    Finally a home on TH-cam with true sophistication and elegance. Truly a masterpiece. For those making negative comments on the landscaping. You need to realize this home is mimicking castles and palaces of Europe where you never see greenery brought up to the building.

    I've seen houses like this plenty of times and they always look cheesy and very new money but this house looks and feels authentic inside and out, you can tell the architect and interior architect are passionate about there jobs and created a work of art.

    • @jaqatlantic
      @jaqatlantic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, I think that the owner did reasonably well on a job that's basically impossible. Certain materials, those that I would suggest are essential to convey the right "feel," are simply not available today. To get that feel, one would virtually have to buy an older structure, and to carefully disassemble it for its materials. Then there's the problem of craftsmanship. I didn't see any tile in the house, and I can understand why. Additionally, the structure's setting is unfortunate. Either it needs to be on much more land (think of the Twombly Florham estate), or it needs to be on no land other than its own footprint (think of a Vanderbilt residence formerly on 5th Avenue).

    • @sethhepler
      @sethhepler ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats due to the architect who is given zero mention in the video. Michael J Wallin. There isn't any other like him on Long Island and this was him being totally unrestrained.

    The absence of true landscaping, the hedges, an avenue of shady trees, a reflecting pool or a pond, a garden house, gazebo, statuaries, pocket gardens etc..make this property incomplete and wanting..therefore un appealing..the structure is fully exposed to view and any character it attempts to convey is lost..the exterior should reflect the interiors of the property, the builder put so much input into making the interiors of the property a showpiece, he forgot to put emphasis on the most important thing!..that first impressions count and it starts from the outside!..

    There's something about this house that falls flat. I understand that age is a part of the equation, especially when comparing the fireplaces, but those light fixtures, although gilded in "cut crystal" (aka glass) look very cheap - mostly in line with the metal work (is that real brass?). The house is plopped on a strange plot of land, with the access driveway being extremely long and butting up next to other homes? (notice they don't call it an estate in the title) Maybe the problem was that the owner, obsessed with "all things french" picked out all of the pieces in the house - which would be why you have Ralph Lauren pieces in there too. Overall, that is what it appears to be....an imitation french house in Long Island.

    The interior reminds me of Waddesdon Manor in England. It is a well done interior of its type, but it is more suited to the crinolines and corsets of the Victorian era. I do not think I would relax there, any more than I would in a museum. So disappointing to see such a house on so little land. I assume that the gardens are a work in progress. If they ever film a remake of High Society, this would be a suitable location.

    Price of $60 million is about average for modern Beverly Hills. Hope some billionaire buys the house and takes good care of it. So happy the land was used for this splendid estate instead of those suburban crackerbox developments that destroy so much land.

    Can a woman survive boredom?!? I heard some women prefer to live in smaller mansions than larger ones.
    They don't like to live that is hunted and dark lonely rooms. I don't really care what they say. I live living large.

    Architecture is good, interiors are outdated, who would want to buy old existing furniture, give me a break. The Landscaping is shocking. Estate agent trying her best to oversell this house despite the shortfalls.

    This lady kind of doesn't know because she said they don't pour concrete in floors they do pour concrete in floors they have to it's called RADIANT HEAT and they use it to put tubes of hot water through the floor to warm up on cold days so the floor isn't cold when you walk barefooted and they do that all the time everywhere across the United States that I know of what she says that she's like saying which has some particular house and no one doesn't anything she's completely wrong RADIANT HEAT is what it's called.

    I did not think this level of work and art could ever be achieved in this day of cheesy, plastic Mcmansions with hot tubs and home theaters, Horace Trumbauer and Anna Dodge helped I'm sure. I am truly amazed.
