Plymouth Brethren Living Our Beliefs - Charity Giving (Exclusive Brethren)

Members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) live very full lives, but still have time to interact with people living around them, and love to contribute to society in the communities in which they live. This brief documentary has been put together in order to help dispel some of the myths surrounding the brethren, and as you view the following few examples you will see the way that the members of the 17,000 UK strong PBCC have unreservedly put their hearts into charitable giving. This is a wonderful example of how a group of people, guided by their Christian beliefs, are prepared to put their money where their mouth is in support of worthy charitable organizations.
A great example of this which has been shown in this video is the PBCC’s ongoing support of the British Heart Foundation having taken part in their annual bagathon. This is a drive to get as many unwanted clothes and re-sellable items as possible donated by both individuals and organizations within a month. On the ongoing occasions of taking part in this initiative, the brethren have smashed all records, including in 2013 when they donated nearly 13,000 bags to BHF! Mike Taylor, retail director of BHF, told a delegation from the PBCC that this equates to around £260K’s worth to them! These funds allow BHF to continue their life saving research, and the brethren will be pleased to continue in support of their fund raising activities in the future.
