Damn it John, Undertaker wanted a 30 minute match with you
Blame Vince
@Legendary Deuce he said both Cena and Vince a short match not just Vince
@@Legendary_Deuce i do blame Vince, but if Cena hadn’t supported the decision, we would’ve had a glorious match
John wanted to sacrifice his popularity in order to Mark calaway to rise again
@@mahmoud6843 glorious? Bro taker was way outta his prime the match should’ve happened years prior to undertaker losing to the streak
The reality is that this match needed to be 8 years prior to this .
But that’s the age old story of the WWE. 5 years too late to the party.
😢
@@Lee-rt6txKinda like Sting & Undertaker which should of happen and never did…
@@hector4470 Exactly
True look how quick they were and explosive when they had a short match in raw I believe back in 07. Even with a 30 minute match now cena would’ve done nothing more than some punches, du, 5 knuckle and suplexes and taker would’ve just did what he can do. Should’ve been maybe wm24 after 23 for the wwe title
Undertaker: “Where’s John?”
Im pretty sure Cena was already in the room. Taker just couldn’t see him.
🎉
“Lemme guess he couldnt- ofcourse”
Lol
😂😂😂
You can’t see me 🤣🤣🤣
We would have loved a Taker-Cena 30 minute classic
This would have happened at WrestleMania 31 but John Cena was injured 😢
@@jomichaelhetzer cena wrestled at Mania 31, he won the U.S title at that event I believe
Did you mean 32? Bc that’s where he was injured
No Cena's ringwork is awful and boring.. same shlt always
@@bassammajid421he has banger matches tho
That shows you that Cena is willing to share the spotlight though. Even with Taker out - Cena respects his elders and the guys before him.
Yeeeeah... now he does when he in Hollywood but 10 15 years ago he never put anyone in fact he would bury peeps
@@nexmortuus4523that’s how you secure your spot, don’t blame him that’s just the nature of the business when you’re young and you’re at the top of the food chain. The only guy I can recall who was bulletproof and didn’t mind putting people over was The Rock. Everyone else politics their ass off to keep their spotS
Not really, just shows me that he’s agreeing with whatever vince says
@@nexmortuus4523 Who should he have put over
@@lancethefilmguy9392 only person John has burried is the nexus but he is about to put austin theory over so idk what that guy is talking about💀
It should've been at least a 15 minute match
Yeah maybe not a 30 minute or anything but definitely 10-15, give the crowd at least something to sink their teeth into because a squash does nothing or anyone especially when you know they never had a rubber match after that
Vengeance 2003
th-cam.com/users/shortsbeCPUk9U6is?feature=share
15 minutes would of been perfect. Taker didn’t need to wrestle long, and it was enough for a compelling back and forth.
15 sounds perfect for that type of match at that moment
"Nononononoooooo" - Panicked Undertaker
first time for everything, I suppose
You'd think Vince told him to wrestle a cucumber with how upset he was
At least by reports online you should get Randy Orton vs John Cena for his last match at WM 41
"We've never worked a PPV"
So Vengeance 2003 is just a fever dream when I was still young?! 😭😭😭
I know youre right but i like to assume he meant since cena became a megastar they never had match together which especially at mania would've printed so much money its crazy it never happened when they were both full time active wrestlers
And No Way Out 2007 even though it was actually a tag team match with Cena and Shawn Michael's Vs Taker and Batista
@@tremorchristlester4688 Yeah, I was gonna mention that match and their feud/match from 2003, good stuff.
Man Cena, why are you so nice? Even the Undertaker was like "Thanks, but is this fair to Cena?"
You gonna beat me tf up taker you got it ?!
-cena
There's another story that takes place right after the match. As Taker's going back up the ramp, he sees his daughter in the front row (A big Cena fan) looking a bit sad. He asks her after the match "what's wrong?". She replied "Dad, I'm happy you won but I just wish you didn't beat John up so badly". So Undertaker went to John and said "could you talk to my daughter? She's a fan of yours and is a little upset that I beat you the way I did". So John had a chat with Undertakers daughter and she was fine afterwards.
