Baltimore Washington International Airport had the honor and privilege of hosting Heart Two last Saturday, I didn't see her personally but I heard over the radios before my flight to Houston that she was there. Three Southwest jets I wanna fly in are Maryland One, Heart One, and Heart Two, LUV the new livery, absolutely beautiful!
I Love you Southwest....Keep up the great job.....You saved my cities Airport (MDW) Chicago. You are my #1 choice in air travel.Nothing but the best in the future.
The winglets are also called "Canards" in military aviation. My Dad helped design the B-1B Lancer, and if you look on the front, just below the Pilot and Co-Pilots Windows, they have flight stabilization canards. Those two on the Lancer help it to have stability in flight , when afterburning at nearly 1900 mph...or roughly 1/2 a mi per second...😃. On the SW jets, those winglets help to also manage fuel consumption... If you can help stay aloft, without using more fuel, then you're ahead of the curve.
It's always good to get a freshening up. The livery colors look great. I've always been fond of Southwest. From it's inception and it's original livery I've flown Southwest when it flew its original triangle in Texas..... back on those weekend disco party flights from Dallas to Houston for only $19.00.
Were the boarding stairs because it was a special event or does the Burbank airport really have outside boarding? It's retro, but I am really surprised. lol.....
I think any livery looks good in any Boeing. SW is a very smart airline not just because have a fleet of all Boeing but the best narrow body ever produce: B737
It's kind of surreal to see planes you've actually worked on here on youtube. I'm probably familiar with some of the graffiti in those bins. As an aside, I love working for SWA, but I despise 737-800s.
Smart new livery on the SW737s. I like it. I still miss the "State Colors" they used to have on individual aircraft, though. Especially Maryland and New Mexico, which looked fantastic on the aircraft.
Treetop64 They're keeping the state liveries but changing the tail design. www.airlinereporter.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/southwestspecialliveries.jpg
I do too my Dear friend. Southwest is an awesome airline to fly on, from the looks like. I will be trying this particular airline, once I get a job lined up somewhere, and save me some money for an airline ticket, is when I will make use of this airline here my Dear friend. :)
Thank you for posting this. I noticed two new antennas on the roof. Are those standard on the -800's? I haven't seen them on -700's. Im not referring to their wifi.
Love the new livery! It's stunning and absolutely beautiful! Very modern, simple, and...well, Southwest. My only objections were that they didn't paint the flap farings and main landing gear caps blue 8S
Your viewing perspective really adds drama to the landing, and it also gives the takeoff a kick---it shows (by all the runway-side stuff passing by so quickly) how rapidly these birds accelerate!
Nice Job Ryan - I too prefer the old one. Keep your eye on the UK on 18 Sept. - Why? because Scotland is getting a vote (yes or no) to decide if they want to remain part of Great Britain - If they leave the union it means he Union Jack will be replaced with a new flag and British Airways will have to change it's livery too!!
I like the new livery better than the old - this is much more slick and sexy (and I don't even like Southwest). But is this a new airplane or just new livery?
Yveltal666 Well first off, winglets are used to help the flight attendants grow palm trees in the lavs, Once the sun hits the winglets it produces about 25 cucumbers that are cooled by the fuel in the wings which creates the strength for the palm trees grow. But to get into more detail winglets are actually made in the middle of Africa and help the plane taxi. I hope this gives a better explanation!
It's like when AA riled out there new livery everyone including me didn't really like it but now I do. I personally like this livery. I will get some taking used to but I like it!
+Peter Van Chau how dumb can people get, you ever heard of split scimitars? They are just addons to the plane, it's not the 737MAX that's not even released until 2017
Seems like they're all going for the same thing... A minimalistic design but one that's instantly recognizable. I thought the U.S. airways livery was pretty spot on and while I don't mind the new American scheme I'm lamenting that the IS Airways livery may not stick around.
Jamie Allison I like the new American livery. Not that the past one was bad but it's been used since the late 1960's if I recall and I think it's time for change.
I must admit, the new livery doesn't look as warm as the old one. Before, the Desert Brown livery of Southwest was absolutely horrid. However, when they managed to design the current blue one, I absolutely loved the mix of colours. They are indescribably perfectly chosen. The new livery does have the same colours, but they only appear on the tail, whereas, the old one had a really nice red/orange underside. The font on the side of the aircraft looks plain as if it were quickly created in a word document, and is not stylistically appealing and the big red stripe on the tail between orange and blue is very wide, but does not contain any writing. Finally, the writing on the engine, again, has the "typewriter" regularity to it that doesn't float my boat. To be honest, the new livery is a wash, so to speak, and should not be fully instituted. I wish they would just keep it as is. No need to change anything, Southwest, your fine where you are! Just keep the service up, not the appearance. We can do without that.
Best new livery of any US Carrier, Someone in here said it looks Like American Airlines?????? um not at all American is basic silver with some new reds and oranges but nothing as bold as Southwest's new livery
Some of United 737s have them too now.....very distinct strobe lighting too, almost looks like a 787 at night if it wasn't for the delayed red beacon on the 787. Great video. Thanks for posting.
A lot of 737's are now being fitted with the Scimitar Winglet. I know that Sun Country airlines also has some planes fitted with the new winglet as well. It helps with fuel economy. SouthWest is also adding them to their fleet of 737's
Those winglets are Split Scimitar Winglets. The 737 MAX 8 Which is now released, has different winglets. They are not the same, but very similar. (I hope i'm right)
Surely I thought Southwest would go back to its traditional mustard livery when their partnership with Sea World ended, but I guess not. The new livery looks like something a third grader would design.
I don't like the new livery in all primary colors. The old livery with the orange instead of yellow looked more like the southwest landscape, and the name on the tail rather than the new huge letters on the side in another color made it classier, rather than garish.
It's a nice livery. I was iffy at first, but it grew on me really fast, unlike the AA livery. The tail design is a simple three stripes (not an overdone flag), and that deep blue is just sooooo.... sexy :p :) (not a plane-philic; just sayin').
Aviation Awesomeness You have an opinion too, I see. I don't see why Southwest had to fix something that wasn't broken, and I wonder how much it cost them to invest in changing the color scheme on all their 737's?
des bons avions à mon avis dans le monde entier pas comme la saltée du Maroc et la Turquie et barrez les mots des deux payés seulement des konares et protoules
I still think southwest should just stick with the blue and orange livery. I hate the new one, and the old ones were so much better. I'd rather fly on a old 737-300 which is really putdated then ride in this stupid livery. (Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, these are just mine.)
+Chase Sky You gotta admit though the deep blue is nice. If they could revert the rest of the livery to the last one and keep this blue, that would be perfect.
What an awesome livery!
Really nice catch, I actually really like the new livery. Great video!

