I miss snow😢 Here in N.C., as a child in the '60's and '70's, it snowed several times every winter. From 1971 to 1981 I never had to go to school on my birthday being in the beginning of the second week of January. One time in 1977, I went but we all were sent home before homeroom was over. The snow fell so fast it was a task to get us all home safely. We only get a "good" snow,(3" up to 12") about every 5 years. Hardly see a snow flake in the other years. Always enjoy my visit to the cabin. Thank you for sharing Martin and hope you and Vonnie have an awesomely blessed weekend.
Born in '71 and raised in the Charlotte area myself. Moved back here 4 years ago. Haven't seen snow since Jan '22 and that was just an inch. Was hoping we'd get one snowfall in the 3-6" range this year, but looks like another snowless winter. Still a slim chance we can get some as I remember when I was 10 we got 8 inches in late March that year.
Hello Martin, thanks for sharing. If you haven’t already, Look into an extendable roof rake to clear the snow off the solar panels and would also help to collect the snow off the roof you melt for your water. Stay safe my friend.
Another trip in the books It was a productive one for sure Won't be long til the guest cabin will be up and ready for use Another great time at the cabin
Another chapter closes. You got a LOT of prep done. Very impressive. I'll admit, I'm glad to see the precautions with preventing the ladder from sliding. And you ask a question that I've asked for many year - Who DOES clean off those millions of solar panels that are out there? Looking forward to the next visit. Until then, I'll enjoy watching the other ones, even though I know what they are all about! Thanks again, many times over for the best (and purest) "Reality Show" out there, my Brother!
It's always a pleasure to see what you're up to at the cabin. Glad you were able to accomplish your goal on this trip! With all the critters you have at the cabin, you will never be alone, Martin! Have a great week. Strawberry 🍓 Twinkie cobbler: all gone! 🐻🦫🦔🐦🐦⬛🦦🪿🐿️🐁🐇🐺😁👍
So beautiful! I know you enjoyed your time at the cabin. That was a good long stay, but I know you were happy to get home to Vonnie. Love the wildlife that you captured on film! Thanks for the warning about weasels! I’ll remember that!
What a beautiful winter wonderland you have up there. I always enjoy watching the winter videos. I dread it when the trips, fall and winter, end. God bless to you and Vonnie.
I'll make you a deal. I'll stay all winter looking out for your place ,if you can tote in all the food and supplies 'I'd bring to get me to spring. Bring a few of your wife's pies when I see you leave and a few more when you come back. That would be a blessing.
wow that is scary with the bear following Jim . the snow looks very pretty around the cabin and you certainly had a dumping unlike us in London ,Ontario , I love seeing your trail camera footage ive been thinking on getting one never know what you'll see. What a great video jim you sure do capture some epic critter's on those trail cams
well, I guess that time has come. but that's OK, I will be here when you get back again. it was a great time at the cabin as always. by the way, I was watching Vonnies channel, and I tried my hand at making one of her cherry pies, and my wife absolutely loved it . Dwayne
Cabin has kept some snow. Got back a few days ago from the 3td winter trip and still 7 inches there with the weather turning colder so it will be there til March.
Lay a tarp over the solar panels before it snows❄️ Then just pull it off with the ropes you attached as well. Just an idea 💡 i was thinking if u fell off that latter it could be awhile before help arrives.
THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS, MARTIN!!!! HERE I SI, WATCHING YOU CLIMB THAT LADDER, TO CLEAN OFF THAT ROOF, OF THE SOLAR PANNELS & GETTING NERVIOUS, FOR YOU SAFTY ( I KNOW YOU GOT IT ). WELL I'M 74 NOW & STILL CLIMB THE LADDER TO (YES) GET UP ONTO MY HOUSE ROOF TO CLEAN THE PORCH ROOF, HOUSE ROOF & THE BACK CARTORT ROOF OFF OF DEBRIS. THEN THERE'S THE POLE BARN ROOF & THE SHED ROOF. WELL THE LADDER I HAVE TO US TO REACH THE SHED & POLE BARN IS LONGER & HEAVER FOR JUST ME TO LIFT. LAST COUPLE YRS. I HIRED TREE COP. TO DO IT. LOVE TO SEE THE WILD LIFE ON THE TRAIL CAMS.!!! Do take care. Fl.
Attach a salt shaker on the long pole, then rotate it to release the salt for cleaning solar panels. U Know that table salt can melt ice and snow quit quickly and it does not hurt the panels.
The trouble is that would soak the timbers with salt and the porcupines would then chew it up and it would fall on me and the pain would be worse than falling off the ladder, LOL
It’s to bad your solar panels need to be so high up. I have 4 separate solar panel arrays in my back yard. They’re all on wheels so I move them around to capture morning and evening sun. I use a leaf blower to clear snow off sometimes. I have used warm water to get ice off. People say that’ll crack them but it hasn’t yet.
I used to pull them around in the yard and had to move them 400 yards north in the winter to an opening to get any sun. Now enough trees died that I was able to build the structure to get them up in the sun in winter.
I have been up there two more times this winter and have all the floor and roof boards cut with my Granberg Alaskan mill. Hope to get the first logs and floor joists in position in May so in the fall we can really go to town.
Those wolves don't have good camera bathroom manners haha. Hey at least there isn't 3 feet of snow on the ground this year. Hopefully it.means the mosquitoes won't be as bad this year. Last year they were horrible.
I think last year it may have had to do with the really late melt and a large mosky that thrives with that. Next week videos are from New year's visit. I just got back from a trip there. Still nice temps and 7 inches of snow which is the most around anywhere.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 wow nice. Yea I was up at my cabin working on finishing up some interior work it was over 40 degrees and about 4 inches of snow. Winter isn't over yet though. We could still get hammered up there in Feb and March.
Now Bud, tsk tsk that would make a salt lick and the porcupines would eat it up the first year. You should come up with Mr. T and you would come away with a whole new knowledge base to expound about.
OK NOT SURE WHAT HAS HAPPEND. WHAT I MEAN IS I SENT YOU THIS COMMENT, MARTIN & THUMS UP. THEN I WENT TO A CRAFTING VIDEO & THERE WAS THIS SAME COMMENT??? SO AS I WAS THERE, ON THE CRAFTING SIGHT' I SAID' OOPS, THERE, BUT * NOT ,OOPS TO YOU MARTIN.HOPE THAT MADE SINCE??
Martin , Vonnies twinkie strawberry shortcake looks delicious .
It was all gone when I returned from the cabin last week so I have to wait on that taste test.

