    Thank God I decided to take a look at whats going on in this old subscription of mine! How foolish of me to assume that google (TH-cam) would automatically inform me of some fresh activity from a mentor who sits so close to my heart. Needless to say, they didn't.
    It makes you wonder- what's even the point of subscribing? ...if you don't get the "mail" anyway.
    Bad algorithms aside,
    David, please accept my gratitude for your service of providing these deeply useful videos. I hope to live to see the days when this will be a normal fraction of the stuff we teach at schools instead of the brainwash that is offered now.
    When I try to picture myself wildly successful, In a way I see myself as you.
    And its oh so comforting to realize that this is a man I share my time on this earth with.
    Hope you and your family are all well.
    Godspeed and Hare Krishna.

    GTD is a great methodology, you just need the right tools for it to work. I like the fact it forces you to define your important tasks as there is literally an infinite amount of things to be done.

      +Mishel Fayad 7 Habits is definitely one book that helps differentiate between the important few and trivial many. Also, the 80/20 rule

      +Mishel Fayad this is what I am struggling with. What tools to use?

    • @MishelFayad
      @MishelFayad 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on your workflow you can try wunderlist or evernote. They both work on 99% of devices and can implement GTD principles fully. I use both but check out other tools as well. Its a try and error process.

    I tried GTD for some months. It must be the most complete system to handle and done things. However, for me was not stress free at all. It may got me in control but increased my stress. If you have it all captured in front of you, chances are you will feel more overwhelmed. What worked well was David Allen's "Natural Planning Model", but in the book this is put aside a bit. In general, Allen focuses too much on "defining work" (GTD proccess etc) than in the actual "doing work". But despite these negatives, GTD is a revolutionary approach and a great book to read.

    • @2000Books
      @2000Books 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +StubbornFight Did you try to focus on one thing at a time by carving out a period of time for that thing. IMO, that is the distinction between stress and calm.

    • @StubbornFight
      @StubbornFight 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously, If I managed to focus at one thing at a time, I wouldn't have started this discussion. But things do not work that way.

    • @2000Books
      @2000Books 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah - things don't work that way by default ... but they do if you design systems for them

    Nice video as always. However, I think as willpower is a limited resource it is not the best thing to rely on e.g. for sticking to a habit in the long run and after the initial habit-building period. Something which can beat willpower in many circumstances is the ENVIRONMENT one performs in.

    it's remarkable how much of an issue email is in people's lives. we're talking about emails...

    • @knucleballfreedom
      @knucleballfreedom 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This week , I asked myself, what would be the perfect amount of times to check my email. So for two days, I kept track of how often I checked my email from the time I woke up and it was over 400 times. Now, I like to respond immeditly to emails because I dont like waiting days for a reply. But, would I be okay with replied emails on the hour. I said yes! So for the last day, I set my alarm every hour from 6A-10P and that is when I check my email, 26 times is much better. But how about carving out 1.5s hour a day in 30 minutes intervals. My question Brian, great video by the way, how has checking your email changed your life? Did you get an email helpers?

  • @AngelaForemanBobier

      Chris Saunders How's the project #InboxZero going? I am down to 5 emails in my work email and that's ALL! It took me hours of deleting and filing to folders and handling things I had been avoiding, plus I unsubscribed for many things that I was never reading.
