Even after 4 years ago this was videoed it is still enjoyable to watch Mike take care of a tractor and not abuse it and get the job done. Thanks again Mike for sharing with us. OLD DAWG DREAMING Fred.
I have a 57 horsepower LS tractor with a front end loader. It has a heavy grapple bucket (Everything Attachments) mounted on the front. Unfortunately, it has tractor tires on the front axle instead of industrial tires so they get a little squishy when I lift things up. I can typically lift way more than what is safe so I have to be careful, especially on uneven terrain or when I turn. I always keep the load low to the ground. Those grapple buckets are a dream come true when it comes to clearing trees, brush and moving logs!
Thanks Mike for sharing your honest oppinion on these versital and capable RK tractors. I'm happy to see they have produced a grapple and thumb for the RK 24. I've had one set up like Sherman before grapple and thumb upgrade since March of this year and have used it for a number tasks. Have added a grader blade, post hole auger and sub-soiler. Little Red, as I call her, has never failed to perform above my expectations. Today I picked a thumb for the backhoe. Can't wait to install it and start moving some wood. It looks like the grapple is not going to be readily available in my area till Jan. They are supposed to have a retrofit kit to keep cost down and not have to replace the loader assembly.
A tractor is one of the beat purchases we made! We used ours to clear logs from our homesite and it handled the job without a problem:) We enjoyed your video!
Hi, I've only just come across your channel so working my way through the videos in order to watch your progress. I just had to say thank you for putting the numbers at the start of your titles! It makes it so much easier to keep track and follow them in order. All the best from the uk.
That's a pretty amazing little tractor. How you cut the wood up reminds me of how my dad and I used to haul wood out of the woods we would cut them and 5 foot sections put them on the trailer haul them home and every Saturday during the winter we would saw enough wood for the week and carry it into the house
Hydraulics are a wonderful thing.....great little machine......seems like you always have something to do in the bush when you have that many acres.....I like it....... :) thanx Mike.
Grapple + Sub Compact = amazing capabilities. Logs, boulders, and brush. I had a brush pile 8’ high, 40’ long, 20’ wide that had accumulated over a period of 30 yrs by previous owners of our property. It was child’s play to pull all of it out of the woods with a grapple. Hiring the job out would have cost more than the grapple.
That’s a pretty sweet little beast of a tractor, my grandfather said I could inherit his 2 tractors when I get property of my own around feb of next year. Your vids have been an awesome learning tool and I’m sure they will come in handy once I’m actually in the drivers seat of one of my grandpas tractors! Thnx again, looking forward to more vids as always
After watching this RK 24, "Sherman" I can't wait to hear what the RK 37's name is going to be! Amazing power in a small package. I am getting the RK 37 in the Spring and quite sure I'm going to be happy.
The sub compact tractors are alot stronger than people think and yes they are real tractors and can get into some real tight places .My Massey gc1720 amazes me all the time as to what it can handle .
The beauty of a sub compact is you can do some pretty heavy wok, and it doesn't tear up the ground too bad. Look at the tracks Mike has left after hauling all those logs, hardly a foot print. Nice!!
I sure wish Rural King would sell the Tractors here in Paducah KY but it looks like they may not. I sure would like to have one of those little 24s . Great video Mike.
The loader picking up the heavier logs isn't the problem. When you see the load being transported and a bump makes it start to sway side to side is the danger. To much pressure on the pivot points and frame mounts could fail the welds when the weight wracks the loader. I still love the tractor and am seriously thinking about getting a RK !!!
That's crazy how much that little tractor can pick up. Btw, your new stihl saw is a little ripper. Wow! I'd love to be out in the woods cutting wood and running a tractor.