The upper midwest had not gotten much snow all winter. I just left the cabin last week and the 7 inches of snow there is way more than anywhere else.
This video is such a joy to watch. Helps to relax before bed.
Good to hear how they are received.
Fun to watch the animals that come around. Glad you had a good stay. 😊 You got a lot done. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Two more trips coming to a screen near you.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1I will watch for them. Love your channel, Martin. Thanks so much 😊
Time to make the coffee and see what ladder etiquette comments we have here. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, that is a hop topic, do not get it started again.
Enjoy your last bit of time, safe travels on the way home.
Been back twice since this trip so plenty more to come.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 I will be watching-

Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you Martin for another relaxing video. Can't wait for the next one.! Safe travels home.
More to come! Two more trips in the can to show.
That's always good news!
Sure beats the slogging that you have had to do some other years. Hard to believe that was December in N Minn.
More surprising is that I have done it two more times and just got back last week with the same conditions.
A very enjoyable visit. Trail cams great! Thanks.
Glad you like them!
Hey Martin I’m watching the video and enjoying a few cabin rolls with a cup of coffee- Have a great day and be safe 👍
Enjoy, glad you learned how to make the good stuff.
Yes, that is special! Wonderful animal videos. Thank you, Martin. 👍😎🇨🇦🌲❄
Glad you enjoyed it
Hello Martin, thanks for sharing. If you haven’t already, Look into an extendable roof rake to clear the snow off the solar panels and would also help to collect the snow off the roof you melt for your water. Stay safe my friend.
I have a roof rake made with an old truck mud flap but when it iced up I need to climb up there.
Or how about rigging up the solar panels so that they could be lowered to ground level using that electric winch?
Excellent video. Love the winter videos. God Bless.
Two more trips to show coming up.
Another trip in the books
It was a productive one for sure Won't be long til the guest cabin will be up and ready for use Another great time at the cabin
Finished two more trips this winter and have all the floor and roof boards sawed and drying.
Love your channel!
Another great trip in the books.....
Two more in the can coming up. A mild winter so I had to go back.
Love it!!! Love the bobcat and I’ve never seen a weasel before !!
Weasels are fairly plentiful but not seen by many.

