I tried one commercial fishing for jacks...it didn't last 3 whole days. Sent it back to tackle direct , and they sent me a penn slammer 3 , after 12 months it's still going strong.
Best way to attack braid to any spool is apply electrical tape over the line to the spool, learned that over ten years ago never had line slip on the spool. The line that lays over it bites tight to it and the adhesive keeps it from moving
Awesome reels, I have 2 of the 120 size, they have been great on kingfish. I also have a couple of the early pt30s and 3 smoke s2 40s, been fishing them a few years now. Performance wise, they compete with anything out there, including my saltigas
your main con against the Carbo 60 is that its a heavy reel. can you reccomend a reel with similar features but a light weight ?? would appreciate your reccomendation.
I purchased a quantum Boca 50 to replace my FFP 50 that was plagued with problems and couldn’t be happier with its performance. Great reel at a slightly lesser price than the Cabo.
Youve done a great job with your reviews. I’m debating between a Cabo (60) & Smoke (50) to keep on the boat to toss a jig to a boatside Cobia. Which option do you feel is best?
I have a couple Cabo 60's loaded with 50lb braid I use for Cobia"s. Drag set at 15lb. Have caught them on lighter tackle,,,but lost some to Barracuda before I could get them on the boat. Light tackle is fun,,, but less productive if your counting on bringing the bacon home....:-)
Ok look man I do not have a problem with nice stuff, but as a novice fisherman is this relevant. Almost 200.00 dollars for a reel not to include the rod. To much for my blood.

So the bail is flexible and the drag is adjustable. What are 'real aggressive bearings and deep throat cut guides'? Does seem like a good value.

I still back ‘braid ready’ reels with mono. I don’t trust the rubber band they come with. They eventually dry rot and fail.
Would you prefer this over a BG or saltist
