I personally think the reason for the EPA coming down on the diesel community is from the guys coal dusting running down the highway or worst coal dusting people and posting it on TH-cam.

Vinny is absolutely correct about the def and particulate filters spewing poison my father who passed away in 2014 was a mechanic for 40 years and also a Chrysler mechanic for a local dealership and since he had to go to school and go through all the emissions crap since he also did state inspections. I recall him complaining about the crap they were installing on cars and then just coming to light the diesel trucks. He said the exact same thing Vinny did about the changes to the diesel market and complained that they are stupid and instead of fixing them to use less fuel by increasing the horsepower output instead they are installing crap on them to reduce mpg and spewing poison out the tail pipe. They have made the air pollution worse not better and people need to understand that. So kudos to him for saying that and to you for bringing it to light except there needs to be someway to inform way more people than currently know or understand that. People in this country are getting dumber and dumber and allowing the government to just tell them what they can and cannot do for anything these days. The EPA is way out of control and use the environment health to get new laws passed. I think in 2025 the state of Virginia is going to require all farms that have livestock to fence out any stream or creek from the livestock access. I hope is doesn't pass but knowing the idiots in control these days it probably will.
Federal Government exempt themselves from these very rules, now we should ask who's the government working for, USA 🇺🇸 or the US?
You know the answer to that question. The three letter agencies survive and thrive on spending our tax dollars while at the same time limiting our liberties.
The Feds no longer represent the people of the USA. The sooner you accept that the better off you will be. Self sufficiency is key.

When a federal government agency shows up call the county sheriff’s office and get the sheriff involved!!!! Sheriff’s are required by the state constitution to protect you from these criminals. These agencies do not have any authority in the constitution.

Ryan's diesel service is Wisconsin is an awesome shop, but is not doing anything performance minded with newer trucks, maybe a tune for older pre emission trucks, maybe a turbo to make better power in different RPM range than stock, but he claims there's not much power to be made by doing a delete, he said once you learn how the system works it's not a big deal, stay strong guys

Glad to see other people are surviving through all this stuff... Its something we all are having to adapt and overcome. I agree a lot with what Vinnie is saying. Having to be Emission compliant on everything is definitely separating the fly by night parts changers from the actual Repair shops that have the skill and the techs to actually go in and solve these issues. We love keeping this at the forefront because it’s affecting people and small businesses everyday.
Being in Heavy Equipment Industry we have been dealing with this since 1997. It was pretty soft until about 2005. In 2010, or so, Federal contracts starting requiring a certain percentage of the latest Teir of engines to even bid.
When you talked about how the new DPF produces poison now versus harmless emissions as before, and being a step backwards reminded me of the CFL light bulb, every one remembers several years back when the government push to reduce energy, I couldn't believe they produced a bulb that has traces of Mercury in them...very bad for the environment, I thought to my self, huge step backwards for the environment, you know those bulbs are in landfills everywhere, and that's how smart they are.
It is all about politicians making millions off this bullshit.

The very action of that EPA agent "explaining or interpreting" the law to you...is a violation of law since that's practicing law without a license. Every time a cop says you violated the law...that's not allowed under the Separation of Powers clause. Again an Executive Branch agent can't opine or make a legal determination on law that's Judicial branch. Basic Constitutional Law principles
Wait you just violated the law against explaining the law by explaining how that explaining the law is illegal? Officers are officials of the court by the way so not part of the executive while arresting you. Everyone in goverment gets paid by the treasury so no saying who pays them decides what branch they work for. Also explaining or interpreting a law is required to be done in a lot of cases by law and is very different from practicing law without a license, or impersonating an officer of a court.

Diesel trucks are integral to our infrastructure just like these other modes of transporting people and goods are however it’s corporations and millionaires that own those so the government goes straight for the common man to strip us of what little we have.
It really gets under my skin that we’re sold something that’s supposed to work hard but is designed to feed on its own fumes, use excess fuel, and break down sooner and in more ways. And we’re not allowed to fix this while celebrities take private jets on a whim.

Buy pre emissions or buy a gas truck. The writing is on the wall that are are getting rid of diesels by force if needed. Making diesel exhaust a carcinogen was part of their final plan to get rid of them.

