    'Excellent video. No doubt it is useful for wheelchair users to see this but, more broadly, it gives able-bodied people an insight into the challenges some people face. Thanks for sharing.

      I think he makes it look easier than it is because he's practiced a lot. Most people on a wheelchair can't keep balance on two wheels like that. This is more like a trick for young stronger wheelchair users that dare to do such things. I can walk and because of CFS/ME I'll get a wheelchair (electric though) for outdoor use and I would be too scared and I'm too weak to do something like this if I ever used a regular wheelchair.

    • @mrp_27
      @mrp_27 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that instead of having to learn tricks, the cities should be made more accessible everywhere.

      -I take your point but don't you think it highlights just how different people are abled and disabled alike? People in chairs can have a wide range of disabilities and to vastly varying degrees. Jerry is just showing how he does it and how it can be done but (not wishing to speak for him), I am sure he would agree that chair users have to take their time to find out what works best for them given their specific circumstances.

      @@SunshineMix101 It's impressive that he finds ways around accessibility problems. I applaud him for that because he is taking a risk doing so. Still those problems shouldn't exist but sadly they do. Accessibility is important and cities should be designed with everyone in mind able bodied and handicapped.

    I’m not a wheelchair user but I’m currently learning modes of transport for physically disabled people to better understand their point of view. This video helps me understand that I don’t need to have a heart attack lol! Also your wheelchair looks awesome!

      Yes, but how to stay in a wheely without falling over. I know it's important to not be afraid to tip over...but how do you manage to learn the balance point to stay in the air and move in a wheely?

    • @Queenmania2007
      @Queenmania2007 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@morgancalvi6675 backwheel balance just takes time and practice. Ideally having someone to spot you and catch you if you tilt too far back. After a while you get used to it and it becomes second nature

    Ur very good at that man for the average wheelchair user to try this out would be next to impossible but still amazing job and all ur points are done correctly but u have to be very balanced any slight off balance u will fall and possibly break ur neck again I wish I had the guts I’m stuck in my house right now because the elevator is busted and there’s stairs and a railing but I just know if I try this I would most likely die it’s also 3 stories and being t5 no core strength if u are a lumbar injury maybe u can do this but for me no way kudos to u my man!

    • @MRreptile13
      @MRreptile13  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you don't try,you will never know. I wasn't born knowing these skills. Takes practice. Start on small stairs,with some help at first. It's really not that hard.

      @ritchieelgar7253 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MRreptile13 thanks yea the elevator got fixed but I appreciate the word of encouragement I can go down one or two steps and I can go down sidewalks but when it’s 3 stories of stairs I think that’s a little too risky especially on my own but still good stuff!

    My mother doesn't do stairs anymore by herself, but when we were kids she would just balance her way down stairs, as long as the steps has an appropriate width it works. No need to drag yourself on the ground.
