Another tip I'd give: You can get two copies of the same item if you have both a magic forge and a secret in a level. The game generates the item but doesn't remove your ability to craft it at the forge, so you can craft it and then also pick the item up in the secret. It's a bit niche but can be useful if you get a really powerful item from a secret. Not sure if this also works with chest generated items.
You can do the same with shops... Open the shop, then go open chests but don't pick up items, then if an item you want is in the shop and I. The ground you can get 2 copies by buying it from the shop then picking it up
For better zoom without messing with resolution use the console command: (press tilde) v_forced_aspect_ratio 1.78 then save v_forced_aspect_ratio 1.78 so it remembers
Depending on your screen's aspect ratio, those are the numbers to use (literally just do the math and round to two decimals): 32:9 - 3.56 21:9 - 2.34 16:9 - 1.78 16:10 - 1.6 4:3 - 2.34 3:2 - 1.5 5:4 - 1.25
I know I'm late to the party but I just discovered and got this game, and wanted to say thank you for this tip because I tried all the resolutions and they did not work for me except for my native one, so this tip was amazing for the zooming out feature, so again, thank you so much for this one haha.
#7: If you open a chest that has a spellbook, I believe you can go back to the merchant, buy the spellbook, then pick it up and have 2 (4 since they're attuned). Not sure if that doubles the set count...
You can get two doing this method but I believe it only counts as 1 for the set. Attuning won't give extra set bonus but that is a great way to get a lot of damage.
The only way I found out about the resolution trick was because I was playing with a friend with a low res laptop and he was shooting stuff I couldn't even see. I switched to his resolution and the view was fixed. It's so strange that they haven't release a patch for this problem since I'm seeing streamers who are at NG+ 60 and still using the reduced view unknowingly.
Unfortunately for my monitor the smallest resolution the game allows me to have is 1440x810 (which doesn't change the view of the screen to show more), the work around I found was to go into the console using ` and enter "v_forced_aspect_ratio 2" which unfortunately has black bars on the top and bottom of the screen but gives the full view. Another thing for new players specifically I'd leave local damage numbers on, because there's a certain boss that has a phase where they take less damage, and as a new player you might dump all your mana into them while they're there standing still not knowing that it's heavily reduced. Or maybe you're hitting a statue instead of a boss which has reduced damage as well. Then as your numbers start to cover too much of the screen decide to turn them off.
You might be able to have the zoomed out option with using fullscreen or a windowed mode. That has worked for some. I like having the numbers at times but other times they get in the way, I've been turning them on and off a lot lately.
@@Bweeks173 Yeah I've tried fullscreen, windowed, borderless etc. nothing gives the extra resolution options and none of the ones I have available give the zoomed out view, it's fine though I'm alright with the black bars with the forced aspect ratio fix. With the damage numbers I fully agree, I turn them off most of the time but on a video dedicated to new players I think the numbers are too valuable with learning the game to turn off early on.
Change the aspect ratio to 1.78 instead of 2 to get rid of the black bars. Even with the aspect ratio setting, you don't see as much as if you can set the resolution to 1366 or 1360 x 768 but it's definitely much better than default. You can also set the resolution manually in the same config file.
Really loving your videos! I would love some merc videos, since you do not have statues and character bonuses it is kinda hard for normal character builds to progress far. You have some merc videos for the start but no late game setup video (or maybe I just can't find it)
For anyone else getting black bars trying to use the resolution trick with a FHD monitor, in my experience I had 2 options: Option 1, Stick to 1920x1080 and "v_forced_aspect_ratio 1.78". IME It's unfortuately a little smaller than 1360x768 but still a massive improvement and you have the bonus of still playing in 1080p and borderless windowed also works. According to the wiki, the console command can be saved with "save v_forced_aspect_ratio 1.78". Option 2, In the Windows 10 display settings, set your actual screen resolution to 1360x768 first, then set your HoH resolution to 1360x768, then set it to windowed (fullscreen off). IME the window was positioned perfectly to look as if it were fullscreen. Whereas having it in windowed first then setting your desktop screen resolution made it display with the borders on screen and bits of the game cut off etc. Downsides to this way are having both the game and your desktop resolution in 720p (really 768p but it's still called 720p for some reason), which as a reminder is pretty close to half the amount of pixels in 1080p. For those with multiple monitors, only the one displaying the game needs to be 1360x768. EDIT: Might be wrong with the method on the second one but it definitely worked by doing something along those lines. Got it to work this time by setting it to borderless, setting windows to 1360x768, then the game res (borderless still on). Will update if I figure out the surefire way :) Anyway, I am using a GTX 1050 Ti, also interested in what card you have Bweeks. Hope this helps someone, let me know if you're having the black bars issue but these fixes give different results.

