@UnderbellyNZ The NCAA has granted permission to do something permanent on the court at that spot. What's there now is only temporary. After the season is over for both men and women, they are going to do something with that spot but they're keeping their ideas quiet so far.

If a lot of people could do it, they would be in college with a full ride scholarship to make those shots and break records......oh wait!! That's what Caitlin has done in 4 years! You don't "get" that what she can do with a basketball is not ordinary. Two days ago, she broke a scoring record that was over 50 years old. There was no 3 point line back then, but that's not my problem. If Caitlin's feats weren't so awesome, people wouldn't be paying thousands of dollars just to get into a game to see her play. Last year's NCAA tournament sold out for all Iowa games because people wanted to see this skinny, white girl from Iowa who could shoot like Steph Curry, and there were more than 10 million people watching at home. One more thing, Steph Curry is a fan of Caitlin's. If you don't believe me, google it. One of the things he has said is "It's not a bad shot if you can make it, and she can make it". His words, not mine. So when someone like Steph says something like that, that is respect. Don't annoy me again with your ridiculous claims that can't be backed up.

Caitlin claimed in an interview that they put the logo farther away than she really took the shot. I re-watched the replay, it's BS. It is EXACTLY where she took the shot. AMAZING.

That is actually just a cool idea. It definitely needs to be reserved for very high-level records, and it should just be on the actual court where it happened, but having a marker at the spot where a record was broken just seems awesome.
I would've bricked a shot from that spot too if I were one of them. Deep left wing three pointers are quite difficult to make when you're right handed in basketball. Caitlin's perimeter shooting is outstanding.
Why would it be difficult? You're right handed, your shooting hand is facing the basket. It should be easier than the right wing three pointer when you're right handed.
@@mathmagic10It's just based off my personal experience. Some basketball players can shoot well regardless of where they're standing within half-court, and some of us simply can't shoot well from certain spots. I'm good with making practice 3-pointers from shooting from the top of the key, right wing, and from both corners. Left wing 3-pointers are the hardest spot for me.

@vh448 It will disappoint a LOT of people, but that championship can't be won by Caitlin alone. She needs a bunch of weapons who can work with her. Everyone needs to bring their "A game" to EVERY game. We have to be realistic about it that there are a LOT of great teams out there, and they are all gunning for Iowa after how we did last year. It's a lot for these ladies to shoulder. They have to get through the B1G tournament first. It's not going to be easy whoever they play after this last game.

@@mikeibit5891 Did you see tonight's game against Minnesota? Just about every player was shooting the lights out. CC got a triple double, Gabbie, Molly, Syd, Kylie, McCabe, were all hitting from behind the arc. Hannah and Addy did great under the basket, and while Sharon didn't play much, she and Ediger both contributed. Gyambi was in late in the game, but I don't think she scored. Iowa won 108-60. Minnesota is a young team, and they played hard, never gave up, but Iowa was on fire.

Yeah, when I was 15 and never played basketball all day in my life, I could make those type of shots. I still might be able to at 38 even though I haven’t shot basketball hoops in the driveway for 20 some years if I had a smaller ball and closer 3 point line like they do
@@TH-camisRacisttowardswhitepeo first: the line is the exact same for both men and womens. second, the ball is once inch smaller. 3 mens balls can fit through the rim at a single time and you'd still be no where close. if you could even hit the rim in your first 25 attempts it'd be a miracle.
@@idkanymore1871 I didn’t have to lie to defend my point that’s the difference the 3 line is 1.5 feet closer for women and the ball is 1.7 inches smaller in circumference and 2 ounces lighter .. the only thing I got wrong is the hoops is 10 feet for both I though they changed it when the women wanted it lowered so they can dunk

They brought out a tape measure after one game and put it from the basket to where she shot an insanely massive 3, and it WAS 40' and a few inches. This might not be quite that far, but do you think when you were in your prime, you could have just stepped to that spot, put up the ball, and see it go right through the net? Forget the size of the logo. Those dimensions are the same as they were more than 60 years ago when I was a kid. The mid court line is 47', and the basket is 10' above the floor. I know I couldn't have come close, and now that I'm an old woman with a bad shoulder and a bad knee, there is no way I could come close. I love watching them play.

Something as simple as me running 10.8 sec 100m which is decent in my state would mean that i'm faster than some of the best college women spinters. Lol and i'm not TOO for from women in the olympics. I hit 10.8 in highschool and i was not the fastest in my state. not even close. I was fast for football but not as fast @ the 100m sprint. Sometimes i'll run 10.7 it's not that hard. For women it's unreal. In reality men or males have a dominate physical biological make up. They are there to die first so the offsprings can have a chance. Which means men within humans are designed to be aggressive and the ones to die to let his family survive. Lmfao. Thank you to the announcer for saying it's the women's scoring record. Other ncaa basketball divisions are different sports with their own records and you can't compare the two. There is no "division 1 basketball scoring record" as so many people are saying. They are two different sports with different rules and different requirements to play.

In the record-breaking Michigan game, for instance, she was responsible for 79 of the teams 106 total points via FG's and Assists --that's 75%. In today's game, she had low (for her) total of 24 pts (on poor shooting) but had 10 assists and grabbed 15 rebounds--that's a lot contact with the ball. And she usually brings the ball up the floor. Then, think about being constantly double-teamed, picked up early at half-court--all things necessary from a defensive point of view if you don't want her to make you look like an absolute fool. The opportunities for turnovers are immense. So, is your point that she sucks because of a high number of turnovers?
