      Jeah that's what we need a definite answer to if B.Wilis's character was actually a superhuman or not. The action won't be on par Nolan's thrilogy, Logan norr any of the DC movies, so... What's the point of this? Undermining the original? Like Covenant, Prometheus, The thing (sequall) etc.??

    • @vitaminkplus
      @vitaminkplus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      mcnalga nah, they came out the same year but what made Unbreakable special was that you didn’t know it was a super hero origin story. For the most part it was a thriller, and people were expecting it to be another thriller like The Sixth Sense with a twist at the end, and true enough there was a twist but not in the way that was expected-the twist was that they had super powers, the mystery that was unfolding was getting to that point of realizing you were watching someone discover his super abilities. That was unexpected. That was what made it distinct. It had never been done before.
      Compare that to X-Men, where everyone knew it was a “comic-book” movie based on Marvel characters that were mutants. That was a good superhero origin movie, but it was obvious to fans and audiences that you were watching super heroes (otherwise known as mutants in the comics).
      M Night Shaymalan’s earlier films were completely fresh and unexpected. His first three films-The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs-were original and all took you in a direction you didn’t expect. One was a ghost story told from the perspective of the ghost without you realizing it, next was a mystery thriller that unfolds until you realize, along with the protagonist, that he has super abilities, and the third film was an alien invasion film that was actually a powerful family story about loss of faith and redemption. What made M Night Shaymalan so widely respected and reputable in his early films was that he took typical genre films but gave them a twist which made them so effective because it was unexpected. His later work became increasingly focused on trying to create twists and that seemed to put strain on his creative process making the later films eye-rolling because the twist seemed to be for the sake of the twist, and losing some credibility with regards to the story. But his first three films were phenomenal. At that time, they were truly original and his reputation was built very quickly with those initial films. Time magazine even has him on the cover of one of their issues back in the day. No joke.

    Anyone remember the slow build up song back in the movie unbreakable? The tune was like somethings building up and up...but the tune really gained momentum at the very end of the movie when bruce willis came out of the swimming pool. And we all were stunned that this ..actually...is...a ..superhero!!!. Wow that feeling, still remember it. By then, the movie was all but over. Ever since that moment I thought....now heres the rise of a new super hero! A superhero from within us humans.A nightmare for the real bastards (the rapists, the serial killers, the murderers, the abusers as against villains we never saw or care about!). This one, this guy is the one we need in this world! Ripppp those rapists and serial killers! The god of dexters.
    But then it was over and I kept thinking if ever ever there would be a movie for that superhero ever again (since the original spent solid time building up the background and how this man is something ...special). In the process, we all grew up, nothing came out. Meanwhile M Night kept disappointing thereafter. Bruce Willis faded gracefully. Sams..well sam left glass and became an avenger and even that went up in dust as of now. Things changed. Will M Knight finally turn up this time! I had serious hopes for his movies, thought he is going to be a legend. Hope this movie will be good, re ignite that flame Syamalan! Good luck. .............Listen to this , the tune i was talking about . ITS EXACTLY like i told you guys. Like Somethings building! somethings brewing. Something BIG! ......the pain of dirt, pain of evil humans doing unspeakable things,..and then slowly a counter reaction, a freak from nature ., like something within us humans adapting to be a bigger terror to those terrible human beings, like it was rising due to these devil elements. The tune goes exactly like that, makes u feel exactly like that,..from pain, from dirt to something slowly rising against that. Waited a century for this! Hear and ull know th-cam.com/video/2O0dFH3ysSY/w-d-xo.html

    It's great to see M Night Shyamalan back on top form, I remember when he had three hit movies and couldn't put a foot wrong, first there was Sixth Sense in 1999, Unbreakable in 2000 and Signs in 2002, all brilliant movies and in 2002/2003, I couldn't wait to see what M Night Shyamalan had next but unfortunately it was The Village in 2004 and this heralded ten years of him searching for another hit movie but things started to change with The Visit in 2015 but it was Split which really turned things around for him in 2016 and this movie was critically acclaimed and Glass looks like it will deliver as well so it's great to see M Night back to doing what he does best...writing great scripts, producing and directing excellent movies and it's a shame that he couldn't have done this back in 2003/2004.

    Glass trailer was insane best tailer ever !
    That shot with the beast charging in the field and the last shot when it seemed like he was pushing Dr glass out of the window if you focus David Dunn is also there he just took them and himself on a nice flight out the window , James Mcv is a genius actor and M.Night is Magical to say the least ! Look at all his actor choices in movies Bryce DH , James Mcv , Paul Giamati , Sam L Jackson , Bruce , etc all his choices in actors are on point , yes he had some flopps like the Witch Hunter , and the Last Air Bender and The Happening but I personally couldn't care less everyone has ups and lows in their careers and for me his ups are WAY MORE IMPORTANT than his downs we're , The Six Senth , Unbreakable , both The Village and the Visit were good could have been less clumsier , But I must say my Top favorite M.Night movie has got to be "Lady in the Water.. a Bed Time Story " this is a piece of art if you haven't watched it yet somehow you MUST ! it's a real dose of magic some people didn't get the magic and depth it stars Bryce DH , Paul Giamati , Sara Paulsen and M.Night had a small role for himself as well small profound role nevertheless He nailed this movie even tho also considered low budget , he proves budget means nothing when you have magic , I mean think about this movie Glass this trailer promotes 3 movies at once two of which were made like 14 years apart + 4 since Split that's 18 years since Unbreakable was aired in 2000 if that doesn't make him a film making and film promoting genuis I don't know what does .

    • @Uouttooo
      @Uouttooo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I still remember for the longest time that people were freaking horrible to him on the internet. They just exaggerated about how all his movies were bad, nitpicked everything to death, laughing at the Last Airbender etc etc. So why people suddenly are doing this 180? I call BS on this.

    • @stonecoldku4161
      @stonecoldku4161 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think part of the problem for him was after the success of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable the hype train for him went into over drive. Getting called the next Spielberg and everything. But then he followed those up with Signs (which was okay), Lady in the Water (forgettable), The Village (meh), Devil (forgettable), The Happening (laughable bad) etc. etc. Hell I never even watched the cartoon Avatar which the movie Last Airbender was based on and I knew that movie was bad. But people are willing to forgive pretty quickly once you start making good content again which The Visit and Split were. Both received well by critics and audiences. He is talented, but he made some really bad movies in row and the dislike of those movies was earned.