Bro vince probably paid him more than roman and brock to get squashed. he secured his spot he can’t loose anything even if it was a 10 second match.
@@liamfitzgerald7217”are you kidding me? I’m your dad, I’m supposed to win 😂😂😂”
When it comes against Undertaker it is fair to cena
Undertaker seriously has such an amazing personality that we don’t get to see while he’s in character. Seems like such a genuine guy
The fact that the Undertaker wanted a 30 min match with John and even has regrets that he never had a PPV match with John establishes the kind of greatness Cena has garnered over the years.
They did have a ppv match vengeance 2003 it was 16 minutes
Undertaker had a point. This was a fantasy match up of two of the biggest stars wwe has ever had. And it just gets 5 mins
Undertaker is one of the kindest people ever! As kid I was terrified.
You know how they say, don't meet your idols, well I feel, and of all people It is not Mark Callaway.. he basically went out of character during the TROOPS tributes back in the mid 2000s
Had it been a 30 minute classic, that would’ve been Takers last match
And that's why Vince booked 5 minutes 😂
Could've at least done 15
Cena always respects the ones that came before him and paved the way
We deserved a 30 min classic 😔
Taker got all his junk up on Cena
Bruhhh you right tho🤣
I mean he always does it like that.
Lmfaoooooooo 69
John Cena was definitely happy that night.
The comment I was looking for 😂 & Cena mouth was open 😮
The fans would have appreciated a 30 minute match between undertaker and cena
Vince:nah nigga you get 5
Lol I'm rolling
😅😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂
LMFAO
Booker t: TELL ME he did not just say that!
Lmao
That is why Cena is my GOAT, he's willing to sacrifice himself for the company.
Nah
He's an idiot.
Hell no
Hearing this makes me appreciate the match more and Cena more for wanting to give Undertaker his props and understanding the story they were telling.
Just shows how much John respects Mark I miss WWF an WCW in the 90s an early 2000s
That was a slap in the face to us wrestling fans who wanted to see a good match between two of the all time greats. Should've been more than 5 minutes.
At least 8 minutes good back & forth action followed by 2 minutes of sheer utter dominance
John and Vince knew Taker couldn't go 30 minutes
At the time I hated Cena so I was okay with it😂
You can watch there 2003 match
@@mickbreeden6516 he can
Cena really was a special worker!
I Definitely Agree
Cena always been even when people hated him
He was good for sure. And a good guy out of the ring as well.
The only problem Cena had was that he had to go on after Austin and Rock.
They worked on PPV. One was in 2003, I believe, as American Badass Undertaker.
Vengeance '03
Vengeance 2002
He probably forgot, or he means facing the Cena of today who accomplished almost everything.
Cena was rookie back then though
@@Hostile2430Well tbh the undertaker got cena over in the first place when he was wrestling him throughout 2003.
A full blown 30 minute match between John and Taker would’ve been the shit!!!!!
This match could have been the greatest match of all time. The potential this match had was all wasted for us fans.
In my opinion, this couldn’t have been anything more than a letdown. How do you turn down a match between two of the all time greats when Undertaker literally trained for a battle of the ages. Can anyone honestly believe that Vince or even John were oblivious to the fact that fans wanted this? This was supposed to be a dream becoming reality. John Cena VS The Undertaker will always be an unfinished story. Thanks a lot, Vinnie Mac!
No problem
Fans LOVED IT, though. Mostly bc everyone hated Cena, but even the wrestling YT channels were raving about how great it was, like it was akin to Austin/Hart WM13, at the time. It was baffling how few people disliked it when it happened.
Well first off, just going off of what we saw the year before, the fact Vince let Taker even anywhere CLOSE to a ring should be evaluated. Vince did Taker a favor by cutting the time. Undertaker was past his prime for at least 3 years by that point. He honestly should’ve retired after Mania 30, at the LATEST.
@@ItsNoelleNow”everyone hated cena” stop this gimmick man. Cena always had more supporters than haters
@@Okkkkkkskskssj We're not talking about children. We're talking about the bulk of loud adult wrestling fans. And they didn't like him until he disappeared for a while.