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I hope I will see her in my neighborhood soon
Sweet video man, glad you where able to come catch it!
Thanks again for the info! That was cool to see, although your video will blow mine away.
My moms an AA Flight Attendant so I have a special love for aviation
Wow! It looks like that runway was barely long enough! Great video!
Tremendous Paint Job..! Beautiful..! Bravo..! Bravo..!
Awesome catch and fantastic work! Love that livery!
YAY! SeaPort Airlines is featured in this video! I LOVE the new SW livery by the way.
Awesome vid, thank you for sharing with us!
It's not too bad, but the old one is definitely better. Great video!
Excellent video! Nice look too! You gotta LUV that reverse thrust!
Nice catch. Really like the darker blue.
5 stars on this video man! Awesome 737 and video work.......
I liked the old livery, it was less corporate looking. This looks like all of the other liveries.
Hey Ryan long time no hear. "HEART TWO" Great looking 737's. Thank you Ryan. Right into my AVIATION playlist. ROCK ON!!!!!!
Thanks, buddy! I have some things planned in a month or so, until then, I'm kickin' back a bit.
I like it you don't really see airlines with bright colors like this much any more.

This is the plane they used to film the new Southwest commercial. Nice lookin plane.
Beautiful AIRBUS Wow!
I really like this new livery
Nice Video Nice Aircraft !!!! Long Live Boeing 737!!!!
Very good! beautiful. The best livery of America. I want see New Sothwest Gold Livery too.
It's always good to get a freshening up. The livery colors look great. I've always been fond of Southwest. That's standard here at BUR, it's effectively a 1930's/1940's terminal. When the new terminal gets built in the 2020's, we'll see what they decide.
Good work on the video.
Well done.
I think any livery looks good in any Boeing. SW is a very smart airline not just because have a fleet of all Boeing but the best narrow body ever produce: B737
It's hard to disagree with any of that, especially after they delivered 737 #10,000 earlier this year, after 51+ years of rolling those beauties out.
Nice video of an attractive livery
It's kind of surreal to see planes you've actually worked on here on youtube. I'm probably familiar with some of the graffiti in those bins. As an aside, I love working for SWA, but I despise 737-800s.
I never thought that Southwest would ever change their livery, never in a million years.
Now most of their fleet is this livery and there talking about getting rid of the old ones too. I’m replying 6 years later lol.
I like it!
Nice video I like this new look on southwest this livery looks like Americans new livery :)
It's Does Look Like American Right? I Was Just Thinking About That!
Awesome!
Spectacular video
got to see HeartTwo at PDX back in november
Like the new look of these planes. Hope to get a chance to fly on one...to Las Vegas.
+Johnny mahsrow I flew on one to Baltimore
I love the new livery!

Fantastic video!!:D
I think this will really brighten up the southwest terminals
Am I the only one who really likes the new design?
+Riley Johnson I love it
i love the new bottom winglets
I do too my Dear friend. Southwest is an awesome airline to fly on, from the looks like. I will be trying this particular airline, once I get a job lined up somewhere, and save me some money for an airline ticket, is when I will make use of this airline here my Dear friend. :)
Looks better than the old livery
Thank you for posting this. I noticed two new antennas on the roof. Are those standard on the -800's? I haven't seen them on -700's. Im not referring to their wifi.
I do like the new livery.

