I've got the 2018 Origin. Very happy with it. This bike handles everything. Just upgraded it as soon as the parts were broken or worn out. The only original parts now are the fork, frame, handlebar & stem.
The other day I went for the first time to a mtb trail, it was a black diamond flowy trail. I was the only one with a hardtail, a 2019 commencal meta ht, and it was amazing! I didn’t felt like I needed “more” bike. I kept the pace with the other riders with propper downhill bikes. Hardtails are super capable. By the way the 2021 colors are beautiful...
And if anyone is (like me) suffering of sore hands, try vibracore bars!(spank). I ride an NS HT frame with 11-42,175 cranks, NS pedals and 800 bar with vibracore. And Ergon grips. It really helped me out with sore hand problem! Find your size on grips, almost one of the most important things. I tend to spend to much money on chains, cassette i buy cheep ones and switch them often. (Sunrace). Commercial and NS is in my opinion the most interesting frames for HT builds. Thanks for the nice review! Keep them coming!
Now that you've had the 2021 frame for a while how's the stiffness compare to your previous Commencal? You pointed out the geometry difference in the rear triangle, curious if it seems to absorb the rocks and chop any better. Looking at the 2021 Meta HT or Nukeproof Scout. Combination of flowing smooth trails and some really rocky (typical Northeast US) sections where I plan on riding. Thanks for the vids.
Can't wait to get mine! Pre-ordered a ready build L-size from commencal UK, just received mail yesterday it had been shipped! Probably gonna get my hands on it next week (Finland)! So excited about this bike. :--)
I got mine yesterday! Ride edition so same color but with their build. Imma wrap it in some 3M, this paint is too nice to mess up ;) I still find the seattube a bit high, at 6ft tall with a size large I will not be able to fit much more than a 100mm dropper. Can't wait to see you beat that thing up. \m/
How tall are you since you ended up buying a 2021 large frame? I've noticed that the reach on the large is shorter than a lot of other aggressive hardtails.
I ordered that same bike. It’s on the way. I order the complete build and then I’ll probly just swap the fork to a dvo diamond. I’m stoked to have a bike that I can take to the dirt jump park and the downhill park!

Best review I’ve watched/read on this bike. Pretty positive I’m going to pre-order mine just curious what your thought on the 35 gold forks that come on the bike. Seen a lot of people complain about issues
Thanks for the kind words!! I have not used the 35 gold forks myself as my old build came with the rockshox Yari. and that was a basic fork but felt quite good actually... most forks even basic one you should be able to set up good just with so time and tinkering. :)
I have a 35 on mine and they are not bad but are sticky . I heard some guys having quite a few problems with them but mine aren’t to bad but im still thinking about sending them back or rebuilt . I heard RockShox built the lowers out of spec and will fix them . The yari is way smoother and i think thats what im gonna get .
@@lefterisgeorgiadis4848 mine is the 35 gold debonair . To tell the truth the 35 arent bad for general trail riding but i went to Fernie and when things get gnarly it feels rough . I just got a fox 36 170mm travel of the commencal web site , i’m sure it will be better.
I was definitely between last year's bike and this years. I chose this one because of the seat tube length (I'm an L). Build came with 27.5+ which I've never ridden but maybe the perfect hardtail tire to rip on. That being said...my only complaint...is I loved the branding on the downtube underneath from last. Similar to the orange fork...I just thought it looked cool. Cheers and safe riding!

The rockshox 35 gold rl is more than what you need for beginner riding. I’ve used it at downhill parks, jump parks, and everything in between. They have 35mm stanchions, which makes it burly enough for all kinds of riding. I upgraded to a dvo diamond, but as a beginner, that fork is more than you need.

The bike rides nearly as hard as my full sus, with an extra fun factor lol. I was wondering, I’m seriously thinking about upgrading the fork (I put on a Suntour Aion 35 I had lying around to save $), and I’m between a Lyrik Ultimate and a Fox 36 Grip 2. How much fork offset you got there Ben?
Mate I have just ordered the 2021 Essential. I was planning on leaving the Yari's on there. They come with 2 tokens in already but can take 5. Thoughts on how many to run? (I am 5'10 and about 93kg's) Also it comes with 2.8' tires. I have been told it will ride heaps better with 2.6's??? (I will be running CushCore regardless) Appreciate the help. Cheers.
I quite enjoyed the yari on this bike as mine came with one as well. I ran 2 tokens with compression all the way open. and it ran great. as for tires. I love running 2.6. as its for grip speed and weight.
@@BenYorkeMrHardtail Thsnks heaps mate
@@BenYorkeMrHardtail Have just ordered 2 x Maxxis Dissectors in 2.6. 1 x EXO + WT for the arse end and 1 x EXO WT for the head, as its always dry and loose where I ride in Oz, Cushcore as well. And some 38mm R x 785mm W bars. I got the Gun Metal Grey bike. Can't wait for this to all get here. Its my first ever HT so mega pumped. Cheers again.
so nice new look!!
Cool build man... Have you seen the HT AM BRUSH? Sick brushed aluminum version of this frame! Just pre-ordered mine...
It looks sooooo good! Love that raw finish!
Awesome video great info thank you!
Thanks for the great feedback!
brra, I am 511, which size would you suggest for me? 29er
What is your read hub?
Cant wait to see the video with you ripping this beauty!
Cassette???
Great video man! How tall are you? Just wondering for sizing comparison for me
Thanks Ethan! I'm 6'2 and ride a large but.... I tend to ride my bikes a tad on the smaller size. as I really like a playful bike. :)
Great vid, I’m looking at buying this so great timing. I’m same height as you and looking at the large. Is a smaller bike advantageous?? I currently ride. Large Rocky Mountain xc but want something a bit more playful.
Does the colour gets scratched chipt off easily or not
Hey brother! As much as I love the mat tan that I have. I find i gets marked up pretty easy. So I would go with a gloss finish! But if you do get the tan. I found the MR.Clean Magic erasers to work amazing at getting rid of marks on the frame.
If i am 16 and around 6 2 and am still growing should i go xl
If your still growing ya I say XL. sweet part is with the newer lower seat tube the negative side of having an XL frame should no longer be a factor. so ya go for the XL. :)
Cool bike bro
Cheers my dude!!!
Get yourself an XO1 shifter and it's 100%!
Sweet bike!
Love it, want one 🤙
Cheers my dude!!!
Rise handlebar?
Yes. 40mm rise 780mm width and 31.8 diameter.
Train is coming!
how tall are u?
I'm 6'2 but also like to ride my bikes a little on the smaller side.
That chair leg on the right gave me such bad anxiety i could not watch.
How tall are you buddy?
6’2
170mm of travel, sounds way over forked, also has to be upsetting the geometry on that frame.
Bike is built to take up to 170mm of travel. For the last 8 months it seems to be doing just fine on the climbs and descends. :)
Yow Mr hardtail I want your bike
I think that hardtail party guy is sensitive to stiffness because he rides mostly on rock.
why dont you talk about geo??...its 5 noumbers..make life easy
Because the Geo is the same as its been for the last 4 years... :) I talk about what's different. Feel free to check on my overview of the 2019 meta.
Cheers!