Ngl he looked great in it, and it being short was so effective at going "He's still an unstoppable monster" I loved it
John is the only one who could have done this to Taker at this point in time
Cena no podía ni podrá con taker
This shows how much Undertaker respects the audience, the stage and add value to the product. No wonder it was Undertaker who made Wrestlemania what it is today. Also John cena who agreed to this.
Cena was not actually a bad dude he lost a few times in the big moments and sometimes even squashed 😳 unheard of
Unreal that Cena and Vince both really were THAT against putting on what could have been recognized as one of the most memorable WM matches ever. EVERYONE wanted a war between the 2, not a segment ffs
They didn't want taker to go hospital after the match for nth time
@@champ-fw5po and yet Taker demolished Cena like he was nothing
@@raphaelwilkes97 Yeah, that was the whole point.
😂 I can imagine John Cena coming into the office.
Undertaker: What is the deal with this five minutes match, that's too short.
Cena: Bro I talked mad shit about you. You need to beat the hell outta me and make it quick.
Undertaker: 💀
lol
I remember “Doctor of Thuganomics” Cena feuded with Undertaker at Vengance 2003, I vividly remember Cena shooting a cemetary promo so THEY DID work a PPV prior to 2018
A 30 minute was all I needed that day 💔
Trained longer than the actual match I be mad too lol
I honestly think its because they didn't think he could pullout a good match & go that long since he had a few mad matches
Yea but that was mostly due to his opponents. Namely Goldberg and DX
His last match prior to Cena was Roman and that was the only bad match he had during that time
Well he had good matches with styles and drew
@@robertlasher9246 I think his Cena match was before Goldberg and DX
@@KSL708 Didn't help when he went into that match with Roman he had a bad hip that was gonna have surgery after Mania. By the Cena match he was well done with rehab.
Cena is truly selfless it’s astonishing to hear all the stories now.
It made sense for it to be short, but I would’ve loved a longer match
I mean the match should've at least been 10-15 minutes
One of those matches we will never get. And it is a damn shame.
The ‘are you kidding me!’ Got me rolling 😂
It was what was needed at the time. Taker showing he can beat that ass one last time.
Yeah but not against a guy like Cena.
@@alphamega1811 it's taker bro ...the goat of WWE ...
@SscCGL 2023 yeah and Cena is also one of the GOAT. That's what I'm saying
John took that 5 minutes nuts in the face lol
😂😂😂😂
Mark seems such a humble and likeable chap. Really enjoying to finally hear his stories now he has retired. He’s an icon in the business and bloody good guy to boot as well. So glad he’s happy telling his story.
2006 cena vs 2006/7/8 undertaker would have been an instant classic
John did it for the story though. It makes sense. It’s like going to fight a boss early on in the game 😂 soon as that bell rung it got real
i’ve always wanted to see a new matchup between these 2 and when i saw it at wrestlemania i was disappointed how short it was but hey at least i got what i wanted lol
Cena always respect legends and put over young telents. True selfless legend ❤
I was at that mania. First and only time I'll ever see taker's entrance in person. Worth the price of admission.
Damn it vince...
to be fair, I absolutely enjoyed it? It was fast and snappy, which got quite a chuckle out of me. I loved it, hands down.
Cena vs taker should have happen hella long ago not when both out their primes!!
I agree with you but still I enjoyed it nonetheless! :)
@@kazuhasglovesWhat made you enjoy that? Romans must lose in every match like that. Not the legends, like Cena.
I'm glad it was a squash match, made the moment much more memorable. The entire build-up down to the entrance was excellently done.
I understand why that match was so short if this was like 10 years earlier i can see taker doing a 30-45 min match with cena
When the undertaker wants a 30 minute match with you... You should have a 30 minute match with the undertaker o.O
Especially when he could kick your ass in real life
It's like training for a marathon and showing up to find out they changed it to a 5k LOL
I find it funny how The Undertaker said "We've never worked on a Pay-Per-View!" to John Cena.
They did...
They had a match at 'WWE Vengeance 2003'.
