- For the first time, Alice and the Mad Hatter come on my boat at Storybook Land. And yes, that's me driving the boat. I could barely do my speil since Hatter was asking questions non stop. But I still love him.

I wish the Walt Disney World Characters would play around like this. How cool would it be if Peter Pan or Captain Hook hijacked the Jungle Cruise?
Awesome. But Peter-Pan and Hook are for FantasyLand not for AdventureLand.

They certainly do their best to entertain guests, even with the restrictions.

I worked in Attractions for a couple years, then as a sketch artist for a few more. Right now I work as a special events artist.
I wish characters still did this. Are they not allowed to go on rides anymore?
Not really, I think management only allows it for special occasions now.
That's really sad... :( First, they eliminate the "random" appearances on the streets of the parks... Then they eliminate random rides... You know, being told that to meet a character, you have to go wait in line at a specific spot at a certain time REALLY takes away from the illusion that the characters live in the parks... :(

I just remembered why I love the Mad Hatter.
actually a few of the hatters carry their own props. many of them carry a tea pot, and some carry random photos in their pockets.
i gave my camera to some wonderful young girls who knew me from my web site, and they filmed it for me.

Characters should definitely be able to do these things. Makes the experience way more memorable! Especially if they have a sense of humor :)

This Mad Hatter is really funny. I went to Disney yesterday and went to play musical charis with Alice and him. He even pulled out the "This" and "That" cards, I was even surprised when he pulled a out a card that said "I don't know"

right now only alice and hatter go on a ride maybe once or twice a week. doesn't happen that much anymore.

Those people in the boat didn't seem amused....maybe it was their first time and they wanted the normal spiel...whereas I have ridden SBLCB many times so I would have LOVED THIS, haha! The most "off-the-script" thing I've encountered on that ride is when the Captain acknowledged the "giant ducks"...which I liked. :-)

I applied at Disney's office building behind the park. It's called 'Team Disney Anaheim' where you apply like any other job.

I've played musical chairs with this Hatter! When he asked for my name when I lost, he said, "Sarah! You can't be Sarah! Are you a Laker Girl?!" Then I got two hugs from him. LOL

i agree completely with you i must admit, i think they should let them rides the rides again cos it adds a nice bit of comedy and stuff like that into them, build more of a friendship with kids :)
