No matter how you see it, it is hard to argue that when it comes to Lok Sabha elections, no state gets as bad a deal as Nagaland. We are not trying to pit one state, community or tribe against another: what we simply wish to understand, and then explain, is why Nagaland, despite being such a huge state with so many diverse communities, gets just one Lok Sabha seat while all others get at least two.
Many may even argue that Mizoram and Sikkim also get one MP each but the electorate of Mizoram, and for that matter, Sikkim, is half that of Nagaland too. Even in Mizoram, which is often seen as a homogenous community even though it has non-Mizo communities like the Chakmas, the voting for Lok Sabha elections was subdued: the state witnessed the lowest voting among the northeast states. Why? Because locals felt little connection with the MP candidates.
In this episode of Decoded, we explain how having just one MP speak for an entire state means some communities never get the attention they deserve.

Soory for nagaland but in our bihar we have 40 mp but poverty, unemployment in peripheral district and lack of infrastructure is very disheartening we have corrupt leaders only filling their pockets we are unrepresnted because of this reason have to migrate and live undignified life elsewhere also in North East. All money get sucked in capital and it nearby district. Our political system need reform but the problem is that legislative and executive Power is with government

The share of constituencies in Nagaland should also be addressed if not more division will arise in the future. Some districts enjoy upto 10 constituencies while some with 2,3 to 4 constituencies even thought the population is slightly different or equal in some districts..
What do you suggest, having more seats will address all tribes? How many lok sabha seats minimum will solve the problem? Even if nagaland is given 17 lok sabha seats there will always be problem there.

When Arunachal with lesser population than Nagaland, and Goa which is smaller than Nagaland in both area and population, have two Lok Sabha seats each: why not Nagaland? Everything is being pinned on delimitation not being effected. But it’s high time, Nagaland govt must demand all out. As for the lone Rajya Sabha MP Phagnon Konyak….she isn’t free to voice her opinions bcs she must toe the party line - Modi is boss. BJP accused the INC of being monolithic and discouraging of divergent voices. But bjp itself is an elaborate manifestation of the one leader-one voice model. As for eastern MLAs….well, their interests lie in Dimapur Kohima area, many of them owning huge properties and businesses. current issues that requires solution for Nagas,
1.ENPO demand is justified and therefore should be given
2.Nagaland need to have 2 MP seats
3.Rio should be removed (as long as this Leader leads ,there will be more chaos)
4.once the ENPO issues are resolved, the pathway for the insurgency might change for better
5.Nagas of Nagaland doesnt demand for the greater Nagalim
6.Nagas of Nagaland doesnt want outside interference from Manipur.

5 seat should be the minimum seats given to any state of India and 60 shpuld be the Max. Despide the population. I know this seats is based in population BUT it's high time, India stops promoting Overpopulation and give 5 minimum seat to any state with less population. Then only, we will feel included. Unfortunately Naga people don't care about Indian politics, they just don't care, just give us money develop our land, improve their living standard that's all. Not only the general public don't care but politicians too , they will have their regional party and whoever win in centre they will march, alliance with them. For a long time Nagaland don't even have opposition party. Opposition don't exist in Nagaland politics, and everybody is always in ruling government.

We need some out of the box approach to cater to regionsl disparity. First past the post or proportional system, sny methos needs to have tweaked error correction - as no method/ aporoach is a perfect one.
- UP has stupid figure of 80 seats. It gives a backward state immense control to carry hate narrative or populism, shadowing other issues.
#Solution:*Transfer of seats* - UP which can afford reduction of seats, as no harm to representation will be there, should be reduced by 5-10 seats. These seats must be filled in by different tribe members of Nagaland. This will have great implication overall on democracy and co- operative federalism.

The people of ENPO were deprived in every field by both govt of india and state govt. since the govt of india declared statehood to nagaland.
Even 2 seats are too low. Case in point PM's silence on manipur crisis. There should be special provision for all non Assam northeastern states to have at least 7 lok sabha seats each. Then, our voice will matter and better representation of smaller tribes. Right now, we are taken for granted. The current system breeds corruption and elitism.
Nagas has one of the worst, hopeless human being as CM for almost 15 years now , the citizens don't even know Nagaland Chief minister exist or not , very unfortunate. People of Nagaland cannot turn him down as the entire 59 elected members just want money from Him and nothing else. Development, project didn't exist in the state, only the central scheme is given to Naga people alive. Very very sad.

Funny because the issue is not unique at all. In Manipur the outer MP has to represent 35(Kuki+Naga) tribes + Meitei + Meitei Pangal belonging to the outer Manipur Constituency. See the problem?
