@TrueAnarkii whenever people use labels like far-left/right, it's only in relation to their local standards. In this case European standards. Sovereignists and Patriots are the most far-right parties in Europe, whether or not you consider their views reasonable. Japan isn't in Europe, their society is very different, so trying to stick then into this makes no sense at all.
@@tiihonhaukanmaki3874 "Whenever people use labels like far-left/right, it's only in relation to their local standards." This is an oversimplification and somewhat misleading. Political ideologies have core principles that transcend local standards. Socialism, for example, is broadly associated with the left, while capitalism is associated with the right. By examining historical and contemporary political environments, we can categorize policies across the political spectrum. In France, labeling right-leaning parties as far-right is misleading and does not align with traditional right-wing or center-right categorizations. This reframing serves to justify the left's positions by portraying the opposition as more extreme, thus normalizing their own stance. A similar tactic is observed in Ireland, where working-class individuals are smeared as far-right for advocating for reasonable immigration adjustments. This is a clear example of propaganda and manipulation of language. "In this case European standards. Sovereignists and Patriots are the most far-right parties in Europe, whether or not you consider their views reasonable." You mean right-leaning parties. True far-right policies would involve extreme measures such as banning homosexuality, prohibiting all immigration, expelling all non-native races, or denying women access to education. These are examples of genuinely far-right policies, observed in some countries with strict authoritarian regimes. On the other hand, far-left policies can lead to highly controlled, dystopian societies, as depicted in George Orwell's "1984." Interestingly, extreme left and right ideologies can converge in their authoritarianism, highlighting the dangers of such extremes regardless of their political origin. This mislabeling of right-leaning parties as far-right is a tactic to paint the opposition as more radical than they truly are. "Japan isn't in Europe, their society is very different, so trying to stick them into this makes no sense at all." I mentioned Japan as a rhetorical device to illustrate the concept of shifting political baselines. If a party in France advocated for policies similar to Japan's stance on dual citizenship or strict immigration controls, they would likely be labeled as far-right. However, Japan maintains a more balanced approach to labeling left and right, without the extreme political rhetoric or polarization seen in Europe. Japan's political climate is relatively stable and less polarized, providing a contrast to the more extreme labeling practices in Europe. This highlights how political labeling can vary widely based on local political dynamics and how terms like "far-right" can be misused for strategic purposes.
It's important to note the fact that the ESN group was the brainchild and the creation of the Bulgarian party "Vazrazhdane", not AfD. As a matter of fact, when Vazrazhdane first pitched the idea to AfD about a year ago, the AfD was skeptical that such a group can even be formed, but here we are. Moreover, the ESN group has plans to grow much bigger by the end of this year with many other parties that have pledged to join them.

