Donovan Edwards is COMING BACK for his Senior season! On this week's episode of The L.A.B., we sit down with Donovan to talk about his journey this season, the National Championship, and his mindset for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

Hey Donovan. I don't know if you will see this or not but you said in the interview you might have to be a tyrant and maybe not liked. I laughed man, as it's awful hard to not like you. I am so thankful you didn't give it up here at Michigan and your attitude kept you going. I too am a man of God and love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Knowing that, I want you to know that I prayed that God would bless you mightily in the Championship game in honor of your boldness to stand for Him. I have to say He is faithful and always will be as I know for certain He answered that prayer. God bless you young man. Looking forward to seeing you play next year.

Donovan you said early on in this interview that you will be able to finally get the opportunity to be a mentor? I got news for you! IM a 67 year old Grandfather and your faith and attitude has changed my spiritual life! TY!! You already have been the best mentor!!

I have been observing Michigan running backs since 1964, starting with Carl Ward, Jim Detwiler, Ron Johnson, Garfield Craw until today’s two greats, Donovan and Blake. Donovan has the potential to have the greatest RB season of all time, not just at Michigan, but in college football. He is truly a 4 tool running back- running, catching, blocking and passing. I believe the Michigan coaches will trust having the ball in his hands in a variety of schemes. He is even valuable as a decoy, helping out in plays for the other Michigan game-breakers.

I was extremely impressed and inspired to see how Donovan handled what had to have been a rough year on an individual level. Not once did I see Don look anything but positive and upbeat. That includes locker room videos that guys like Roman and Mikey did throughout the year where he might not have known the cameras were on. You never caught Don look anything but happy and excited for big wins even when he did not have the kind of game he wanted to. After the Rose Bowl win, he used his on camera postgame interview to give props to Tyler Morris for scoring his first TD at Michigan and genuinely looked as excited as Morris did.
I strongly believe in Donovan Edwards' skills and am confident he will have a huge season next year. Great teammate and great person and I am happy to support him with my contribution to the Those Who Stay fund.
The DON will be remembered for his explosive runs in big games!

Great to see him get back to glory on the national stage in the CFP final. He kept his head up, continued the grind, and was rewarded for the entire country to see. Excited to see him take the leap next year. Grateful to have a man like this on the UM football team.

I woke up that Monday morning of the Championship and told my wife that I had a dream, a premonition, a feeling deep in my gut that I envisioned Donovan Edwards doing something amazing and having a memorable performance in the big game….
And sure enough, while watching the game I broke out in tears and had chills up & down my spine as he broke off those huge runs!
This might be my favorite of these interviews. The “Don” is a wonderful young man and I have so much respect for him as a person, a player, and a teammate.

Donovan defines the Michigan Man. I'm happy to have my young son look up to him (and made his whole year when he took the time and care to sign his ball at the parade). I respect his fortitude, his gratitude and his emotional intelligence as much as his athleticism. He's earned his spot as a leader, and I can't wait to watch him succeed next year.

I was never worried about Donovan, I know he was struggling this year. When he went in the game you knew he was getting the ball so the defense focused on him
This was definitely the best LAB episode yet. I mean, all are great, but this one hit differently.
I know we all have a story full of ups and downs in life. But the inspiration Dono is to the world and to myself can not be quantified. I won't go into details, but hearing from someone I look up to explain his thoughts on handling adversity and how that builds character is perfect timing w what I'm going through currently.
Thank you, Donovan, for sharing your story and your outlook on how you've handled the tough days. I appreciate and learned a ton from this episode.
Also, I wanted to talk a little about ball. As a former athlete, I also relate things I've learned from my athletic career to life, and there are a ton of parallels. Hearing Donovan talking about his mindset w the team going back to work and staying hungry is really comforting after this special season. That's a winner's mindset and I know team 145 will be in good hands w athletes like The Don and the rest of the returning leaders heading into 2024 season.
Donovan, if you read these, the one thing I'd say is, don't fall into the trap I did. Don't start feeling bad for yourself. Go back to work, find solace in the process, the extra workouts, every rep be that leader you talked about. Leading by example isn't the easy path but I believe in my heart that you are exactly what Team 145 needs.
And like Coach Harbaugh would say, continue to do you, it's working.
I'll be praying for you to keep putting God first, to keep attacking each day and becoming a better player, teammate, leader, and man of God.

I am so proud of you, Donovan, that you can talk about your mental health struggles for others to hear. To follow the word of the lord is to seek virtue. But there is the fact that remains which is we live in a world where there's the way it should be, and there's the way it is. Seldom do the two overlap. There's a beast in all of us. As much as we need to at times tame that beast there are also times when we need to unleash that beast. When Corum hit that run against PSU, when he hit that run after Zintner went down, and when he hit that run in the rose bowl he let that beast free. Stay humble young man, but do not fear in the proper place and the proper time in the heat of the moment do not be afraid and do not hesitate to unleash the beast inside you. The lord gave us that beast for a reason.

Although the sports books have Michigan in the top 10 candidates for the National Championship next season, no one is offering odds on Donovan winning the Heisman. FanDuel has over 75 players listed as Heisman bets (up to+50000), but not Donovan. I can’t wait to see the initial odds for him winning the Heisman.
