I was born in 1976! America's Bicentennial year. Man.....what a great era to grow up in. Everything was so much more simple then. I wish we could all feel that again.
I was 9 years old when this came out. Anyone else remember that year? The Freedom Train. Every fire hydrant painted with the stars and stripes. The biggest cake in the country. There was so much Bicentennial insanity it's hard to recall now. Great reaction. Thank you.
The Bellamy Brothers were essentially two cowboys who rose from country poverty to worldwide musical fame. Those guitar riffs at the beginning of the song jump right out at you. Yet it’s as soon as the vocals start that you know this is a very special song. This one will bring you back.
I love this song! Every time I hear it I can't help but sing and dance along with it. We saw them play at the county fair when I was a child. Great memories.
I would categorize them as hippie country for lack of a better description. More of an Austin, Texas style of country than a Nashville style of country.
In the mid-1970's they were considered pop and not country at all. In the late 1970's - early 1980's country music became very popular and they converted their music to ride that country music wave, but not in 1976. After they became considered country, their older music started getting air play on country music stations, just because of their popularity. They didn't used to dress country or have country themed album covers and their hair was longer than country music stars at the time, because most were oloder in age than them.
@@vchism712 Even the Rolling Stones went for pop / disco sound for a short time. The Bellamy Brothers weren't big, but had one hit and then country music started getting really popular, so somebody prodded them to go that direction.
They really are brothers and still living down here in Fl. Right now they are preforming in the USA, but getting ready to do Netherlands, Sweden and other countries the Covid push back their tour. They are still releasing songs and had a reality tv show Honkey Tonk Ranch filmed down here on their Brama (cattle) ranch. Two of their boys are singing in Nashville, group called Josh & Noah,
I think that 1976 had some of the best music from all genres. I was only 7 in 1976 , but I sure remember all these songs. My parents (especially mom) wore these records out! 😂
I was 7/8 too (born 12/68). I had young parents. In 76 they were 28 and 25 and they went dancing every Saturday night and all day on Saturday they would play music and dance around the house with me and my little sister! Beautiful memories for me now that my dad is gone.
Hah! Another kid of '68. 1976 was amazing. My parents took us all over the US for the bicentennial. I remember rambling all over the US listening to all these great 70s tunes.
Wow, you have played some gems today! You're right about your assessment about music being a time machine, and an emotional device as well! Music is pure magic in every level imaginable!
Bellamy Brothers would have only one more Top 40 hit, 1979's "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me." Nice melody with a touch of cheesiness. It would also be the first of 10 #1 songs and 26 top ten songs for them on the country charts, the last being "I Could Be Persuaded" in 1990. A lot of their country hits had humor woven in them like "Redneck Girl,' "Old Hippie," and "Rebels Without a Clue."
I like watching Angela's reaction to songs she's hearing for the first time for those of us who grew up with this music and know how good it is. It's nice to see younger generations listen and appreciate how good music of our past can be!
So 0:35 the song starts and 2:35 Angela's smile can't be stopped! There was a time when I was a teen and, totally uncool I know, this was my favorite song. I dug these sappy 70's feel-good songs even though I pretended to hate 'em.
I really enjoy your journey with the Songs of the 70s. It just proves more and more how I was lucky to have grown up in that decade of talented musicians/songwriters! The different genre' of music were terrific.
This is one of first modern rock songs I remember from my youth ( I would have been 5/6 years old.) Then I heard HOTEL CALIFORNIA and I was hooked on rock for life.
In everything you do, don't be afraid to LET YOUR LOVE FLOW!!!!!!!! I remember when this was on the radio when I was a "kid" in the mid 70's....Great choice Angela...
One of those songs you can just get lost in the melody and the message just puts a smile on your face. Its comfort food, or a Hot bath after a hard day, or a warm fuzzy robe.
