I've always wondered who this song is about specifically. Is it autobiographical? Like, about Dustin as a minister/missionary? Or is it about missionaries in general? Or Paul? There seem to be a lot of references to Paul on Major/Minor, pretty sure Blinded and Cataracts are about him too.
I think it makes sense as a mix of all of those things. Some of the references like the line about the "ragged shoes" definitely fits well with a man like Paul. On the other hand "Listen to me, though I speak of sober things / Listen through me, though a man of lips unclean" always struck me as something coming from Dustin personally.
I thought it was about Jesus. He laid aside his crown All our crimes he carried Was lifted from the ground And with our burdens buried When shadows all had clung And the light diminished He emptied out his lungs Crying "It is finished!
Quite possibly Thrice's worst song, which is impressive considering Call It In the Air and Under Par are actual things. God bless 'em. They can't all be winners.
I don't understand this comment... What do you mean by 'Call it in the Air' & 'Under Par' are "actual things"?... are you implying the record was a "coin toss" & being "under par"? OR those tracks are a reflection of their title/name? I don't get it...
still listen in 2024