Are they EFFING serious? I thought they went 5 minutes to protect the older Undertaker but your telling me that he had a 45 minute match in him? I want my money back!
Omg hearing this I'm so sad that could of been a classic 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I can't process this my chest hurts
Cena vs Taker (streak still intact) at Wrestlemania would have been one of the all time great classics.
Undertaker trained so hard he deserved a longer match
If vince wanted it short he could've gave us at least 10 mins
John Cena is truly the people's champion
Same Here
True true Legend UNDERTAKER facts
Easily my favorite athlete of all time. This man inspires the sh;t out of me.
Very disappointed at the match
Right.
God damnit John Cena, you really fumbled this?
Taker such a 🐐. ❤ THE 🐐
I love his passion for his work, he always wanted to go big and sacrifice his body to entertain generations of people
No wonder it's considered wwe's darkest days when Vince is in control.
You understand that Vince was in control during the BEST days of WWE as well, right?

Vengeance 2003 was one my favorite matches with these two and at the time they had the company on fire.
Like when Cena was U.S Chamo on smackdown and had Taker pinned in 04
This just shows how professional John is and everything is for the business!!
He is the polar opposite to warrior and hogan
Right.
The WWE fan got robbed 😭😭😭
Yes undertaker and John Cena worked together on ppv. It was during John's early Dr. of thuganomics gimmick. In fact it was on undertaker's best matches DVD collection. I own it on DVD.
At least we Got to see Cena AND Taker Vengeance 2003
I think John knew the risk of a longer match with taker and just thought this way will shock fans enough to be memorable even if neither are at their best, especially if taker got injured
I think he was more worried about his own health as he was going to Hollywood
Also, nothing was on the line.
I feel Take on this… I really do. BUT, within the context of the story that John Cena was telling leading up to Mania, it was actually the perfect ending. One of a very few times where Vince totally nailed it 👍🏻
Taker and cena did work on PPV vengeance 2003
Taker: "Where's Cena?"
Me: He was right there, you just can't see him
Story wise, yes, a squash was the right call. Match wise, a 30 minute cut would’ve been incredible. This is why I generally prefer match quality over storytelling quality, because without the storytelling of the Cena/Taker fiasco, then it looked like Taker just completely obliterated Cena, making him look super weak even though Cena himself has an impressive record behind his back
Can’t believe we never got the classic that could’ve been. Taker’s been done and Cena’s on his way out now.
Taker and Cena worked together on PPV before. Vengeance 2003
Vince and John made the wrong call. Match should have been a real match. It's John freaking Cena. Squash him? Nah. Wack.
Nd the opponent is the goat ... Undertaker is bigger than wwe
@@champ-fw5po well Cena is way bigger
"Wheres John?"
Yeah Exactly.
I was there & taker's entrance was my favorite hands down
Damn it Vince and John, a 30 minute match would’ve been awesome
Vince McMahon was being a booker.
Good call
This is one of the few times taker had the wrong idea and Vince and John had the right idea.. when someone says stuff about you and your wife and questions your legendary career you need to put them out.. 30 minutes wasnt needed in this situation!!
Man all these interviews that Mark is doing now that he's retired the Undertaker are just pure gold. After all these years it is great getting to see behind the curtain of the Undertaker
“We have never worked on PPV”
2003: Am I a joke to you?
They did work on PPV before, only once, Vengeance 2003 and it was an excellent match despite John Cena only being on the roster for around 1 year.
Undertaker gets his own wrestling ring set up to see if he can still go😮
Wow the one thing he wanted to keep wrestling today was because his got a big heart in WWE to keep going but because of his physical well-being that if his in a match again he'd be more & more hurt & that's how tough he is like after his hall of fame he still making appearances
I wish Cena vs Taker would have been a historical match instead of being a joke with the audience. Man! It was technically the last WrestleMania of both legends. It had to be a legendary match.
I Luv taker and all his stories
That was Cenas way of giving Take his flowers
That's taker his passion for game is unmatched he will put his body because he likes it respect 🎉
Mark is so cool outta character
