      There have been investigations into the disaster and everything you said is false.
      1) That was a neutral area filled with expat Juve supporters and many of whom came with their families.
      2) Ultras were in a different section you absolute prick.
      3) The claims about stones being thrown have never been properly substantiated and more importantly, people actually did die of beating and even stabbing.

    I'm not a football fan, but I am from Liverpool. I constantly hear my dad make similar excuses. Even if the ground wasn't up to stratch, police presence was low, the fence was dodgy etc, nobody would have died if a group of Liverpool fans didn't charge at the opposing side.
    I'm not of the school of thought to demonise the club or their supporters en masse - as someone who doesn't care abou football, I could just as easily tarnish all football supporters with the same brush - but, for Gods sake, just take some fucking responsibility.

    • @venusdimylo

      +Matthew Collins That's a strange logic. You could keep going back to the nth degree and say "well, if the parents of the fans that were calling other fans names had never met, the name callers would never have been born in the first place and this would never have happened". I understand if you're a Liverpool fan or from Liverpool, you may want to see things from your point of view but the rest of the world knows what happened and it doesn't resemble how this video tells it. It's not about finger pointing, but videos like this distort the truth.

    • @cockywatchman1976

      +Kevin Myles Its not a strange logic. Are the Liverpool fans meant to just stand there getting bottles and bricks launched at them. I don't know if you know this, Joe, but when Heysel was chosen to hold the final, Peter Robinson, Liverpool's CEO, sent telexes to UEFA demanding that they change the venue because it was clearly unfit. When UEFA officials visited the Heysel in the February of 85, it was a freezing cold day and they didn't even bother to leave the VIP Lounge to go outside and inspect the stadium. Also, Block Z, supposedly reserved for "neutral fans", do you not know that Belgium has a huge Italian community - including many Juventus supporters - and the tickets for that section ended up in the hands of touts and travel agents?
      Check your facts then come back to me.

      @@aspadiamanti5677 Not really. Juventus facts were throwing stuff, taunting and abusing Liverpool fans. The Liverpool fans retaliated by charging (not to be condoned, but as a direct result of the Juventus fans actions). • @aspadiamanti5677
      @aspadiamanti5677 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cockywatchman1976 yes, Liverpool fans retaliated by charging. Juventus fans, on the contrary, did NOT charge. They run. And they were killed. That's the fundamental difference. So, of course we are going to accuse the fans that actually charged and not the ones who run and got killed. This is simple logic. It was Liverpool fans that penetrated the section Z (I think it was Z)and attacked the other people like animals, so of course it is their club that was going to get the bad reputation and be accused by the rest of the world, which is exactly what happened. Were Liverpool fans the only factor that led to the loss of life? No. Was the behaviour of Liverpool fans the catalyst to the loss of life? Yes. Were Juventus fans the victims of this, and nothing more? Yes. Literally the whole world can understand this simple fact, EXCEPT Liverpool fans.

    as a fan of rugby and not football, it horrifies me to see these disasters happening, people trying to apportion blame on everyone else, football has always had a hooligan element, idiots hell bent on spoiling it for everyone else, but nobody deserves to be crushed to death at an event that is supposed to be enjoyable. football violence needs to be examined, better preparation for crowd control should have been in situ, its a terriblr tragedy that shouldnt have happened in this day and age.

      "as a fan of rugby and not football"
      I stopped reading here. It just shows how small-time fans of rugby are that the only way they feel they can get one-up on football is to come to disaster vids & make comments which have that undercurrent of typical rugby classism.
      At the end of the day, rugby is sport designed by mutants, for mutants......and at least football didn't express implicit support for facist & racist regimes in France & South Africa respectively, unlike rugby.

    There was lots of rioting elsewere in Europe but noboady said anything about this, yes Liverpool were banned but no other club should have been , this was down to that bitch Maggie Thatcher.

    the video in interesting and bring proofs to my theory about that tragedy (I was 15 years old that day) : everyone was let in the Stadium with our without a ticket. The sector with Liverpool fans was more than packed. The day was hot to be Brussels in May. The tragedy unfolded quickly. The small sector occupied by Italians and others nationalities (but Juve fans to my understanding) got scared of the big red wave moving towards them, a bit because of the hooligans but mostly because of lack of room where the Reds were. Liverpool and English fans in general did not hold a great reputation at that time in Europe. There were good reasons to be scared of them. So the tragedy unfolded, with the huge complicity of the the Belgian authorities and UEFA that decided before hand to give that match to such a stadium. But now it is time to forgive and move on. For everyone.

    • @ermesfrigerio6257
      @ermesfrigerio6257 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not sure you know what you talking about ms Leonard. Sector X Y and Z was full of you red guys, then a minority composed by families coming from Italy or from other Countries. Even an Irish man died, and three Belgian. The most of the Juve fans were in other sectors of the stadium, not in sector Z. Do a bit more of research and take a deep breath. The issue of the Italian cowards then would just demonstrate that you consider the Reds responsible for the massacre as they push them into death. On the contrary, what happened is very much different from what you think, you know almost nothing of what happened that day and you just bla-bla-bla. Also, 5.000 from Liverpool were let into the sectors Y and X without a ticket. The pressure of the crowds was enormous. as a ms I cannot ask your age but it seems to me you are not much aware what was football in Europe those days in the eighties. The fact that you mix Heysel with Hillsborough give me another proof that you do not really know what you talking about. Hillsborough is a total different tragedy. Dynamics are so different from Heysel.

This is embarrassing and shameful for liverpool and their fans which I'm sure most of them would never act in the manner that a section of them did on that fateful evening in may '85 but a small section of them did and i feel this version of the events in their view is shameful and sad to watch. Clueless. Juventus fans weren't angels and neither were ours. To put rival fans next to each other with little segregation was ridiculous, especially with what happened to Liverpool fans in Rome the year before.
      Even though English football fans are better behaved now if you didn't have the segregation, CCTV and policing there'd be major trouble. Football has always attracted idiots and always will.
