Once you hear Joe on a live concert, no matter what high end hifis, earphones etc you use to hear his recorded tracks it will never be enough....you will always have that deep crave to go and watch him play live....the sound is phenomenal...can't be ever re produced live.... except by Sir Joe Satriani!!! How blessed we are to be lived in Joe's times and witness the legend!!!!
Alejandro Coleno You think?.. lol... I just have to figure out what kind of guitar Joe used for this track, its really diferent from all other tracks, i dont even understand how he tuned for this song...
this is like every note is a planet of a universe and there they fight for their place then some of them is destroyed others changing fast directions but in the end after all this loss the perfection and balance appears
Лучшие альбомы до 2000 года. После уже не все композиции западали в душу. В этом альбоме уже для себя 7 композицй нашел,очень понравились!!! Да лысый зазвучал по новому и я не разочарован. Forever SATCH☺
This one joins Joe's best tracks! A winner right from the beginning. He hits you right away with electricity and energy. The beginning notes/riff is stunning. The worlds best rock guitarist. Never to be matched....ever!
Funny thing about Joe Satriani is you either love him or hate him. People that listen to rock mainly like lyrics in the songs, so they can shout them from the rooftops and play air guitar to the solos after a few beers!! Most great rock bands wrote great songs. Enough said. If you play electric guitar then it's another story. I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years and in my quest to learn I found Joe Satriani back in 1988 when I was given 'Surfing With The Alien' by a friend that worked in a bar. A tourist had left the tape behind the barman hated it, and gladly offloaded it to me. I played it and I loved it and ever since I have collected every album he has released. I even saw him live in 1995. Anyway, 'Shockwave Supernova' is now blasting from my Rega Planar 2, another accident. I usually buy Satch on CD, why, I love vinyl, but most of his releases over the last 20 years have been on CD with no LP format as an alternative. I went to my local record store to buy the CD and he was sold out but had the LP, I couldn't decline and now I'm glad I didn't. This album sounds big and inventive with melodies and textures that crawl under your skin. The music is fluid and elastic with a wide palate of guitar tones and styles and the virtuosity that flows effortlessly from Satch's fingers. The drums, mainly performed by Marco Minnemann are stunning, it's like multiple drummers. Vinnie Colauita is on a few tracks too, which may mean that these are from the 'Unstoppable Momentum' sessions, the previous album. Mike Keneally plays funky keyboards while Bryan Beller pounds the basslines down. The album is mixed and mastered by Satch's long time sidekick John Cuniberti. While some people might think all Satch albums sound the same, this sounds like no other, only a rockin' good ride into the cosmos!
+KRAZEEIZATION I agree with you about the virtuosity of Satriani and how effortless he looks like when playing... but I disagreen respect this sounds different. Is always the same, he uses now some different pedals even the delay pedal here, and maybe the production is different, but the way he´s playing is allways the same, for me it´s boring.
+KRAZEEIZATION I've known of nobody that hates him. I've heard some people say "meh" because of no vocals or they feel he has stagnated. But I suppose everyone that gains fame obtains some hatred.
+KRAZEEIZATION I would just like to say that I had parents that were hippies, I was born in 69 and have been listening to rock since then, my earliest memories are of Led Zeppelin and Heart and to add my father was a rock dj and I was introduced to all kinds of rock and roll. Having said that I discovered Joe also after Surfing with the Alien came out and of all the rock bands from the 80's he is the one I listened to the most. Ya it's great to listen to song with lyrics especially if you are feeling a certain way and those lyrics edify how you feel at that time and on other times the lyrics are driving you to feel a certain way but with Joe you can listen to, lets say Echoes one day and it makes you feel a certain way and listen to it the next day and feel something totally different because there are no lyrics driving you. To me this is the greatest gift Joe as given me as a fan and this is why I can listen to his music a thousand times over.
Amaziiiiiiinng !!! Wow Guys in the solo between 1:47 and 2:18 he switch the C# minor mode to this beautiful mode it's called NECKRIZ نكريز ....... he usualy plays on phrygian or phrygian dominant or harmonic minor but this time he added this new flavor, i'm a guitar player and 've been a huge fan for 10 years now, Thank you Joe.
go to see joe in march in orlando with my daughter who is 20 im 50 seen joe many times still get exited had a classical gitar teacher once tell me his music is processed not sure what that means to me he is a true virtuso who plays with a lot of emotion and truly loves what he does first time im hearing this album
I have no question how much this song is so classy! It's elegant and I can't get it out of my head for second day. In my opinion if this album has songs as great as this one it's must have for sure.
I'm fucking addicted to this simple intro song (simple compared to Satch's masterpieces and other guitar masterpieces). That's how good Satch is, even his simple shit sounds like anthems.
Just search for Joe Satriani, this guy has been around for some 30 years and is basically the father of the modern guitar sound. Surely you can dig something out
Kelsey Clark see flying in a blue dream or surfing with the alien. One of the few guitar instrumentalists that are listenable to non guitar players. He never forgets "its about the music, stupid!" and doesnt get lost in self indulgent forays into technically quirky material. (ahem cough VAI cough ahem!)
Can't wait to hear this song live and see how he tweaks it. Lots of Joe's live versions sound just as good if not better than the album (take Crush of Love as just one example of many)
A Shockwave Supernova is exactly what happened the day you were born Joe Satriani!!!!!!!!
Whenever he plays the planets aline!
Amen 4 dat. beyond OSOM
Another awesome track by a boss !