It doesn’t matter who you are or what you think. The *REAL LAW* is this: you provide a service with new parts/products that are supposed to IMPROVE the customer’s current product. You already know this, this is what you practice in your business, so you already know the law! The government needs to SHOVE IT!
Well government uses aftermarket mods on their vehicles, so we could hold them to the same standard. They even use armor on their vehicles which reduces fuel mileage. It about our environment people. Lol

What is happening --- or one of the things happening , is that people that are ruling [ us ] have no knowledge , understanding or interest in what they have authorities over .
Just the opposite of what it should be ---- the ones that regulate should be experts on whatever they are authorities on .
All things considered in the market for a new diesel. Have had several rams with the Cummins and want to go a different route. While they have always been good to me I just do feel like they have kept up over the past couple years. Duramax trucks have lacked a good interior but that now is finally changing and I haven't personally been in a powerstroke since the end of the 7.3 beginning of the 6.0. Between powerstroke and Duramax what would you consider a better buy now all things as equal as possible.
The 10 speeds in the Ford and GM are very nice. We think all 3 are stellar trucks and wouldn’t be upset owning any one of them.
I probably would buy a Ford because of the front solid axle.

I'm question is. Will the trucks been modified before this ruling. Be ok . Because in 2018 i got a 6.7 dodge mega cab dually. Everything was removed. . I don't know anything about this new ruling by the epa.. because I took it to a dodge dealership to trade up for a new dodge dually. Inspected it as a trade in. They told me that they will not accept my truck as a trade in. So I'm stuck with a 30k truck low mileage. With no value.

@@mrmotofy all modifications were done by a dodge dealership. Two stickers on the radiator core support. One says all modifications. The other all ECM modifications done by Dodge. . Can't get it inspected or registered here in Texas.

@@mrmotofy dodge dealership put the truck on a no pass inspection list with Texas. Because I tried trading it in for a new dodge dually. Its worth 35,000 to 32000. Now . If it had everything thing on it. . I paid 42.000 In 2018 for it . Its got 215 thousand miles on it now. Only vehicle I have . Oh well take it to get shredded I guess.

It depends on the location - right? If the location requires emission equipment & testing, then the residents have to keep the required emissions equipment on their vehicles to pass the tests. You can get away with mods and tuning if there are no testing requirements for your area because there really isn't any enforcement by the government outside of testing. The gas engine guys can't get away with it either if there are testing requirements in their area. But yes, I think the diesel guys are being hit harder now. That rolling coal is more visible. 😆

The vehicles are not being operated on roads and the EPA needs a nice big Lawsuit and shown the DEF has no benefit to the air and its designed to slowly kill the diesel market, these regulations are Not Law, and the EPA is operating as a Law enforcement agency which it is clearly not. The diesel engines don't benefit from DEF, nor does the atmosphere.
Personally, I run a transport company by 2015 has been delete it for over six years now because I wanted to because it fell on the side of the highway the 30,000 miles cost me $1500 to get my truck and trailer on and Ford not covered under warranty which would’ve been another $5800 in parts I now have 250 K miles with no issues

When a new stock diesel truck produces 450 hp and 950 pounds of torque bone stock, what is enough? How does that compare to any emission control free diesel from 25 years ago? There are emissions intact diesels out there pushing 500k without issues. (Not Fords). Look at the Hot Shots and their trucks.
all Emissions intact vehicles have far more issues then diesels built years ago. the fact that these vehicles shut down if you run out of a HIGHLY TOXIC and POLUTING substance in an issue in and of itself. there's a bit of logic here that's being violated, if you want to make a vehicle produce less emissions you don't restrict what the engine can do you optimize what it can do. emissions systems are focused on destroying "emissions" rather then optimizing the efficiency in which these engines run. "cleaner" running engines, get less fuel efficiency have systems that combat issues with other systems (instead of going back to the drawing board), and choke themselves out with dirty air. these are all issues with these systems and why they should not be in production. and why these engines don't have very long lives.
They complain about emissions but yet we have some of the worst quality fuel in the world. Diesel sold in other countries is so much better than the trash we have here.