Wow, that little tractor is impressive. I have the RK55 and love it. Now i would reaaly lime to have the 24 as well. It would be much more maneuverable in the tighter woods. Nice showcase👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mike I own a BX25; they are awesome tractors. But it does not lift as much as the R K with the front end loader. How ever I have been digging 4 & 5 foot sweet gum stumps out with the backhoe! I have over 500 hours on it.
Imagine buying a tool like a tractor and being worried about wearing it out using the said tool. Make sure you keep hammer from hitting any nails. You might not want to wear it out. Or maybe your boots. Don't wear them cause it wears them out. Stick to the house work ...
You have done a lot of work so far with those RK tractors, and I haven't seen where you've had any trouble with them. Just goes to show that they are quality built tractors.
I rented a small New Holland tractor with a small loader bucket, maybe a quarter yard ... less ... for cleaning up all the dirt from digging a swimming pool. When I would get that bucket full, sometimes I was just driving on the front wheels and sometimes only one of them. Very creepy when stopping or turning. I haven't seen Sherman lift the back wheels off the ground yet, but I'm sure it's coming. Keep the load close to the ground!
I have the smallest BX - The loader is only rated for 203 Kilograms or 446 lbs - the bigger BX models have higher lift ratings - It looks like the RK24 is a very capable tractor.
Mike I am interested in an RK 34 with a grapple, can’t go larger, because I’m in the foothills of the Smokies and we built our cabin in the middle of a virgin forest. It is dense. I think the 37 would be perfect. Do you suggest the larger grapple??
I've seen a set of pallet forks do just as good of a job with logs. The underside of that grapple seems pretty short to me. I think I'm going to go with another brand grapple.
I noticed when you jse the grapler while lifting thar the drivers side lifts faster then the right side. Might need to adjust it for faster or slower load speed. Love the channel.
That is exactly the size tractor I want. Bout how much would that setup with the grapple bucket and back home be. Been looking at a lot of different tractors and haven't seen one with the grapple. I think I'm sold.
Mike, according to my free Norwood Sawmill app. 1 red oak log 12ft long 15inch diameter should weigh 928 lbs. Use this app all the time for figuring board feet for the sawmill. Check it out 😁
A 12 in x 100 in stick of pulp wood weighs about 400 lbs. One should be light enough for that tractor to handle. Wish there was a Rural King around me.
Generally hydraulics will go and go and go until all the stuff that supports the power of the hydraulics starts to fail. I mean the way a guy finds out what the load limit is is when the rear end comes off the ground if nothing breaks. Those logs look mostly like boiler wood quality or stuff for personal use; too much punk in many to sell for premium unless ya shave it all off with the chainsaw.
Do RK do a forestry trailer with a crane? It seems to be a natural progression for bringing in more timber for your new firewood business - a wee 3tonne would go well with the RK24?
Love your videos, I also love to hunt Deer and big into waterfowl hunting..Why did you pick this tractor over the Massey Ferguson, Mahindra, or the Kubota ? only because i'm in the market for one I have 5 ac's and I dont know what to get. I want a frame mount backhoe not a 3 point mount hook up I hear the frame is stronger. and I want a grappler and a snow thrower. Thanks
Hi Mike! I really dig that little RK 24. I'll be in the market for a subcompact tractor next year. I wish RK's were sold in Minnesota. Does the backhoe come off pretty easily? Also did they give you the midmount mower to try? Thanks, Jeremy
I didn't know tractor and loaders are rated by what length their lifting. All this time I thought it was by weight. I guess my tractor won't be able to lift a 14 foot 2x4. Oh well!!
Even after 4 years ago this was videoed it is still enjoyable to watch Mike take care of a tractor and not abuse it and get the job done. Thanks again Mike for sharing with us. OLD DAWG DREAMING Fred.

