      or maybe he ran away from his country to obtain citizenship in a safe country, so he can then save them from living in a war zone and probably being killed in the future?

What if he picks a side that ends up being ISIS because propaganda, the horrible leader that wants to stay in power or other countries that want to take over Syria. Is not that simple.

    Resident's permit? Why would he be given a resident's permit? I agree that he should be given asylum if he is fleeing a war zone but people seem to be confused about the difference between refuge and immigration. If he is a refugee he has no right to residence and no reason to be given residence. We owe asylum to people who are at risk of harm but we do not owe anything beyond that.

    Accept a million migrants, expect another 2-4 million due to EU family reunification rules. Once people have initially arrived it's very difficult to deport them & they become very expensive to society, in more ways than one.

      I just don't get why they keep reproducing kids when it's already hard to make a living for themselves. Especially when war is happening and they still reproduce knowing their life in danger. And bringing a person to the chaotic environment, seems selfish to me; they don't think about their children's future.

    Hey Mokdad....instead of bumming around feeling sorry for yourself, why not learn the language of the country thats supporting you..........Sweden!
    Then if your application for residency is successful, you can then begin to find work and start repaying some of the money the Swedish taxpayers have shelled out in keeping you!
    If you can't be bothered to learn the language then you will have no chance of employment in the future hence you will no doubt leech off the taxpayer for the rest of your life.....sadly which many of you refugees do.
    You cannot expect to live off the system having contributed nothing.
    If you do some volunteering, you will soon learn some basic Swedish and you can build on this.
    You also need to assimilate.....do you even mix with any Swedes or try to make Swedish friends?
    You need to be more pro-active if you expect to live in this beautiful country and not just sit back and expect the Govt to do everything for you!

    • @suzannenichols6900
      @suzannenichols6900 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Calvin Smith You do realize that none of that is ever going to happen, right? I mean about him learning the language, getting a job, all that... NEVER.

    • @madhusree1472
      @madhusree1472 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand what you're saying but it is really difficult to learn a new language if you have no access to classes and no one around you wants to teach it. He is probably surrounded by other refugees so he doesn't get the opportunity to learn Swedish. Moreover, Swedes aren't really friendly towards other cultures let alone being friendly to someone who is from a different culture and cannot speak the language. I do believe that assimilation is 💯% important when someone moves to a new country but it isn't as easy to assimilate as it seems.

    The ungratefulness is astounding. Also, he can't speak english or swedish after an entire year in the country and then has the nerve to blame it on the government for not provided free classes to him? Learning a language is 100% free online.
    Mokdad, how bout displaying some gratitude for the fact that you are in a wealthy and tolerant country and not simply expecting a residency permit as though it's your human right.
    Sweden is so idealistically naive, it's obvious there'll be a demographic replacement from migration and it's really a shame to see the former great country's demise.

    I'll never understand a man who could leave his wife/wives and his children in such a life threatening situation, no, never. Let's be frank, this is economic migration. I cannot easily empathize with this, or any other man, feeling so "melancholic" over a situation he willingly left his wife and children in, rather than staying to protect and provide for them, never mind bringing them with him to escape the "life threatening" situation they're fleeing from.

  • @ianashton886
    @ianashton886 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Two things I don’t understand. The first is why allow people into your country if you have no clue what you are going to do with them once they arrive. Especially when they have no skills and don’t speak the local language. The second thing, as others have pointed out is what real man leaves his family at danger in a war zone rather than do everything in his power to protect them. ALL governments that are allowing this lunacy at the expense of the indigenous tax payer are playing a very dangerous game but as usual it’s highly unlikely there will be any repercussions for the political elite later.

    In all that time since he left the ski resort and hasn't learned a word of Swedish or English ,1 year. At the very least, you can try to make a swedish friend, go to a local school and see if they can offer free language classes at night, or even get a book, do anything, instead of hanging out with your friends in the Town Square doing nothing. I can understand that it's frustrating and it takes time because of all the people that are seeking Asylum, people from Eretria are not a priority btw, but you have a lot of time on your hands, I would do and look everywhere for work, I would shovel sidewalks where the trucks can't get, or parking spaces on the street if I had to. This man at the very least could have learned at least conversational English or Swedish, it would help him out a lot.

    wow! Swedes are great. they should host more refugees
    even though Sweden is quite rich still they got the attitude to share it among poor refugees ( who are poor ONLY due to their situation)

    Agree completely re all the comments about how a man can run away and leave his family in a war zone. What also staggers me is how governments can allow people with no background checks into their countries in massive numbers and have no plan as to what they are going to do with them once they arrive. It’s total lunacy and I honestly don’t see how civil war can be avoided if this carries on.

    I've been to Sweden many times, the last time back in 2000. The Swedish people are friendly, kind, laid back .... oh, and fluent in English In fact, some of them speak better English (more grammatically correct English) than some Americans. I was surprised on my previous visits to see people from Greece working in many pizza and other fast food type places during those vacation visits. That said, the immigrants I met (mostly Greek) had learned to speak Swedish and many could also speak some English. Seems like the more recent refugees, however, are making little to no effort at all to learn about Swedish culture, let alone speak the language. So when they can't find work they could turn to crime (this has been the case with other non westerners who couldn't find work in other European countries). Personally, I would never move to another country without learning the language and arrogantly expect that country's government and citizens to welcome me into their work world and society. What do these newest immigrants have in common with westerners such as Swedes? Nothing! Nothing at all! I don't think they will ever truly fit in, not just for lack of effort, but because westerners are so very different from those whose origins are in non-western or 3rd world countries.

    They spend their days inside, talking to their families....the food is pretty good. I’d suggest they get off their butts, find something they can improve-even cleaning litter. Everyday do something to acknowledge the gift from Sweden. They should study language every chance. Trade language lessons from a citizen for some work exchange. But not, they sit and take and moan. And all the countries that continue to accept people, without a plan, scratch their heads and wonder what to do. If I was in charge they’d have a few weeks to get oriented to their new surroundings and then they assimilate with passion or leave. Period. It seems the right thing but since it doesn’t happen, I’m most likely overlooking something. I’ve never looked for a handout-just doesn’t build good esteem or anything else. What a mess.
    #walk away before we end up in the same mess!

    Killings, massacres, attacks....so he fled...but left wife and children....but he hasnt been able to bring his family to Sweden for almost a year ago...so I guess the conditions wherever he left his family are not so bad because thank God they are still alive after almost a year...therefore he could have stayed with his wife and children and not leave them alone because "there were killings, massacres, attacks".

    Some will say poor helpless man. Now can you imagine if the people living in England during WWII did what he did. Fled. Those people wouldn't have been called refugees. The name would have been coward, traitor. And during that war how many people did Iraq take in? How about Syria? The world expecially The USA do not respect a coward. We loathe you.

    I only have one question. If he doesn't know English or Swedish, then why couldn't he learn it? And why shouldn't he start to learn it?
    And if the war is ended, he should leave. But if he is Christian or atheist or LGBT in Middle East, that is different. Because they are always under threat and it doesn't change if war ends or government changes!
    And they are always welcome!