DEF is urea, it is NOT toxic or polluting, it is a fertilizer that farmers spread on the fields full of the food you eat!. Get some and spray it on your grass, and you'll see the grass will grow longer and faster, and be a deeper green. These newer engines are also much more efficient, thanks in part to the emissions systems (i.e. EGR used to control in cyl temps, and better designed overall to help them reduce emissions so the aftertreatment has less work to do) Yes, the DPF will plug up if the engine is operated incorrectly (biggest reason for aftertreatment issues) which can definately choke the engine down, but then, if it is operated correctly and allowed to regen, and serviced at correct intervals, then that will also not be an issue
@@billsmithingell7902 ah yes, a caustic substance is completely not toxic. After it causes sever chemical burns and reacts and carodes metal. Never mind the fact that just because something is used a fertilizer doesn't mean that it it isn't toxic to humans nor does it mean that it doesn't polute.
Oh and egr is not an efficiency boost, it is an efficiency loss. This is the reality when you pump waste Gas back into the engine. Diesels are more efficient at higher exhaust gas Temps, the Temps that these systems aim for only prevents the formation of alleged "pollutants." Most engines these days use more diesel for less power and torque. You might want to say that these engines are more efficient, that's clearly not true. The facts state these engines consume more fuel for less power. That is an objective reality. You can not argue that these are more efficient engines. They are less efficient and completely unreliable, which when it comes to actual eco policy reliability is key. Avoiding manufacturing more shit and keeping the shit you got is the single most effective way to protect the environment from harm.

Just because something is corrosive/caustic, doesn't mean that it's toxic. Urea isn't a problem, running more DEF means that you don't have to use as much EGR... Isn't that something that everyone complains about, "the engine eating its own shit"?
The designers have finally addressed something that I felt like was needed from the beginning, some of the trucks now pull EGR from downstream of the DPF. That means a LOT less soot back into the engine, which means cleaner intake and better efficiency.
The most basic thing you should at least understand about black smoke is that it isn't just soot, a significant portion is unburned fuel. If you want to talk about toxic, go read what the health impacts of benzene, toluene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons which are components of diesel. Those are what you get to breath and force others to breath from black smoke. These chemicals are classified as Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) and have been proven to cause cancer. DPF collects and burns the soot and helps ensure complete combustion of hydrocarbons. SCR converts the NOx into N2 and H2O. The hydrocarbons in some cases are volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which react with the NOx and sunlight to form ground level ozone. You know the "poor air quality days" that happen in big cities, ozone is the primary cause. You don't like emissions testing? Well, ozone is the most common reason that emissions testing is required....
Some of us might actually be professionals in this area. Doesn't mean that I like having to jump through hoops to increase the performance of my diesel truck, but I certainly have a better understanding of why it's needed.
Hated on the Duramax for most the time but he didn't tell no lies. Guys find someone who loves your platform to do the work. No one has touched my truck in 20k of upgrades. I buy install and even flashed two different tuners and.several different tunes in my truck as I upgraded. Never had to talk to sales guy, do your research. No mechanical experience or network except TH-cam.
I don't hate them, what I was referring to was many years ago when I was just getting my feet wet in the diesel industry. They aren't fun to work on as a newer mechanic that doesn't have some of the specialty tools required to work on them. Once you get a few under your belt, they are the same as anything else. It's all nuts and bolts at the end of the day!

The Government likes to play gotchya after you did something that you didn’t know was wrong. I had a lawn service 25 years ago. I got a job to seed a sandy lawn. I called the Minnesota EPA office and I asked questions. I told the lady about doing my first seeding job and I find out I’m supposed to be licensed for that because the seeds likely have chemicals or something added to them. But she said we will let you do this job. Also if I started manufacturing pull type mowers similar to a Swisher the permits are stricter if I ever started one up to demonstrate to a customer. 1 mower ran for 5 minutes to them is as if I left the entire inventory running 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, all year around.

Your right! I just looked it up. Doesn’t say anything about emissions on vehicles though.
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the Clean Power Plan went beyond the EPA's congressional authority. The Clean Power Plan established emission guidelines for states to follow in limiting carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from existing power plants. The Supreme Court did not rule on the Clean Air Act, which is what regulates vehicle emissions.

In my area, people want their diesel trucks to be loud and leave the people behind them in black smoke. I feel that's fueling the EPA going after shops that make it possible.
I feel people should be able to modify the trucks but not leave me in a cloud of soot or make the trucks so loud, I can hear them inside my home.
There is a balance that should be considered.