So, tell us exactly why this position, which does not advocate for ending democracy but in fact devolving power to individual states and their elected representatives, should be characterized as "far right." Should democracy itself be considered "far-right"?
Because their policy position in the European political context is a nationalistic one and nationalism is a right-wing ideology, with ultranationalism being far-right. PfE is generally right-wing in terms of their Euroscepticism but far-right on other matters like immigration.
@@falsevacuum4667 Meloni and Orban are perfectly aligned on immigration and also other right wing values. The exception being the Ukraine war. @@Hardcore_Remixer I 100% agree with everything you said, the problem is that most far right parties aren't concerned about nationality, mostly about color and religion, making them the second thing you described. For example RN centered their campaign arround the fear of islam belief taking over France. That is not nationalism, and replacing Islam by Jews might reveal the problem
@@joelimbergamo639 The thing is that skin color is a criterias by which one can make statistics when the country the 1ll3gal 1mm1grants came from is not known (to be honest, if they are undocumented then all you have about them is their word). Religion also helps make criterias and understand how they act and what they seek. So far, many muslim 1ll3gal 1mm1grants in France meet the following: - won't assimilate - come only for the welfare system which benefits them - don't work - form gangs - won't even bother to learn French This being said, they have come to France and made themselves into a nat10nal problem of France so they have earned their label, hence why they are now the most expected group to commit these actions of their group. This reputation wasn't built in one day. Again, they are more like a group of nationalities rather than just one nationality, hence why the skin color and the religion is used to make criterias, for simplicity. I'm fine with legal 1mm1grants of **any** skin color and religion as long as they integrate. Though, some countries may have a different religion as part of theor culture so that may also play a role in nat10nal1sm. It's not that these groups are hat3d, but they simply pose a threat to the nat10nal secur1ty so they are an obstacle of nat10nal1sm and nat10nal1sm reacts naturally by backfiring. And the issue of Izrayel (YT won't let me say it for some reason) is no reason for us to let ourselves stabb3d. I agree it wasn't right to replace the musl1ms there with j3ws, but now I only see 3 options for this issu3 and none is good: 1) Leave Izrayel on its own. 2) Keep the W3sts foodhold in the Middle East as a strategic point (nothing changes). 3) Turn against Izrayel. Either way the damage is already done and ww only have bad options which I'm not really that much interested in (I mean I'm fine with any of them).
Very clear. I would live to see a breakdown of potential alliances on different topics. For example: defense, who would support and who would be against; EU federalism: who would be pro and against...etc.
From what I see non of these are "far-right" they're are soft to middle right. Also epp isn't rightwing by any means so they can be added to the left side. The center moved so far to the left that what was a traditional conservative right 30 years ago is now far right.
Calling ESN pro-russian as a whole is very unfair, especially when you mentioned PfE as the limited-pro-ukrainian option. Fidesz at this point opposes basically every form of supporting Ukraine, RN and AFD both say basically the same about Russia. You mentioned Dutch PVV's more anti-russian politics than most of PfE parties', but you forgot to say anything about Polish NN, from which co-chairman of ESN Stanisław Tyszka comes from, and they're definitely anti-russian just like the whole Polish political spectrum, as their leader called Putin a war criminal, a murderer, and a barbarian, and said that Poland should support Ukraine, because having a long border with Russia is something opposite to Polish national interest. And yes, there are parties like Slovakian Republika which are russophilic, but what you said sounds like russophilia was something that unites the whole ESN group, which is simply not true.
Valótlanságot állítasz, hogy a Fidesz (Magyarország) Ukrajna támogatásának minden formáját ellenzi. Kizárólag a fegyver támogatást ellenzi. Az egészségügyet, az oktatást, az energia ellátást, az infrastruktúra fejlesztést, a katasztrófa elhárítást és számos területen segíti Ukrajnát.
Portugal’s Chega is also anti-Putin. Words from its Leader, André Ventura: “we wouldn’t join the Patriots if they were to support Russia instead of Ukraine. That said: Chega is totally in support of Ukraine”
Mainly anti migration, euro scepticism, and opposing greens. But it really is mislabeling because these labels are based of political spectrum some 20 years ago. Much more accurate would be to label EPP as centre (more EU, migrants, green policies), ECR as centre right (in favour of EU, migrants, green stuff roughly as it currently is), Patriots as right wing (less of all 3), and ESN as far right (no EU, no migrants, no green policies) As for the left, you choose what they are on. So renew is extra EU, S&D is extra migrants, greens are well ... extra green and "the left" as the party, is extra "lets break the economy"
Meloni's party has almost a perfect alignment on values with Orban's Fidesz party, except on Ukraine war. Why is the later labeled as far-right and the former just right?
It's just not because of Ukraine. The ECR and PfE also have difference stances on how to deal with immigration for example - the ECR wants a collective response while the PfE wants every single country to make their own migration policies, some of them even proposing to abolish Schengen.

So le pen is far right , im interested to see if you use the same kind of labelling for the new far left french party, considering they have literal communists in them
So what is the difference between Meloni's ECR and the EPP? And do you really have to be an ultra-nationalist/"far right" to want to control immigration into your country? According to this video, immigration was not even an issue in the right wing alignment negotiations (timestamp 8:28 ).
Well most of the against immigration sentiment comes from far-right narratives. For example, the narrative that immigration is equal to more crimes does not have a lot of evidences. Immigration repeatedly proven to lead to economic growth, and are especially useful in country where the population growth is low like in Europe. What is true however is that poverty is equal to more crimes. The solution to that is support from the state. However, for the far-right it's easier to kick the migrants (who are often the poorest people) out instead of fixing the system, which will lead to nothing but more crime and less economic growth as you now have a bunch of jobs that nobody in your country want tot do. If you want a good example you can take a look at the gypsies. They have their country's nationality, they have all of the rights necessary to get their kids in school but they don't. Because centuries if unrecognized genocides, segregation and hostilities have made them distrusting of schools and administrations in general. Alienating part of the population only make things worst.
@@Sir_BucketI think you're conflating the general concept of migration and the current migration crisis. I'm perfectly fine with an african applying for a visa, then renewing it for 5 years straight and finally passing a citizenship test while working in a restaurant and contributing to sociaty. That is no where near the same thing as millions of violent military age men forcefully breaking throught the border then being given a free house and no identity check. The latter absolutly does cause higher crime rates.
@@myname7937 "military age" is a weird term, and betrays a certain bias. People are not "breaking in", they're going through asylum requests (which is an identity check), which are notoriously hard to go through unless you are inside of the host country. The problem is, refugees with an asylum autorisation cannot work for 5 years (at least in France) after their arrival, meaning even if they want they cannot interact with the french economy. This leads to more crime. Before asking that everybody follows the system, ask yourself if the system works. Esepcially with migrants, which are the voice with one of the lowest media representation in Europe. Everybody talk about them, but nearly nobody let them talk.
@@Sir_BucketLol how is it not proven when crime statistics went up in all countries with mass migration? And those with limited migration (mainly eastern Europe) are safer than Western and Northern Europe which used to have much less crime in the 90's. There is actually a debate whether immigration helped economy, illegal migrants are mainly a liability, so are second generation "legal" migrants. Legal migration often benefits corporations and big business but undercuts local workers. Don't forget that the desire to preserve national identity and cohesive culture, not to become multicultural state full of ghettos, religious and ethnic tensions is also labeled far right.
Well, by this video, i think the ECR group is the most balanced between the values of sovereignty and eu integration. They represent the idea of what a confederal EU would be.
Great video. My view is that instead of patriots for Europe it could have just stayed ID and welcome ANO and Orban... same thing. But marketing is everything