I agree
Your viewing perspective really adds drama to the landing, and it also gives the takeoff a kick---it shows (by all the runway-side stuff passing by so quickly) how rapidly these birds accelerate!
Even though you cut out some parts of the video, it would be really cool if there was an "11 Minute Turn"
Why does it have the winglets? It looks beautiful but I don't understand where the winglets came from?
Yveltal666 Well first off, winglets are used to help the flight attendants grow palm trees in the lavs, Once the sun hits the winglets it produces about 25 cucumbers that are cooled by the fuel in the wings which creates the strength for the palm trees grow. Mets747 Wow that was amazing! Couldn't have said it better myself. How many Bananas is 25 cucumbers?
blue
"Southwest Airlines" "The future is here to greet the great service of prior generations."
Where did you spot in this location? Sorry, I'm a Burbank geek.
2:13 that's funny could have sworn I heard one of those Gas Station bells......LOL
thats about how much it costs to fill up a jet airliner of this size, dont want to know about how much it cost to fill up the new Airbus a-380...LOL
I have a friend Leo Avions and he showed this livery
me gustaría que traigan más vídeos del 737-900 gracias
I got it on its first flight to DTW
Southwest 737 new livery (heart two) take off, Dtw*
That 206 tho!
I like the new livery but I don't know how a lot of people hate it
Yeah, it's an adjustment process, once people get used to this one, it'll change again :)
RyanBomar it is a good livery
Apparently you have no taste.
JMMT7022801 How do I have no taste? It's my opinion
It's like when AA riled out there new livery everyone including me didn't really like it but now I do. I personally like this livery. I will get some taking used to but I like it!
Did the 737MAX release or is that a plane without a cabin but still operates?
+Peter Van Chau how dumb can people get, you ever heard of split scimitars? They are just addons to the plane, it's not the 737MAX that's not even released until 2017
Aviation Awesomeness oh sorry for not being an expert
Peter Van Chau I'm sorry for being so harsh too...
Seems like they're all going for the same thing... A minimalistic design but one that's instantly recognizable. I thought the U.S. airways livery was pretty spot on and while I don't mind the new American scheme I'm lamenting that the IS Airways livery may not stick around.

Uhhh...they are 93% finished repainting their jets as of November 2022...there are only 55 redbellies left...
You have any idea how to track her and Heart One?
This one is N8645A just search that tail number on Flightaware. Heart One is N8642E.

I now have this new livery on my Flight Simulator X two 737-700's have it and I have the the two 737-800's heart one and two
Are they on the AvSim library for PMDG 737ngx? I'll have to get it!
cool
Why does that southwest plane have a 737 max winglet at 1:07. It hasn't even been realesed.
Ryan Smith The newest 737-800s are being fitted with the spilt scimitar winglets (I hope I got that right). The 737 max will have these winglets too.
Some of United 737s have them too now.....very distinct strobe lighting too, almost looks like a 787 at night if it wasn't for the delayed red beacon on the 787. Great video. Thanks for posting.
I noticed that too. I found it weird, maybe they are adding it now to all the new 737s

ok nice

Ive got to catch this bird!!!
You've got years, no rush :)
RyanBomar what it that thing under the winglet
+Bridget Murphy the "split scimitar"
+mooutlaws32 ok thank you
I don't like the new livery in all primary colors. The old livery with the orange instead of yellow looked more like the southwest landscape, and the name on the tail rather than the new huge letters on the side in another color made it classier, rather than garish.
Do you mind me sharing your video on my FB wall?
Feel free! Thanks for watching!
RyanBomar Perfect. Thank you!

It's a nice livery. I was iffy at first, but it grew on me really fast, unlike the AA livery. The tail design is a simple three stripes (not an overdone flag), and that deep blue is just sooooo.... sexy :p :) (not a plane-philic; just sayin').

Why did they waste money on painting their planes? Aren't they due to get a whole new set of fleet of next generation of the 737's?
c'est pas la la peine de vivre l action même de penser
The new colors suck,, at least the old livery colors reflected the Grand Canyon, and that I thought was appealing.
+Mark Potvin I love the new colors, but hey you can have an opinion.
Aviation Awesomeness
You have an opinion too, I see. I don't see why Southwest had to fix something that wasn't broken, and I wonder how much it cost them to invest in changing the color scheme on all their 737's?
et tout les pays sachent cette réalité cacher
737 max Anybody?
I really don't like either the new livery or the old one, the blue makes it look old and dated.
des bons avions à mon avis dans le monde entier pas comme la saltée du Maroc et la Turquie et barrez les mots des deux payés seulement des konares et protoules
Wow that's ugly. I didn't think they could make it any worse. My bad.
Thats also a 737 MAX
Nah it's an NG. I know the winglets make it look like a MAX but it is an NG.
Looks like the Armenian flag lol
Its meh... looks out of place...like it belongs in Europe
+CHRISGT34 Actually I guess that would look pretty cool.
They've had the some of the ugliest planes in the air for years.
Not true
hideous livery
