7 August 2020 : Unfolded one of the most unfortunate events for Kerala amidst the Covid pandemic and flood situation. Air India aircraft from Dubai to Kozhikode with 190 on board crashed after overshooting the runway. The Pilot Wing Commander Deepak V sathe (Rtd) who was a decorated officer from 58th course (National Defence Academy), an IAF veteran and Akhilesh Sharma(copilot), lost their lives in the incident along with 18 passengers as the weather conditions were not in their favour. Heavy rainfall and accumulation of water on the runway created visual difficulty which ultimately resulted in the crash of the flight. Salute to the brave souls (esp from Malappuram and Kozhikode) who were at the fore front of the rescue operation at the plane crash site. Our thoughts and prayers are with the souls who lost their lives and let's pray for the speedy recovery of the injured passengers.