You just need to go to a better fuel.... 100% ethanol/ methanol
EPA is all about profit not truly going clean and green. The cleanest fuels is vapor fuels like propane, natural gas, hydrogen, gasification and more. With these vapor fuels it's what you cook your food on and no emissions or catalytic converters at all period. Their so clean it's not needed. I have a generator it's tri fuel I only run propane only. No smoke what so ever with propane you run it lean the opposite of gasoline. Propane is the real preppers fuel, no black on spark plug, no dirty oil or black on spark plug at all when I maintaince it. No dirt on spark arrestor. Propane in an emergency I ran my car on, cook on, heat with, heat water with, and run my generator on. It's like starting out with a 2 stroke on gasoline - not dependable, then to a 4 stroke on gasoline - good but has gasoline problems and then to the best a 4 stroke on propane - no problems. It's not because I'm going green to save the planet propane and other vapor fuels are basically the same. Very dependable, engines last longer, almost no maintaince, no gasoline or carb problems. I like things dependable and to last a very long time and I have a diesel with a limited fuel supply. With propane you can store it forever! The guys in Brown UPS already have tractor trailers on Natural Gas another clean and dependable fuel.

@@28haller Technically, anything that you've done to it that isn't 100% from the factor is a criminal offense and punishable by fine and jail time. Bigger tires, CAI, anything. That's the current law. But you're right, they could very well decide later that all pre-EGR, pre-DEF trucks need to be retrofitted with DPF/SCRs. I wouldn't assume you're safe just because you have a pre-EGR truck.

The fact that this seems to surprise people is very disturbing. The fact that you think this is due to environmental concerns is again disturbing. Do a search for "right to repair" you will see this has been going on for quite some time , with many things not just automobiles. It is about who wants to sell the parts. This is all about the money, whoever has the most to gain from investments (legal government based insider trading) and has the best lobbyists (best payoff's) wins. In this case follow the money, Ford, Chrysler, GMC, invested senators/house members etc.

They just come down like a ton of bricks on performance shops that will tune out restrictive, peice of shit garbage DPF DEF and EGR systems.
@@MegaDysart no one has called the EPA on these other shops. If you listen to what Vinnie says, he clearly states that the shops that were only doing deletes have since gone out of business cuz they can't reliably do anything else, and has gained them tons of business in that respect.

OUTSTANDING! Wondered how long it would take for something like that to happen. Loving and enhancing all of the belching shit into the air as a bonus feature of a vehicle is so short sighted and insane. Fun is fun but we have an atmosphere which means that we are encapsulated on the planet and breathing that shit. The more it and other things go on shifts the ratio of breathable air to the negative, so thanks for profiting personally from striving to take part in doing that to us all.

Vimmy lost all credibility when he started saying that regulations didn't make sense and the that the tailpipe emission post DPF was worse than without the DPF. And implying that the government was some sort of boogey man out to get people.
Pollution is illegal. The government has rules for nuclear reactors, oil fields, coal plants and yes, diesel trucks.
The diesel truck industry was stupid. They provided tunes that allowed idiot truck owners to make massive clouds of black smoke. And the idiots did that whenever they could because rolling coal was cool to them. What did the industry think was going to happen ?
There are 2 differences between muscle cars and diesel pickups. 1) Muscle cars are relatively rare and 2) they don't pollute nearly as much as a diesel pickup truck. About 600,000 diesel pickup trucks get made every year and they get driven a lot and under load. Tuned diesel pickup trucks are notorious for smoke. Muscle cars aren't clean but there aren't very many of them and they generally aren't daily drivers. And they are clean compared to a tuned diesel pickup truck.
I'm kinda glad that the industry got cleaned up. It was getting way out of line and I owned a diesel pickup truck. Way too many trucks smoking at every launch. There was no need for it.

I find this issue very interesting, don't have an answer for it. I do know that there are vehicles powered by batteries with some well over 500 horse power. Seems to me if you want lots of balls, go electric!!!!.........Go ahead all you electric haters, but what if someone builds a legal 500 plus horse power truck that is California legal.

Diesels are for towing... making them go fast is just extra fun. EVs can't tow. Period. Take a look at any of the real world testing: they have severely lacking range, take hours to recharge, and can't pull nearly enough weight as compared to even a minimally powered diesel vehicle. EVs may be the future, but in terms of replacing the diesel we are just not there yet. P.S. 500hp is nothing. That's a mild tow rig. A fun street truck is 1000+hp.
And how many miles will that electric vehicle tow? And then how long will it need to sit to get recharged? EVs have a place but the technology isn’t there for towing.