You should listen to a 70s band called Middle of the Road who had at least 5 hit's in the UK charts in 1971 some of there songs are ( Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep / Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum / Sacramento ) and other bands Bay City Rollers ( Saturday Night / Shang -A-Lang / Bye Bye Baby ) Stone The Crows ( Freedom Road ) Average White Band
I have been listening to your playlist all night, love your channel, I’m 69 and it thrills me to watch you and your actions to the music I grew up with. When you get a chance listen to the BeeGees, You Win Again and Meatloaf, 2 Out of 3 Ain’t Bad and I’d Do Anything for Love. Again thank you 😊
Hi Angela Definitely Phoneworthy! This is one of those perennial feel good songs that the 70s were noted for came under the umbrella term "Easy Listening" hate the term, but love the music, another one of their's is "Old Hippie" which applies to me more than I'd care to admit, All the best Jim, Surrey, UK X
Hi Angela. I am so enjoying your show on you tube!! I discovered it last night. Tonight I watched clips for 3 hours. I grew up in the 70s and I love your reactions to my favorite music : Carpenters, Bee Gees, ect... I am going to subscribe now and I have a few requests. Thanks for inspiring me to love the music even more. 😁
Damn Girl ! What a beauty, eye candy at all levels, the eyes, the lips....Don't tease the Big Boy that i am like that, great channel et quality content... Love to see such beauty react to some Disco from 1973 : First Choice with the song Armed and Extremely Dangerous, because you are my first choice !
They have many many songs to listen to but one that I think you would love the story of is Old Hippie, about a guy still trying to live the lifestyle 20 years later. Like this, it’s a very catchy tune as well. They then did sequels about every ten years and I think they’re now up to Old Hippie 4. 😁👍🏼
I was born in 1976! America's Bicentennial year. Man.....what a great era to grow up in. Everything was so much more simple then. I wish we could all feel that again.
The 70s are inexhaustible. I'm all but convinced.
i don't believe anything tops the 70's.
Is that really a word, if not I love it.
Best decade for modern music, hands down.
You are correct
There is still hope that music will turn around, lol.
I was living in Detroit at the time that song came out, I was 10 years old 😱 Now I’m 58 years old ❤
For some reason this song always chokes me up. Crazy.
Angela you are having fun with this song you are a beautiful young lady let your love flow girl
Check out the band Starbuck (Not the coffee joint) song "Moonlight feels right" from 1976.
I was 9 years old when this came out. Anyone else remember that year? The Freedom Train. Every fire hydrant painted with the stars and stripes. The biggest cake in the country. There was so much Bicentennial insanity it's hard to recall now. Great reaction. Thank you.
As a teenager all thru the 70s this was just normal for us to enjoy I want to go back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The very lovely Angela great mover and an excellent song too.
Angela, it's nice to see you let your love flow. This is just a great feel good song.
That's music that makes you feel good!
Hi Angela I remember riding my 10 speed bike with my radio on the handle bars listening to this song
The Bellamy Brothers were essentially two cowboys who rose from country poverty to worldwide musical fame.
Those guitar riffs at the beginning of the song jump right out at you. Yet it’s as soon as the vocals start that you know this is a very special song. This one will bring you back.
Man this song screams 1976! All over the airwaves back in tha day.
Always such a beautiful smile
I love this song! Every time I hear it I can't help but sing and dance along with it. We saw them play at the county fair when I was a child. Great memories.
Yep!!!! Awesome memories ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Angela thanks for bringing all these songs back Don't let the sun go down on me from Elton John 1974 is my favorte
Angela, I would categorize this as Country Pop (or Pop Country). It actually made it all the way to #1 on the pop charts in 1976.
Crossover hit for sure. They had a longer lasting career in the Country music genre, with some really great songs.
I would categorize them as hippie country for lack of a better description. More of an Austin, Texas style of country than a Nashville style of country.

