You mention Vox as a champion that can out-buff king groot but, whilst this is true, Vox will also take massive burst damage every time a buff is nullified making him a terrible champion for that node

Ran a unleveled 5* mr f, and then added in a 4* she hulk at the swap, my 6* titaina fried purgatory with the power stings since I can tank the special 3s
I took the purgatory fight with Kushala and used her Sp2 with soul barb the ticks was going off while she did her sp1 and the burst damage was 50k every time she was done so easy fight for me
You didn't mention him, but Spot does really well against Purgatory. he took a good amount of block damage, but if she throws a SP1 while he has 10 spots, she will take a ridiculous chunk of damage. He didn't solo her, but he made Torch's job really easy.
Mangog is by FAR the easiest boss, all you got to do is be far when the unstoppable timer goes off, and have a special ready when he reaches 10 charges

You could also use Gladiator for Purgatory, build to 20 charges, get your unstoppable and hit into her specials
