There was this radio program I listened to as a kid that had some of the scariest plot lines I've ever heard. I listened as a beloved character was thrown from a moving vehicle off a cliff, to prevent himself from being tortured to death, and barely survived. It was billed as being totally kid friendly
This is kind of a long shot, but was this Adventures in Odyssey? That exact thing happened in an Adventures in Odyssey miniseries arc from the 90s, and either I know the exact character and episode you're talking about or family-friendly radio dramas have a really weird fondness for this specific scenario. Both options are great imho.

@uralyre the whole arc should be episodes 324 through 334. Bear in mind I haven't listened to it in over a decade so I may remember it slightly more fantastical than it really was, but I do remember even my parents being surprised by how dark and intense this particular plot was. If you haven't listened to the really old episodes (pre 2000s) you've missed out on some intense stuff

As someone who used to watch these as a dumb idiot 6 year old, these videos are pretty predatory. The videos pressure kids into buying their merch by saying that the kids can solve their puzzles by buying a package that their selling full of “spy gear.” They would usually put codes in their videos and tell the kids to decode it with their spy stuff. Thankfully, I didnt want it bad enough to beg my parents for one, but it still pressures kids into thinking that theyre the only ones that can save them from their crazy situation by cracking the code. Also Im pretty sure these things were pretty expensive, soooo.

My former friend used to tell me about the hacker who was in these videos and how the hacker hacks TH-cam channels and shuts them down. I was terrified when she told me that and even though I was skeptical over how real it was, I was still scared that the hacker would hack my fav TH-camrs (I have OCD, so that didn't really help with the "Hacker" destroying people's YT channels thing) Kid Channels should really think about stuff like this and how it could affect kids before they film stuff like this. Kids are also gullible and will believe that the hacker is real.