Fidesz is a right-wing nationalist party. Not as radical as MHM but they are definitely not center-right. They were kicked out of the EPP for being too radical compared to actual centrist-leaning parties. Orban is literally a pariah in Europe.
Wish everyone would not speak of far-left or far-right as it been washed out and does not correlate to the truth and poorly defined. Adding "far" is just a mean to alienate the "other" that are not like "us" and paint them as extremists. Sovereignists and Patriots are the most far-right parties in Europe, whether or not you consider their views reasonable. Japan isn't in Europe, their society is very different, so trying to stick then into this makes no sense at all.

@@tiihonhaukanmaki3874
"Whenever people use labels like far-left/right, it's only in relation to their local standards."
This is an oversimplification and somewhat misleading.
Sovereignists and Patriots are the most far-right parties in Europe, whether or not you consider their views reasonable."
You mean right-leaning parties.
"Japan isn't in Europe, their society is very different, so trying to stick them into this makes no sense at all."
I mentioned Japan as a rhetorical device to illustrate the concept of shifting political baselines.
This is exactly the kind of video I was hoping we would get, amazing!
Thanks!

7:15 "The Patriots for Europe are a far-right leaning group that believes in a Europe of strong and independent nations. As Eurosceptics, they promote national sovereignty, and oppose any further transfers of power to European institutions. In fact, they advocate for power to be returned to the member-states." So, tell us exactly why this position, which does not advocate for ending democracy but in fact devolving power to individual states and their elected representatives, should be characterized as "far right." Should democracy itself be considered "far-right"?
Because their policy position in the European political context is a nationalistic one and nationalism is a right-wing ideology, with ultranationalism being far-right. PfE is generally right-wing in terms of their Euroscepticism but far-right on other matters like immigration.

Thanks for the update. I'm left wondering why RN left ID for the patriots party, and why ID collapsed.
ID colapsed because man parties liked Orban and before losing face Le Pen joined with him
@@alexlehrersh9951 Basically ID was led by Le Pen and she refused to allow Fidesz to join, so Orban created his own group and essentially convinced all of ID to defect to his new party group.
So far, many muslim 1ll3gal 1mm1grants in France meet the following:
- won't assimilate
- come only for the welfare system which benefits them
- don't work
- form gangs
- won't even bother to learn French
This being said, they have come to France and made themselves into a nat10nal problem of France so they have earned their label, hence why they are now the most expected group to commit these actions of their group.
I agree it wasn't right to replace the musl1ms there with j3ws, but now I only see 3 options for this issu3 and none is good:
1) Leave Izrayel on its own.
2) Keep the W3sts foodhold in the Middle East as a strategic point (nothing changes).
3) Turn against Izrayel.
Either way the damage is already done and ww only have bad options which I'm not really that much interested in (I mean I'm fine with any of them).

Can someone explain what makes ECR far right, sounds like a reasonable right of centre party to me?
Thats why its in the limit. But things like LGBT and abortion rights provably
Mainly anti migration, euro scepticism, and opposing greens. But it really is mislabeling because these labels are based of political spectrum some 20 years ago. Much more accurate would be to label EPP as centre (more EU, migrants, green policies), ECR as centre right (in favour of EU, migrants, green stuff roughly as it currently is), Patriots as right wing (less of all 3), and ESN as far right (no EU, no migrants, no green policies)
As for the left, you choose what they are on. So renew is extra EU, S&D is extra migrants, greens are well ... extra green
and "the left" as the party, is extra "lets break the economy"
Mainly migration and traditional and reactionary values
For example in France it is the most extreme far right party that joined ecr, with policies such as deportation for immigrants (even legal ones)
@@joelimbergamo639So basically center-right from 20 years ago.

Meloni's party has almost a perfect alignment on values with Orban's Fidesz party, except on Ukraine war. Why is the later labeled as far-right and the former just right?
