I totally agree with you but remember the zard, venusaur etc aren’t actually in the main set. They are promos that come in the 1 card packs for buying 4 booster packs. Al 28 cards in the set are holo, then there’s 20 or so promos and I’d imagine there will be an abundance of beautiful SR alt arts. :)
Oh has that been confirmed? I wasn’t aware they were doing the one card pack thing for the English release as well, I thought the subset cards were simply just going to Have a chance to show up in the regular boosters
they could have done generations but for neo gen or the rest of gen 1 and called it a day. This is been better than what a lot of people were expecting.
To me, the Charizard and Venusaur are the most exciting things that have been revealed out of any of the upcoming sets. I don't know if it's just because I was a kid in the 90s when Pokemon started but I will never get sick of having a chance to pull those cards. I'm hoping there's a Blastoise and maybe even a neo Lugia in the set also! Gen 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, and while there are some absolutely gorgeous modern cards these days, nothing will ever hold the same nostalgia and value to me personally as those original cards and artworks.
I’m pretty excited for the reprints in terms of seeing some crazy expensive and uncommon card arts be made available again. Gold Star Charizard and Latias are some of my favorite arts in the tcg so it would be awesome to be able to have that art available at a reasonable price. Don’t care much for base Charizard either but they seem to be focusing on iconic/staple cards from throughout the tcg (hence why we’re also getting things like Tapu Lele GX) so it makes enough sense. I just hope we get an even spread from all the generations. The real thing I’m excited for is how they’re doing the promos, with new Pokémon in older mechanics/styles. I love the concept and I hope we see more of them aside from just the promos, as that’s the real draw for me personally.
Loved the comment 👏 it’ll definitely be interesting to see the impact on gold stars since they’re astronomical right now. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts!! ☺️
I think a lot of people are excited because they’re a younger generation and it’s getting harder to get any OG charizards like you mentioned, even the evolutions charizard. It is the most iconic card of all Pokémon and possible all TCG so Pokémon will ride its coattail as long as possible
I agree the set is too small, but the whole point of it is to pay homage to the last 25 years so of course the biggest card in the hobby is going to be in it. I don’t care about Charizard cards in general but you can’t have this set without it. Part of paying homage is creating new cards to reference all the old types (prime cards etc). You say you want them to pick a theme but they have. The theme is the last 25 of the Pokemon tcg. You’ve also padded out your Charizard reprints to the point of being disingenuous about the number of times it has been reprinted/reproduced. By listing variants in the same set like reverse holos or listing all three base set variants doesn’t mean it was printed anymore than any other card in that set.
Thanks for the comment, enjoyed reading your thoughts. As to your point on Charizard, I think there are MANY different ways to put a Charizard in a set without reprinting the base set version. I already said printing the Japanese cd promo, but you can at least do a modern take on the Charizard or perhaps get the illustrator to alter it for the 25th anniversary. Because slapping it on a new holo and giving it a stamp doesn’t make it as special as doing one of those things. Secondly, evolutions didn’t have a reprint of blastoise or Venusaur. So in fact, Charizard has been reprinted more. That’s why I definitely didn’t mind seeing Venusaur reprinted nearly as much because it hasn’t been printed in over a decade. Charizard has.
@@PokeJebel Thanks for the reply dude 🙂 Charizard has been reprinted more than the other starters for example, you’re right. But a variant in the same set (three different base set cards for example) can’t be considered separate reprints. Excluding variants, this is the 6th reprint of the card, or one every 5 years. Doing something new or having the CD Promo would be cool things to do too, don’t get me wrong, but when most people think Pokemon, they think of base set Charizard, there’s just no getting away from it. I wouldn’t care if it wasn’t in the set but I think a lot of people would. I think the backlash for leaving it out would be worse than including it. Personally, I think they can get away with reprinting it here due to the nature of the set but that should be it, until the 50th anniversary at least 😅 Hope you don’t think I’m ranting at you 😅 I fully get where you are coming from. As enthusiasts and collectors we don’t want to just keep collecting the same cards over and over and if it wasn’t an anniversary set I’d definitely share the same opinion as you.
All good points, we haven't seen the secret rares though, I'm guessing they'll be the saving grace. The quantity and design is lacking.. The English Ultra Premium Collection Box is very comparable to the gold Pikachu box and I actually prefer it.
I like that some new pokemon are getting dark/light forms or delta species, the mimikyu delta species promo looks amazing..but I agree with the rest, I dont care for reprinted cards
Finally someone said it! Charizard is soo overhyped at this point. Whenever Pokemon wants to make a good set they just throw a Charizard in it. I hate the base set Charizard so much now. I wish they would have gave the NEO era some more love in this 25th set or even the E Series sets. Evolutions was just enough because it gave that nostalgia feeling but why do it again with a new fancier holo pattern?
Yeah that’s my issue too. Charizard is losing its aura of being “the best card”, for me anyway. If you continue to make the same card with slightly new variations, it hinders every other card with that design. It’s a shame.
I think they messed up AGAIN by not including all 3 starters evolutions, such a missed opportunity. But I personally like the idea of another reprint. Hopefully it looks better than the evolutions one because that one just feels cheesey to me when compared to the original. CP6 did it way better IMO
As much as reprinting charizard gets boring, I guess it's like never getting sick and tired of listing to your favorite song or eating your favorite ice crea,
Dude I'm in the same ship. Saw the announcements, checked out what is going to be released and was like "meh" and then I check other people's opinions and to my surprise the majority likes it. So at the moment I'm looking at it as a distraction for people that like it and a win for me, because it will allow me to get some other products (maybe the Eevee heroes gym box, or some graded Wotc/old japanese cards). Hopefully this doesn't sound evil lol, if people like it then it's great, it just doesn't do anything for me, so skip.
No I definitely agree, I think other booster boxes will almost be forgotten in this flurry for 25th anniversary stuff! Go for it man, good luck grabbing all of that stuff! 🙏
I just want the Venusaur reprint tbh, I've always appreciated Venusaur over any other pokemon since I was a kid. As a Pokemon fan, yeah Idgaf about charizard tbh, I just want my Venusaur. Blastoise would be cool too, but I already have the Charizard from evolutions. I genuinely would rather trade Charizard for a Venusaur. I'd rather get the OG promos anyday for either card though (char, blast, ven)
"design something new" yeah man they've definitely been struggling making new.................. charizard cards? every charizard is just base set charizard. they've never printed a full art charizard or a shiny charizard or a charizard vmax or a charizard v or a non holo charizard or
You just sound like a Pokémon homer with this comment. I couldn’t care less which card they make, it’s the fact they’re reprinting the same stuff. That’s the point.

I think you’re right on that one 👏
I felt this was when evo dropped. Just rehashing things. Why not neo?
Yup, it’s just rehashing things because they know if they reprint base set Charizard everyone will buy it and they’ll get paid millions

TRUE! Secret rares will be interesting for sure.
so you're not going to sell any on your store?
Doubt I’ll be getting any due to demand in japan 😅

Right?! I mean still no fossil or rocket or gym trainer reprints but charizard all over. I only collect zards cause people will pay big

I can't wait to get mint condition holos honestly, I'm excited to get the venusaur and charizard
Bud, you're not wrong, but I like it. I'll buy some Japanese off you !! :) They're probably thinking of putting 280 secret rares in it !!
Hahaha if they put 280 secret rares in it I’m going to do an apology video 🤣🤣

@@PokeJebel My point is that your point makes no sense considering they've printed thousands of unique arts and dozens of unique charizards. Cringe
dont like dont by simple
This 25th might be the last time its ever printed 🤷♂️
