I think there should be 3 mountain strips for 4 peeps playing.

Just got this game. Watching videos to get a feel for how it goes as a supplement to the rulebook. The fish in the game are referred to as "Stockfish", which Webster's dictionary defines as: "fish (such as cod, haddock, or hake) dried hard in the open air without salt". Interesting. I did not know that. So there ya go.

As always, I truly enjoyed watching this stream. Despite, the minimal interaction, you made it look fun, but I love Rosenberg games.

Only problem, the game is not available! Rats!

Why was nobody taking the big point island(s)? That's crazy.

Small correction: on the imitation boards the white action bubble is the column you can imitate - not the hand symbol

It's hard to stay 100% focused on the video for so long but it was very interesting !
I will try to catch the next live if it fits with my time zone.

And don't forget that you can use the time stamps to move around within the video to the parts you want to watch! Thanks again for watching!

Do u guys discard and refill the available 3 occupations every round. Since some of em aren't gonna get picked and job availability is constantly changing, I think that's a neat addition to the house rule.

You could even roll a dice to see which one stays and the other 2 go.

We don't do that, but I dig where your head's at. Good idea, Christopher!

thanks for this! I'm a new player and enjoyed the game and the discussion. I will say that I think by putting out the choice of cards it actually swings the game a bit too far into a "card combo" game than the designer initially intended! I don't mind the "pick one of two" at the start, but I do think the array of cards makes it a bit too easy to get things you want and to prepare.
How have you felt about The Norwegians expansion?

I thought you could only put blues and greens money and ore on the main board?

We goofed on that, eh? Good catch and sorry about that, Daniel. Great catch though!

Thank you so much for these videos. I love Agricola. I just do not see myself enjoying A Feast for Odin at all. It looks like there are so many different viable paths at any given time, that needing a certain action is not really a thing which pretty much eliminates any form of blocking. And then, there are so many different spots that even towards the end of the turn almost 75% of the board is still available.

Edward, did you ever see that you have two greens next to each other and still an empty spot in the bottom right of your board?
Regarding raiding/pillaging, I think the key thing is that it's easy to play that well. It seems like if everyone's playing poorly then this will do well because it's slightly more 'idiot proof' (pardon the phrase). But if people are playing more efficiently then I don't think it's particularly strong, or at least my experience has been that it hasn't been dominant. And I've never seen a long game where the winner had less than 100, for what that's worth.
Also, I always find it odd that you put Ora et Labora in the Agricola category. I've never played Le Havre so I can't talk about that, but in my mind Agricola is alone in terms of particularly tight Uwe games. It just seems to me that there are the most bottlenecks there. Though that said, I don't think that has a big influence on my taste. I think Agricola, Caverna, and Arle are all pretty close for me in the 'meh' category. Like you say (about some of them), fine games, but nothing special.
Odin is probably my favorite Uwe but Ora et Labora is a pretty close second. That said though, there are plenty of games I prefer to both. I think they're both hovering around my 50th favorite games. So, very respectable and I'm glad to own them, but they're no Brass or Madeira or whatever.

    What were you doing?
    - one player having like 20 unplaced tiles left
    - one player having like 20 weapon cards left
    - one player trying to screw up the game by waiting for the very last second to place any tiles.

In order to increase your income you have to have ALL the spaces below and to the left. I believe that this includes the bonus spaces as well.

I would think that if your game has so many arbitrary little rules that you have to write a rule for what happens when you almost inevitably break a rule during one of your first games... then maybe you have too many rules. 😑
