO for medical reasons his bachelor apartment was $1100 a month that’s what ODSP pays. My other brother, my mom and I split paying for all his other costs like food, utilities, transportation, medication etc. it’s another $1300 a month. We all work extra to make sure he lives. When he moved home last month his apartment was raised to $2500 a month to a bachelor. He cried knowing he would never be able to afford to move back to TO. He loves it there because he has more independence. We treat our disabled community like trash!

Every time I go for help in Nova Scotia, I’m told the province doesn’t have money for treatment and turned away. I know a medication change would help, but instead I was diagnosed with an untreatable condition that is so far off the mark. I finally found therapy outside the provincial system that is helping, but it’s not going to treat my escalating mood disorder.

There are important medicine that can be used to treat drug addiction in BC and even those drugs are not covered by Govt. IMO it’s cruel to allow MAID for curable mental illnesses without first giving them the medicine and treatment that they need and has shown to have a high effectiveness rate.

She was institutionalized for the last FIVE years, suffering in pain and distress, no hope for a cure, a heartbreak in all levels. At the beginning of her diagnosis I believe she would have chosen euthanasia over her suffering with the time of her choosing while she was able to make the request, or written wishes for a later date. Contrast that to the loving way I was able put my dog to sleep when there was no cure and it was time to ease her pain and suffering, she was held and loved until the end.

Like what tf do people think what happened to people in a society that only values a certain way of thinking and behavior? Wtf happens to kids who are forced to think and behave a certain way.
Apparently, the West has a history or a tendency of trying to break quiet kids out of their personality. Parents and teachers have been doing this for decades, and they have done this with other types of behavior that certain people have. People should look more into that this

Funny that Mark Holland is in charge of anything, but in particular this. He first came to prominence for criminalizing gun ownership. He should have left well enough alone and this problem would have taken care of itself. Guys in particular like to shoot themselves when the time comes, and most of the gun deaths are just that. Saves doctors from being compromised. I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who can't master the mechanics of this kind of thing. And there are lots of options that aren't "violent". But governments criminalized them and the people who helped others with their plans. So we are left with local dufus Mark Holland to carry the weight. They are putting it off for political reasons. They know it stains them red like their party colors, and they will wait until after the next election. If they happen to loose, then it is a great problem for the conservatives, whether they go ahead or not.

My older brother suffered from Schizoaffective disorder and was well-controlled for many years with the help of the healthcare system and medications. He revealed to me a number of years ago that he went through a period of time where he was severely depressed and thought of committing suicide. He didn't want to deal with his illness anymore. If he had had the option for assisted suicide he would have taken it instead of what happened - he was put on a new medicine that helped his depressive site and he lived his final years the happiest I had ever seen him. He passed a few years ago but I thank God everyday that I had him in my life until the end. No person with mental health issues should ever be allowed to make this life altering decision ever.
