Such a great topic, I've enjoyed rigging some characters in maya for personal projects but never considered applying for a job as a rigger because I dont know practical scripting yet, definitely going to check out more of your videos! Thanks
Ya , I think scripting can make life easier and save time of every artist , specifically in smaller studios where artist can save time by automating tasks, at the same time as bigger studios may have technical people to help creative artists to do scripting for them, but still I personally believe coding gave me a new thinking perspective kind of reasoning , logical mindset ...
@@notjaydanbhooshan93 Scripting is essential to become a successful Rigger but it's not a must to start professionally. Don't wait too long. Take some weeks, make the best reel you can and apply. The industry will tell you if you need more practice. 😉

Ah, this help me a lot because i´m very interesting in Rigging but i always thinking that it is neccesary to know script and Phyton. With her explanation I feel more confortable modeling and rigg because i´m not good scripting but i hope develop more riggs
A good production rigger knows how to automate their processes. Some it can be done via Maya, some of it via Python. Don't have to be an expert but it's important to use the basics to become a better rigger. Read more: www.alexanderrichtertd.com/post/is-python-essential-for-rigging
You get this scenario: "I just got hired to rig characters on a small game studio." "Welcome new hire we want you to rig this character with our proprietary tools we have at out disposal and our regular tool developer made." "Sure thing , hmm why is this tool taking so long." "Oh look that tool added a bunch of tags and weird stuff in the scene maybe I should delete these since I'm not using them." "Gosh this rig is so bare bones I should get my own scripts and automate the process" "Alright it's been 2 hours how is the rig?" "Sure thing, I'm still writing some stuff to make it better but here is the rig." "Looks weird there are a bunch of controllers we didn't ask for and what happened to the dependencies." "Uhm I just deleted those notes they seemed not important." "Well you have to start over cause those dependencies helped export the rig and make it game ready."
What do you say? Is scripting essential to become a production Rigger?

Such projects can be fairly complex. It's even more important to know every aspect of your work even Python to be prepared for everything. ;)
I really want to get into the intersections of modeling and rigging! Would writing scripts for topology and skinning be a good place to look?
If you have an idea how to simplify elements in both departments: 👍
Make sure you have your Python basics before going into a special field.
yes!