There is something about the woods of Western PA that I still love - and I moved away in 1985 at age 20; we love your videos !

Thanks Darren, Welcome aboard
What fun! Watching your videos and a few other TH-cam channels I follow are better than ANYTHING on TV!
It's amazing to me what good hydraulics can do. But again, i really enjoy your music selections. Continue to be safe, Mike.
That's a pretty amazing little tractor. That's super what Sherman can left I think Sherman could pickup two of the smaller ones at the same time. Great videos thank you for sharing

Mike You Are Really Getting Er Done! with Sherman!!👍👊
Sherman will work out fine. Thanks for sharing Mike. Lots of info put out there today.
After watching this RK 24, "Sherman" I can't wait to hear what the RK 37's name is going to be! Amazing power in a small package. I am getting the RK 37 in the Spring and quite sure I'm going to be happy.

That little thing has some beef to it! I'm looking forward to getting some of your weather Mike! Mid to upper 80's still! ugghh. Nice vid.
Kapper
Little Thang is a real workhorse ! Amazing the way it handled that 12 footer. Handles rather well in tight spaces too. 👍
The beauty of a sub compact is you can do some pretty heavy wok, and it doesn't tear up the ground too bad. Look at the tracks Mike has left after hauling all those logs, hardly a foot print. Nice!!
That's great Mike. My J.D.3025 couldn't do that. Amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Is the lift capacity greater on the rk vs the j d 3025r
I sure wish Rural King would sell the Tractors here in Paducah KY but it looks like they may not. I sure would like to have one of those little 24s . Great video Mike.
You sure picked the right name for the tractor. I'm thoroughly impressed with its capabilities.
Thanks for sharing!
Dang that little tank is pretty amazing!
What a beast small enough to get through the woods lots of power!!
That saw runs really well now after a few tanks of gas. Can't say I'm surprised ITS A FRICKIN STIHL!. This is my favorite channel by far.
Très belle vidéo
Je suis impressionné par votre tracteur.

Fait d'excellent travail.
En êtes vous toujours satisfait ?

My wife and I both love the fall of the year it’s harvest time we love it as well.
Indiana Jones

Seems like a nice little tractor, pretty strong for its size.
The crapple, it's the boss. Gotta get one.
I really enjoy watching your videos. Keep them coming.
Should’ve had the 55 and the little red dump trailer there to haul them to the mill.
You know I don't usually watch Americans but you are good. Even the chainsaw work was nice.
It pays to have a good ballast. I wonder if Sherman would be as capable if Melissa was driving. 😜
That weight limit is just a strong suggestion as I always say. Thumbs up
That's crazy how much that little tractor can pick up. Btw, your new stihl saw is a little ripper. Wow! I'd love to be out in the woods cutting wood and running a tractor.
Nice my next tractor is going to have a grapple we used fire wood to heat the house now we have gas heat I miss wood heat keep up the great work
My closest Rural King Store is/would be located about two hours from me, in Plano, Illinois, as I live in Wisconsin.
Rural King better power that thing down a bit, there not going to sell the bigger tractors. That things a 'tank'.
Sherman's living up to the tank hype for sure. Awesome video ! Thanks for posting the great content.
Sherman rocks
GO SHERMAN! WOHOOO 😎✌
Sherman is a beast I plan on buying one of these tractors at the 1st of the year love your videos keep them coming
Wow, that little tractor is impressive. I have the RK55 and love it. Now i would reaaly lime to have the 24 as well. It would be much more maneuverable in the tighter woods. Nice showcase👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video, you can beat a grapple. Being from the South I don’t like the name Sherman. Lol
Steve Bradley, lol I have heard several southerners say that so far
I just wonder about the longevity doing this kind of work. Got to be working that front axle hard.
Mike, I think you could put a Sharpie on one of those tongs and write your name with it. You make it look easy!
Lucky you didn’t lose that bar nut hey? Love the videos Mike!
i too am amazed
Mike I own a BX25; they are awesome tractors. But it does not lift as much as the R K with the front end loader. How ever I have been digging 4 & 5 foot sweet gum stumps out with the backhoe! I have over 500 hours on it.
The tractor may pick it up but you'll wear out the front end overloading it
Imagine buying a tool like a tractor and being worried about wearing it out using the said tool. Make sure you keep hammer from hitting any nails. You might not want to wear it out. Or maybe your boots. Don't wear them cause it wears them out. Stick to the house work ...