joe is perhaps the best rock guitarist there's ever been.
John Dimebag Derell is better!
ummm.....no.
Joe is a freakin phenom!
Perhaps????
True he has the perfect tone, the most feeling of all shredders, the best melodys of al shredders, and he is live always better then on cd
I can confirm 100%! The energy he gives to the audience whilst performing is out of this world. I connected from the first till the last note played.
That song kicks fucking ass. Love the opening riff, and the drop-D slide is pretty special. A massive sounding track, love love love it.
***** im trying to figure out what tunning is he using?, i guess Drop-Db sounds good...
Rafael Sequera Someone in the comments said DropC#, i'm not sure myself xD
***** Ah, thanks for correction. I don't know much about tunings.
Yes its Drop Db... :D (y) ill try to learn this one asap...
monkey1504 drp Db on an electric 12 string too. Talk about going for it.
Best Satriani Track in decades!, just amazing... :O
Rafael Sequera I guess a backing track of this amazing track will come soon... hehe ;)
Alejandro Coleno You think?.. lol... I just have to figure out what kind of guitar Joe used for this track, its really diferent from all other tracks, i dont even understand how he tuned for this song...
Alejandro Coleno i second that backing track thought!!!!!
Rafael Sequera It's drop C#. The chorus is definitely slide, and it sounds like he has a Pog overtop of the whole thing.
zmiller93 A drop D guitar tuned down half step down actually, so it's more a drop Db rather than a C# ;)
this song alone proves joe is legendary
father of creation. Mr Joe
The cosmic Joe is BACK!!!
One of his top 5 albums. I listened to it until the end and repeated it all over again. Marvelous! He's still got it.
This thing is so addictive, I've put it on loop for 10x times and counting.
Best Satriani tune in a long time...
That solo was a smooth face melter
That riff is so good. Makes me want to pick up the guitar, like it should.
Crystal Planet all over again, such a powerful album.
this is like every note is a planet of a universe and there they fight for their place then some of them is destroyed others changing fast directions but in the end after all this loss the perfection and balance appears
Can we talk about that crazy ass drummer as well? What a monster!

One of the best albuns from Satriani!
This one joins Joe's best tracks! A winner right from the beginning. He hits you

The worlds best rock guitarist. Never to be matched....ever!

Omg 😮 beautiful...
I saw him in Reno and this is what he opened up with, pure magic.
This song is my stand
It's got a Crystal Planet feel to the sound, yes?
Unbelievable!!! His guitar can cry. And I cry . Because I can hear these sounds. Thanx and sorry for my english.
Those riffs at the start...BAD ASS

Kelsey Clark first 3 albums are mandatory listening for any fans of guitar music. This is his best album for probably 15 years.
Just search for Joe Satriani, this guy has been around for some 30 years and is basically the father of the modern guitar sound. Surely you can dig something out
Thanks I maybe do that then again I maybe not !!!
