Hah are you kidding me? Better close every Hospice because they kill you the same method and same manner. Up the dose for pain til no more pain.

I am an MD (psychiatrist) who cared for ICU patients during my training. Based on my (admittedly limited) experience with this patient population and what I read about Husel's biography, including his criminal past, I have a hunch this guy is not a typical serial killer who kills for pleasure or thrill. It is important to note that he only killed patients who were already dying and for whom life-saving measures were stopped. I would not be surprised if it turns out that he has your garden variety "narcissistic personality disorder" and that he prescribed fatal doses of fentanyl to these patients because he simply did not want to be bothered by them. He probably saw these cases as nuisance and convinced himself and others that there was nothing wrong with accelerating their demise because these patients were consuming resources, including his precious time and attention, that should be reserved for patients who actually had a chance at recovery. It is possible that at least some of the nurses and pharmacists who carried out his orders knew exactly why the dosages were so high/lethal, and yet they went ahead and administered the drugs because they agreed with him.

Well it was stated in another news report that this Dr. injected patients with as much as 40 times more than the maximum dose allowed -he knowingly knew that he was administering lethal doses of fentanyl to these patients. In other words he killed them on purpose.

NO ONE has the right to play God!!! He robbed those folks of their choice to live or die. He was the judge and the executioner. With no disrespect to Germany, it is noted that his name is GERMAN. There were Germans who felt like the Jews didn't need to live and executed them. They started with the sick ones, the disabled ones and the murders escalated to the healthy ones. I wouldn't doubt if he was an undercover skinhead! Which by the way are big in Ohio.

@LadyKatie I'm not quite sure what your point was there .. I was wondering if the patients were asking if he could end their lives, since it was said they were all at their ends.

Well if he was doing this on purpose to kill them he had to know that wouldn’t go over when people are dropping around like flies. That doesn’t add up.

According to a report l read- the fentanyl injections that he gave these patients were spread out over a period of time-in other words he didn't inject them all at the same time and several months may have gone by before he injected and killed his next victim

@@Mybrotherskeeper You’d have to actually have zero knowledge of how healthcare works to even make such an ignorant statement such as the one YOU made here. Dr. Husel didn’t “inject” a single person. That’s not how it works. The nurses would have carried the orders out. That’s how REAL healthcare works just a little fyi. Good job on trying to throw a dagger on a case you know absolutely nothing about. Kudos!

I'm quite shocked at the comments saying that he only killed elderly patients who were using resources and were going to die anyway! I'm sure if it was your mum or dad and because of his actions you'd been denied being able to spend even one more day with them you'd be devastated and surely be seeing this very differently?!!😩

I want to know the conversations both sides. I detect a request for more and more pain medication mentality in the family...a common trait of many Americans. Doctors that say NOPE are seen as compassion less. Doctors that heed to the coercion set themselves up for this...

I am not a clinician but have taught Medical Physiology for several years. My experience with many doctors I have met in Emergency/ICU when I have accompanied my relatives to hospitals, is extremely troubling. The doctors cannot be questioned because they live in an esoteric world of their own. If a patient or a family member asks questions, they make you feel you are wasting their time. I feel sorry for patients and families who put their and their loved ones lives in the hands of such doctors. Lots of doctors have forgotten that they are not God.
