  • Colmar, Kaysersberg & Riquewihr - Join us on an adventure eating and drinking on our own food tour through these three cities in Alsace France! Today we are road tripping the Alsace wine route and visiting three special cities, so buckle up and lets GO!
    Colmar is best known for it's beautifully preserved downtown and picture perfect river running through the city. In Colmar you will find people walking everywhere, with virtually no traffic except for a tourist train here and there. This city is restaurants GALORE!
    Kaysersberg is surrounded by beautifully manicured grape vines and offers quaint coffee shops with some delicious baked treats to try. The town has a postcard view from every street corner.
    Riquewihr is like stepping into a movie, it is literally like time has stood still for hundreds of years. This village is the setting of where Disney's Beauty and The Beast took place. We were waiting to see Belle stroll past us carrying some delicious bread. It's cobblestone streets and half timbered houses make it one of the most beautiful places on earth to enjoy a glass of wine.
    All three cities have a lot to offer and are a perfect road trip that you can accomplish in just one day, although once you are there, you'll never want to leave.

    A Couple of Nomads?
    Who are we?
    Well, we are a couple from worlds apart that has chosen Valencia, Spain to be our home base. Vicky is born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, now an American citizen. Josh is an American, well, born and raised in Ohio.
    We left our jobs, family and friends and moved to Valencia, Spain in the middle of the pandemic. We decided to that we should also start a TH-cam channel to show the world that, you can do anything (even if you are getting grey hair), if you think you can! If you want to see how a couple of expats can live the Mediterranean dream, and you want to join us on our journey...then subscribe, we would love to have you as part of our extended family!
    Cheers!
    Vicky & Josh

    It's interesting to see how German these French border towns look. The food, the architecture..and of course, the names of a lot of things.
    Super beautiful. Looking forward to exploring some of these cities myself! 😀 🍷 🥂

      Yeah, these cities have changed between French and German a few times. They are really beautiful and definitely worth a visit! Thanks for watching as always!

      @@ACoupleofNomads Here's an History fact. Alsace used to be German territory, after the Franco-Prussian in 1871.
      But the French claimed and got it back in WW1 after signing the armistice November 11th 1918. It's been now a French territorry since 1919
      Colmar, Alsace should be considered one of the top 5 beautiful town of France.
      Glad you had and enjoy your time there

    We love Colmar! Every time we visit my in-laws in southwestern Germany (bordering France) - we go to Colmar. And yes....a lot of the food you eat is traditionally eaten in Germany. The "noodles" you ate are egg noodles called spaetzle. I could eat them every day. YUM!

    Carmel and I love the small villages. We started laughing when you mentioned that you didn't know how to get to the other side (underground walkway). When we arrived in Valencia at the railway station, we couldn't find a way to get to our air bnb until someone showed us the underground passage. It happens. lmao.

      Ohh you guys will love them, they are so cute and have so much charm! Yes, the underground passageway in Valencia was confusing too, that one took us a while to figure out! Lol! Thanks for watching!🥃

    Beautiful and charming towns. The quality of your videography is excellent. I was not too impressed with the food. The food you have shown in past videos in Valencia and Barcelona seems much better. I look forwards to your Switzerland video.

    If you enjoyed these very German looking French towns, you are going to love similar towns in Germany. On the "Romantic Road" you'll find Rothenburg, Dinkelsbühl and Nordlingen close to eachother, which are absolutely beautiful and as if you have entered a medieval fairytale.

    Hi, we are planning a trip and Colmar is on our itinerary. We also saw in your video that there are other towns nearby like Riquewihr. Is it possible to do Colmar and Riquewihr in one day? Or maybe just Colmar in one day? We are debating whether we should go to Colmar for 1 or 2 days. If we did Colmar in 2 days, we would only be able to go to Lucerne for 1 day. What would you recommend?

    • @ACoupleofNomads
      @ACoupleofNomads  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Anthony! That’s tough, we spent multiple nights in both locations. Both Colmar and Lucerne are fabulous, Riquewihr you can do in a few hours. Either way you win, they are both stunning in their own way!

    Greetings from Ohio! How is the border crossing process? Does your Spainish visa make it easier, or are you crossing borders as US citizens? Thanks for the videos!

    • @ACoupleofNomads
      @ACoupleofNomads  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Derek! Crossing borders via train in Europe is like crossing state borders in the US, no checking of anything. At the French border however, 30 police officers boarded the train to check vaccination passes.
      We use our Spanish ID’s for everything while in the EU.
      Thanks for watching, we’re glad you enjoy our videos!

    I advise tourists not to visit Paris anymore.
    (Stop believing HOLLYWOOD which sells PARIS as a perfect city, this is no longer the case)
    There are many thieves who prey on foreign tourists.
    Moreover, Paris has become a very dirty city.
    If you want to spend a pleasant trip and keep a beautiful memory of FRANCE, the ALSACE region is perfect

      @@ACoupleofNomads There are many beautiful places in France. Of course some are better than others.
      I am French and live in Alsace. I visited west, north, south and east of France and most of the places are nice. I liked a lot the region near Calais, the country side is beautiful.
