Shankar Jaikishan were the Super Music directors of the Golden era of Hindi film music and there is no parallel to their work. There might be better music directors but SJ were unique. 'Mera Naam Joker ' failed miserably but the music of SJ was superb and won Filmfare, though Raj Kapoor never worked with them afterwards. Raj Kapoor tried Laxmikant Pyarela and others also but they couldn't reach the class of SJ. Respectful tributes to the Great SJ.

Lataji stopped singing for shanker because of song mujhe buddha mil gaya from sangam .she continued singing for jaikishan.after his death shanker left helpless without lata and lost many big banners e.g. j omprakash .raj kapoor .nasir hussain .subodh mukherjee tonamea few
@@hariarya4832 you are right Hariji. But the main reason for Lataji parting ways with Shankeji was he introduced Sharda and thought Sharda would be as good as Lataji. Both Shanker and Jaikishan used to work separately after 1965 but under the name Shankar Jaikishan. Sharda was a good singer but never even nearby the class of Lataji.

@@hariarya4832 We should not post such false comments. Sanyasi was released in 1975 and AatmaRam in 1979 long after demise of Jaikishan ji

No body can come close to these duo for rich orchestraisation. Their tunes are immortal, the combination of SJ , Shailendra Hasrath jaipuri created magic in Hindi film music. The death of jai made shankar orphan. Every glorious successes ultimately should end. We enjoy their music at the end we shed tears as a mark of respect to these great souls.

इन्सान की कीमत उसके जाने के बाद ही समझ मे आती है । यही बात शंकर जयकिशन के लिए भी कही जा सक्ति है । उनके जैसा कम्पोज़र अभी शायद कभी नहीं आयगा । इसी लिए मात्र चालिस साल की उम्र मे वे दुनिया से रुस्तक हो गये । शायद उपर वाले को भी उनकी उतनी ही जरूरत थी जितनी हम संगीत प्रमियो को ।

Correction:
For chori chori, Mukesh would have sung the songs, but was bound by contract for his upcoming film that forbade him for singing for any other film before its release.
He was only able to get out of that binding contract by 1958 when he sang for SJ in Yahudi.
Obviously you are a Rafi fan, only two songs of Mukesh mentioned, 😡😡😡

His father's name was DAHYABHAI (डाह्याभाई) that's why his full name should be taken as Jaikishan DAHYABHAI Panchal. And NOT दयाभाई

sankar Jaikishan were inovative trend setters whose set out trends proved to be an University for their junior music directors. They created countless tunes of which hardly 30 To 40 tunes were taken as songs in their films.
Sir, in Arzoo Shankar Jaikisha had charged five Lac ruppess for their music and that was their all time high fees they ever charged
This is my opinion, but if you have any confirmed news of their having charged 10.00 Lac rupees, please inform me the source where from you got it.

Jaikishan composed all songs for Arzoo movie later Ramanand dagar wanted to include a quawalli song in movie but jaikishan was not in country so he approached Shankar and he asked for equal amount of fees what jaikishan has charged for the movie(it is said it was ₹5 lakh) so Ramanand Sagar paid equal amount for that quawalli song (jab isq kabhi ho jata hai)..another version is Ramanand Sagar contacted jaikishan for making one more quawwali song for the Arzoo then jaikishan advised him to contact Shankar because no one can make a better quawwali song than Shankar ..it is true that Ramanand Sagar paid almost 10 lakhs fees for Arzoo music..but music of Arzoo was such a hit that Ramanad Sagar never regretted such a high fees(unprecidented)...10 lakh as fees for music directors in age when a medium budget films use to have total budget of 30-35 lakhs