Playing this on PS4 and I love it. I'm still very early on, but how do I get more drinks from the tavern. I know I find barrels for different drinks but how do I replenish the stock of drinks?
Ummmmm if ur using WASD and need to hit Q or E u don’t have to stop strafing with ur ring finger, just use ur middle finger or pinky whatever is easier.
I guess my main question is how do you outpace the negative armor/resist scaling that happens every time you increase the NG+? I guess specifically for the tower since the moon/pyramids are more difficult. The title bonus from Paladin/Warlock only goes up by +5 for each armor/resist for beating a NG+, but bumping the NG+ up by 1 gives you a near -25 to -30 for each, if you go up NG+ high enough, how is it you dont instantly die to a bad beat? Even on NG+5 2-3 hits kill me since im taking 2.5x damage from each source type.
Basically you just get as much as you can, you will still go negative and it looks really bad but you can still push content since everything else will be scaling like hp. My higher NG pushes had -400 or so of each

hmmm this sounds good to add to a second video like this but if you are curious it acts if you have 2 of the attuned item in your inventory. So sword of kings gives +40, you would have "2" giving you +80 but it still counts as one item for set bonuses. Some other effects like 10% chance to stun will give you two 10% chances to stun not 20%, most items follow that logic onwards.

Cuz I gotta say... I just really don't want to play Gladiator most of all... (Along with most other classes too, but mostly Gladi.)

I like the bonuses at first but I feel they should have a cap like they use to, before they capped at NG+20 (which might be too high) but at least after that you wouldn't need to play w/e class since you wouldn't get any more bonuses from that class. You could keep pushing the class past NG+20 but you wouldn't get any more bonuses.
I'd be relatively okay with an NG20 cap, I guess? Lol. The thought still makes me ughhhh, as someone just getting into NG6 on only one char, but that's way better than something like getting to 200+ on everything...
The class bonuses is one of my favorite parts of the game. Makes me feel like I'm in a single-player MMO running a one-man guild. The way my guild used to prepare for raids, do farm runs and progression runs, etc. I get a very similar vibe from playing HoH (even though it's single player) and I love that.
I heard that when you see “An unexpected gift is waiting for you” is when an imp spawns. In the video you said they always appear on the north walls. I just saw that message and am looking all over the level but can’t find it. What am I looking for and what am I doing wrong?
The imp is on a timer. If you don't find it within a minute (I think), it will despawn. Just run in various directions and hope you went the right way to find the imp before it leaves again.
If you want gold I recommend using the increase gold gain and increase ore gain drinks from the tavern. Try to find some way to get life steal and the 0 hp regen from the double gold drink won’t matter too much. For the fountain just try to take every negative that won’t affect you too much such as dry springs, no secrets, etc. as well as getting positives like gentle traps, and toppled towers (so it’s easier to not die during your runs), large maps is nice if you have the time and patience. The reason you take increase ore gain btw is because on ng0 if you have max upgraded ore trader having the 50 or 75 percent more ore will get you more gold than the downside of a little less gold.
Yes this is basically everything you can do in ng0. I would go for the drinks and focus more on the ore side to upgrade the town also ore isn't taxed like gold and can still be converted into gold later. Farming ore and gold before you beat the game is slow but it's all you can really do until beating the game. Act 3 has a decent amount of ore if you want to try skipping to it to farm.
I don't know why, but with my game when i try to lower the resolution, my game window just shrinks adding black borders. Any idea how i can get the same result? Using v_forced_aspect_ratio is a nice change, but that also leaves me with black borders.
Make sure you have fullscreen turned on, you can also try in windowed mode. It might take some testing, unfortunately every video card / monitor resolution is different so it's hard to say exactly what would fix it.

Been playing and only hit level 9 on a paladin so far and 7 on ranger. Does it get more engaging later? It seems like just kite and left click and repeat.
You get access to more skills and items, drinks, and some other things that will help make it less samey. You get a lot stronger and faster which I feel is more engaging, the early game feels pretty slow without movement speed and mana regen, etc.
Each time you complete the game with a character you get class bonuses, in NG0 you get bonuses for each boss you kill with a character, after NG0 you only get the bonuses each time you kill the final boss.

Lol I thought the same thing when it happened and wasn't going to reshoot it. It's still faster then moving your fingers from the movement keys.

You can either find more drinks out while adventuring or you can just pay gold when you want to use a certain drink and you don't have any charges.

Completing arena waves gives a lot of reources as well, you can spam rank 0 and will still give resources

Until you beat the dragon on a couple characters it seems kinda slow and clunky bit trust me it does get a lot better
How to get these Bonuses on Nr. 2?
