This is my favorite solo game, as it offers incredible depth and diverse replay ability. I agree that the rule book is suboptimal, and this is why it is considered a heavier solo game because it takes quite a bit of time to learn the nuances and mechanics, but fortunately on BGG there are a ton of player resources and player aids made by the community to facilitate the process immensely. The beauty of this game is the “puzzle” nature of the player advancement and deck building, which when one is proficient, makes each game an utter joy to play again. It does take me on average at least a few hours in the solo mode to finish each game, but for me, some of the best time in gaming ever.
Have you ever played Dragons of Etchinstone? It's an 18 card game that you can play in your hand and has a lot of parallels
@@alex8480 I will take a look, thanks.
The Ultimate Edition puts the locations on one side. I have them all memorized which will happen after 3-5 plays. This game is a masterpiece mechanically. Easily in the top games I have played, no question.
I enjoy your discussions. I've got this game but it's never made it to the table due to complexity (perceived). Seems folks love it or are middling on it over all. One if these days
Thank you! You're right. It seems like it's peoples' favorite game or no one plays it. Lol I think with the new content it's getting, it'll bring it back into the limelight.