@@jimjungle1397 Kinda like the Eagles in the late '70's...considered "hard" rock then, now more of pop country sound!
@@vchism712 Even the Rolling Stones went for pop / disco sound for a short time. The Bellamy Brothers weren't big, but had one hit and then country music started getting really popular, so somebody prodded them to go that direction.
Your a beautiful young lady and thank you for making my eyes happy
amen. testify.
She is indeed.
Beautiful song, beautiful lady. We are blessed today 🙏
The 70's were my teenage years and these songs being up all kinds of memories.
One of my favorites. "SEPTEMBER" by Earth,Wind and Fire is one of the best songs of the 70's and all time.
Anything by E, W and F is amazing.
Angela, Angela, Angela, Angela... You take me back to when I was 18 with this song... Thank you....
One of my top 100.

Those were simpler times. Nobody writes songs with those lyrics today. I remember dancing to this song in a Colorado bar. High and drinking Coors.
I think that 1976 had some of the best music from all genres. I was only 7 in 1976 , but I sure remember all these songs. My parents (especially mom) wore these records out! 😂

"Beautiful Sunday" by Daniel Boone........lovely song. Love your channel!
Beautiful
Let your love bind you to all living things. Not bad advice.
70's pop. Sunshine, rainbows....etc. Takes me back. Now you need, Jonathon Edwards, England Dan&John Ford Coley, Seals &Croft, Andrew Gold, Ambrosia.
They did "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body". Slower but very good and kind of clever.
I think in Angela's case that song would be very fitting.
@@DanielFrost21 I saw what you did there,Lol.
"Still the One" by "Orleans".
I've always loved this song!😊🥰
I would have sworn that "Let your Love flow " was older than 1976. Tricks of the mind at my age. Thank you for this one.
1976 was my junior year in high school. I remember this song and it's most definitely catchy and makes you smile 😀
I was 5 yrs old when this song came out
It was amazing to see the son start and think "Angela's about to start dancing". And there you went!
Some great songs "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me" and "Old Hippie" are a couple of their top hits
Bellamy Brothers: Almost Jamaica and Vertical Expression.
These brothers have incredible voices to suit a wide variety of styles.
Angela
I love all these 70’s songs. Brings back beautiful memories of a young man carefree in his 20’s looking for new adventures.
Thank you
It's a beautiful, peaceful, joyful song!!!
"Old Hippie"and "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me", are awesome by The Bellamy Brothers. 😀
I was 6 years old 😄
"Let Your Love Flow" is one of the best feel songs along with "Silly love Songs" by Paul McCartney and Wings!
I always loved McCartney's Let Em In.
Angela your choice off off songs is amazing love you
Wow, you have played some gems today! You're right about your assessment about music being a time machine, and an emotional device as well! Music is pure magic in every level imaginable!
Always put this on my timeline at Easter.

I love this song. Brings back great memories. 70s music probably was the best in all genres
One of their best...

This is a truly beautiful and happy song! So if you find yourself getting a bit of the blues, this is one song that will lift your spirits. 😎💘😉

When I used to be a sign spinner I would always sing along to this song on the corner with my loud speaker.
Really like Angela's shirt. Thumbs up!
Angela looking good! 😍
"If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me" is a must listen!
I always thought that this was a disco tune until I read about it and now I know that it's a country song, but has that dancy quality to it.
Thanks for sharing this! It is a happy song to dance to. God bless you!
Stunning as usual Angela...ohh and great reaction. lol. i was 10 when this came out. ah, jean shorts and tank top and chuck taylors. haha
Thanks for doing this series in on the 70s, so many great songs. Glad you are able to share these with the different generations of viewers!

This has such a 70s vibe. I remember it being played in a park as people were playing frisbee.

Angela, you're hitting the mark with these songs. Wow wee!!
If you like that song, you'll probably like "Fantasy" by Aldo Nova.
They're, like, nothing alike.
Must have been a typo. He probably wrote “Still The One” by Orleans and got auto-corrected. 🤨

The harmony of the Bellamy Brothers southern fried rock, great stuff to dance to. The whole of the 70's music scene was my jam on the dance floor.

In 1980 This Song Was Used In The Movie Little Darlings Great Movie Great Song
The Bellamy brothers sang Old Hippie too. Another great song
This was an AM radio staple in the mid 70s, but has been covered by a number of country artists
After watching the intro I thought it was going to be the infamous HeyHeyHeyHeyHeyHey video.