Like to share the good times.
Sure miss the snow. Not much of a winter this year. And the coyotes need to work on their manners! Thanks for the visit Martin.😂
Not much snow anywhere this year. 7 inches when I left the cabin this week.
Hello Martin, you truly amaze me on all you do. Love your videos, be safe and careful on your trip home to vonnie. Best always.
Thanks so much
Another great video. Thanks for sharing Martin. Have a safe trip home.
Thank you, I will, this was the 1st winter trip and I just got back from the 3td.

You will be happy to know that we have two more trips loaded to youtube and will take us through April.
That sounds great. I hope to be done in time to volunteer for the guest cabin. Hopefully , the new chemo will not screw with me too much.

When the guest cabin is done you can come in and live off the land, just do not shoot my grouse.
great vid as usual thanks!

With that bear and Jim it just goes to show how we can peacefully co-exist around the cabin.
that's for sure Martin.
Man I love that you are out there enjoying suck high quality time.
That was trip one for the winter, two more finished since then so many more to come.
Thank you so much. Good video.

Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Good to get home didn't lose any shoes.
No ,not enough snow to use that one again.
Mornin,Martin, that wernt no Teddy Bear !!!
that is a fact.
Baby beavers ❤
No, a family of muskrats.
Lol nice ending there Martin haha
Snow is gone by today...warm weather
Cabin has kept some snow. Got back a few days ago from the 3td winter trip and still 7 inches there with the weather turning colder so it will be there til March.
Martin, I’m surprised you don’t have a pulley to lower those panels? You never said if Jim out limped that bear! Beautiful wildlife and snow.
Jim made it out OK and had knee surgery to repair a badly torn meniscus.
Lay a tarp over the solar panels before it snows❄️ Then just pull it off with the ropes you attached as well. Just an idea 💡 i was thinking if u fell off that latter it could be awhile before help arrives.
I may try the tarp idea when I have the time. Boy, if it froze to the panel I would really have and issue.
👍🏼

Best to be safe, ladders can really get you in trouble fast.
Martin have you tried putting RainX on Solar Panels? Should help prevent Ice from sticking.
I will try that.
Attach a salt shaker on the long pole, then rotate it to release the salt for cleaning solar panels. U Know that table salt can melt ice and snow quit quickly and it does not hurt the panels.

Also what's Jim's Facebook? If it's allowed to be ahared.
try Jim Puckett in Illinois
Hey how about getting a floor squeegee,or floor push broom,to clean panels?
I have a mud flap on a pole but the ice needs to be scraped from the ladder.

Question forBig Martin;
would some salt work to remove ice on those solar panels?
Now Bud, tsk tsk that would make a salt lick and the porcupines would eat it up the first year. You should come up with Mr. T and you would come away with a whole new knowledge base to expound about.
Have you thought of bulding a catwalk and stairs to clean solar panels.
No but I did put in some deck screws so he ladders will not slide to the side.
HOW MANY ACRES DO YOU OWN ? HOW MANY ACRES DO YOU WALK IN ON THE EASEMENT ?
We have title to 40 acres and hike about 1 mile from the east when snow is not a problem or else its 3 mile hike from the west.
I am cleaning my off in northern maine Martin
I do want to know how the big ones get cleaned.
You better hurry home or you’ll miss Vonnies World Famous;
Twinkie Strawberry Shortcake!!
I’ll say!
It was gone when I got here!!