U should a property and equipment tour!
I rented a small New Holland tractor with a small loader bucket, maybe a quarter yard ... less ... for cleaning up all the dirt from digging a swimming pool. Does the RK 24 bucket perform 2 functions at once - curl and lift?
Yes
@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans What about the RK 37 and 55? My guess is they can't do 2 functions at once.
Hey Mike. At 4:28 the second you grabbed. Is the white ring under the bark rot ..? If so how do you avoid it while splitting it.
Red oak 14" dia. 12' length 804 lbs that's awesome
Green wood weight... That dead wood cut a bit ago, so conservatively 700 maybe?
Mike the last 2 videos you posted, you looked like you were watching for Big Foot to pop out. very funny. Sherman is the correct name too.
I have the smallest BX - The loader is only rated for 203 Kilograms or 446 lbs - the bigger BX models have higher lift ratings - It looks like the RK24 is a very capable tractor.
Hi Mike, Daniel from Arms Family Homestead said he likes your videos so i thought i would check you out, Daniel was right so i subscribed.
Mike I am interested in an RK 34 with a grapple, can’t go larger, because I’m in the foothills of the Smokies and we built our cabin in the middle of a virgin forest. It is dense. I think the 37 would be perfect. Do you suggest the larger grapple??
Sherman.… good name. that's my name also.
I've seen a set of pallet forks do just as good of a job with logs. The underside of that grapple seems pretty short to me. I think I'm going to go with another brand grapple.
You have so many toys and I sell firewood for a living and you have a better set up than me
I noticed when you jse the grapler while lifting thar the drivers side lifts faster then the right side. Might need to adjust it for faster or slower load speed. Love the channel.
Good music
that grapple looks like it could be used for digging roots as well
Hope all the storms you are getting on Tuesday didn't cause any major problems for you.
Just got hit with one a little bit ago
Glad to hear its Sherman for the tractor. So now the loader has quick connect?
Yes, new loader with quick attach
That is exactly the size tractor I want. Bout how much would that setup with the grapple bucket and back home be. Been looking at a lot of different tractors and haven't seen one with the grapple. I think I'm sold.
Mike, according to my free Norwood Sawmill app. 1 red oak log 12ft long 15inch diameter should weigh 928 lbs. Use this app all the time for figuring board feet for the sawmill. Check it out 😁
That's green wood. These were completely dry and starting to decay.
A 12 in x 100 in stick of pulp wood weighs about 400 lbs. One should be light enough for that tractor to handle.
Wish there was a Rural King around me.
i truely think you should get a portable mill, some of these logs you could atleast get a couple of planks out of :)
try taking a couple of the logs out of the woods at the same time .want to see what it can lift
My grandpa has a old tractor with no bucket but I'm thinking I can use it to pull down all the trees that are hung up in the woods.
👍🏻
I really need a grapple for my tractor...
Is that the same grapple that was also used on the RK55 and RK37, or it that a smaller sized grapple?
How are the hour meters comparing on the three size tractors? Does one get more use?
i wish i could be outside buts it’s raining hard
One screw is loose on your chainsaw
Which grapple are you running Mike?
New shirt!
Could you show a video on how to remove the backhoe on the RK 24?
Looks like your woods is in need of a cleaning
HOPE YOU NAME THE NEXT ONE RUDY.
Hey mike is the grapel set up on the RK 24 not available for the public yet because this is the only place I can find anything about it
January it will be available
Do RK do a forestry trailer with a crane? It seems to be a natural progression for bringing in more timber for your new firewood business - a wee 3tonne would go well with the RK24?
Hey Mike have you decided on which tractor would you choose for a second tractor .
No idea
Don’t let my wife see these last two videos, she’ll be wanting me to get the RK24 instead of the RK37 :-)
Thanks
Might be able to lift smaller lengths on the bigger wood.
You ever thought about getting a chainsaw mill for all that lumber?
Thats all for firewood to heat his house, not lumber
Hi Mike! I really dig that little RK 24. I'll be in the market for a subcompact tractor next year. I wish RK's were sold in Minnesota. Does the backhoe come off pretty easily? Also did they give you the midmount mower to try? Thanks, Jeremy
2 pins and 3 hoses , the bottom sits in a cradle, use the hydros to lift it up and ease the tractor away
Grab a green log, you will find out you need more tractor.
That one is dead but no where near dry
Agreed. It has to be dry or else the bark would peeling off and it wouldn't be decaying.
I didn't know tractor and loaders are rated by what length their lifting. All this time I thought it was by weight. I guess my tractor won't be able to lift a 14 foot 2x4. Oh well!!
Mike, Do you heat your house with wood on a normal basis or just have those nice nightly indoor fires?
Are u worried about bending ur loader arms
